What are some of your favourite mics? Let me know what you think of the V12 below!
I've got the "AKG C214" which is for me better than i need. I love this microphone. Design and sound. It's the replica of AKG C414 without the multi directionnal option which is the signature of this mic. I'll buy, soon, the AKG C1000s MKIV, to record my acoustic guitar.
the inexpensive rode m3 sound great on about anything
Been using the JZ BB29, classic sound, similar character to the V12.
It's really impressive how clear and articulate the tops were while maintaining a beautiful body on the lower side of her voice. Drums sound nice and full without being overly bright, Amazing mic!
@@ArthurStone got one too, I love it, it’s always near the top of the pile when shooting out mics for any given singer, unless they are going for a totally different vibe.
This version of the song has sunk in for a long time, everything is great! Thanks.
Thanks Serge! That's very kind of you!
One of my all time favorite tunes! I can't wait to play with these multi-tracks. I'll have the Procol Harum and King Curtis versions on repeat all day getting ready.
That's great to hear Liam!
Very cool to see Steve's Toto list taped to his keyboard...
Haha Ooops!
One of the most perfect songs ever. Very nice rendition. Fantastic job, y'all. And that mic is no slouch! Very nice.
Thanks J.P!
I love my V11, silky up top and round/full at the bottom but never muddy. Awesome mic.
Thanks for sharing! Good to hear!
What an incredible-sounding microphone that does justice for this track. Thanks for the discount!
Thanks ever so much Lee!
Beautiful!
I just cranked the volume on my monitors for my own delight!
Beautiful Voice!
Lovely sound!
Thanks Warren. Beautiful cover; the V12 sounds classic!
Thanks ever so much Arthur!! You Rock!
Great sounding microphone! Especialy drums sound FANTASTIC! Blair's performance is super balanced.
Thanks ever so much Alexey! Blair is amazing!
@Michiel Hollanders yes! It is a great channel!
Yes. Worldclass !
@@lematrix01 fantastic!!
Great job on that song. Katie killed it vocally!!
Thanks Marc!
Thank you Marc!
@@katieferraraofficial You Rock!
Katie, Steve, Blair and Warren Rock!
Thanks!!
I've not downloaded any of these, but something in the balance, not to mention Glyn John's, and Katie's deceptively full voice, and resounding all round performance credits, and now I want to have a play, too. Downloading! Isn't this brilliant? Have fun, music is the best 😍
Thanks ever so much!! Yes, play with and make your own mix! Add some elements, replay them, whatever you want to do!
my first cassett 1974.
Fantastic! Great first song!
Great execution of this old song!! One of my very fav. I'll def do a mix :)
Thanks Jess!
Those drums sound absolutely wonderful!
The vocal sounds amazing on this!! Well done Katie!
Thanks! Yes, mic works perfectly in this setting for a classic sound on a classic song!
Woooo thank you!
@@katieferraraofficial thank YOU!!
Great playing and vocals! One of my favorite songs ever.
Thanks ever so much!
Great vintage sound Warren 👌
Thanks ever so much Peter!
Hey That's my bro Steve on the keys ! Cool version of a great song. Sounds really good !
Steve Rocks!
@@Producelikeapro He absolutely does !
@@ChrisMartinsMusician yes! Amazing!
Very nice version of one of my very favorite classic songs!!! I still remember hearing an Italian version in a Pizza shop many years ago. Time to get a Hammond in your studio although the Nord sounds good it's not quite the same as the real thing which is the most significant part of this song. I'd love to hear a comparison of the JZ with a real C12!!! Thanks for sharing Warren.
Thanks ever so much Tom!
Loved the drumming most of all - the sound and especially the performance.
Thanks Paul!
What a great version! Katie has a lovely warm voice.
Thanks ever so much! Yes, we worked very closely with Katie on how she wanted her vocal to sound! That’s very important to us
Lovely version beautifully arranged & performed! Katie has such a great easy listening voice. I like the way she sings the song & doesn’t use the end of a line to launch into a scale run like many singers do to show off their ‘technique’
Thanks ever so much Dave!
You made that look absurdly easy. That mic sounds phenomenal and doesn't cost the earth either. The drums on 3 mics and capturing that amazing sound!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ever so much Joey! I really appreciate it
I've fall in in love, how much sensitivity singing. Great band and great sound too :)
Wow, thank you!
This was great to get to hear especially with Katie's vocals! This will probably be the next mic I get if I ever can, get anything again.
Thanks ever so much Audrey!
Really nice cover. Beautiful. And great drum sounds. Great everything, but I really did notice the drums and the drumming.
Thanks ever so much!!
"With its Bach-derived instrumental melody, soulful vocals, and unusual lyrics, the music of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was composed by Gary Brooker and Matthew Fisher , while the lyrics were written by Keith Reid." - It's based on Bach, right in the heart.
Indeed, 'Air On A G String'!
The instrumental sounds very Bach!
@@katieferraraofficial yes it does!
Excellent playing. Very nice.
Thanks ever so much!
That song, love it! 😍
Thanks ever so much Andris! You Rock!
Warren that was Brilliant , one of the favorites from the Sixties , what a beautiful song .
Thanks ever so much
Got myself a V12! Thanks for the code!
That’s wonderful to hear
I just ordered the V67 and BH2 ;)
Voice of an angel. Katie-Ferrara
Agreed!
Recording sounds great Warren and the mic sounds fantastic on everything wouldn't you say? I think so!
Wow! Thanks ever so much!
This sounds so much better then the original. Great mix with so much colour. Great job Warren.
Wow! Thanks Paul! That's very kind of you! The original is a masterpiece!
@@Producelikeapro I'm back for another listen as I've had it in my head all day!!!
@@Mcqlfc fantastic!
Hi, big fan, thanks as always. One question, other than the body colour is this 'new' V12 different from the V12 JZ had out around 10 years ago?
I can't tell you as I've not compared them! Great question though! I'm sure they will answer
great sounding acoustic guitar.
Thanks ever so much! It’s a Yamaha, sounds wonderful
Hope you are doing mic-ellously well
Thanks ever so much! You rock!
Any of the JZ mics . The V12 sound is great. sounds so pure /natural
Thanks ever so much Tessa!
Thank you for the multitracks! Very helpful. Have you done a video showing your H300 technique used here? If so, please send along the link and I'll give that one a watch too!
Thanks ever so much!
There is a a Vocal thickening video I did years ago which shows the basics of it. ua-cam.com/video/IwIZ35CAA5Y/v-deo.html
Katie’s vocals are gorgeous .
Thanks! Yes, wonderful
Great video everyone :)
Thanks ever so much
Hi Warren and Team, thanks for the multitracks, Loved the Song and Vocals. I've Mixed and Mastered the multitracks my way and uploaded on my UA-cam channel. Great practise and learning from such stems. A technical feedback will be very much helpful if possible :D sorry if I'm asking for more. Grateful though for the stems this channel provides. This channel is blessing.
Great! Thanks for the great comment! Mix sounds cool, much brighter than mine, with more reverb on the vocals, but I enjoyed it! Could you link to producelikeapro UA-cam channel? To this video under yours? That would be amazing!
@@Producelikeapro for sure 🙏🤘👍 Done!
Dude...holy s&%t. I've been waiting to hear that Cadac for like 3 years, and it was WORTH IT! They don't make em like they used to. That sounded amazing paired with those mics. Dare I say I liked it better than ahem....nevermind. It sounds GREAT. I'd be using that thing all the time. And great musicians BTW. Great job. Love it.
Thanks ever so much j pm!
Hey sorry to bug you, but do you know if that version of Cadac is discrete, or uses IC's? Model #? The thing that struck me? It's width when you mixed the tracks. Very 70's British sounding, very wide like a Trident. Or EMI a little. I've only really heard that on width on Trident though. Not sure why it does that, but super cool man. I noticed immediately when the mix played. Like "WOW, now THAT sounds different."Thanks again!
@@Intrinsic.Recording the only spec I can give you is that the Mic Pres are G320's. Otherwise it's a custom 12 Channel console.
That's perfect. Thanks! Super digging the sound of that thing!
I might be mistaken but I thought Glynn-Johns also needed a mic on snare?
His technique is the three, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if he also added a snare mic in the right occasional
Sounds like another winner for JZ! I adore my V67s, and I'm mighty tempted by the new V12! They do an amazing job of capturing the essentials of the tone on these traditionally tube mics in an easy to work with +48v phantom power format.
Thanks for sharing Melissa! You Rock!
Hello Warren, thank you for another great cover. I used your multitracks on my own mix (my first ever!) and replaced the (lovely) vocals with my own. I'm certain I'm worse off by doing that, but what can I say, I like to sing! ;-)
It would be great if you can take a look and tell me what you think.
Thanks a lot Warren. Very very good song with a marvelous voice..
Thanks ever so much!!
I bloody love this channel - {Napoleon once said with relief} 😎💂
Haha thanks ever so much
Great sound and recording. My favorite is Warrens own version, but everyone on this version is great.
My main mic collection is Neumann U67RI, Chandler REDD, CM7 Wunder, Shoepps MK4 ST PR, TLM 103, SM7B. Drum mics and misc. other mics. I just need to keep practicing on getting the best sounds out of these with my Shelfords, Portico II, Burls stuff etc. With all this Equipment, I can not get anything close to Warren using anything he's testing out.
I'm just going to keep playing and learning. I'm part of the academy but need to get involved and join in.
You're very kind! Pst of my demos are done through an Audient iD4!
Hi,
"Warren" is the code for free shipping in the world, is it right?

@@katieferraraofficial sick! Great singing too btw 🙌🏾
@@katieferraraofficial great guitar!
@@TheJamison76 yes, wonderful singer!
That Woman makes probably every Mic sound good! Very nice characterful Voice! kinda jealous 🙄🤣
Katie is a wonderful singer.
Can someone tell me what the BPM of the song is? thx
It was cut to a click, so I would suggest tapping it out and finding the average tempo
”Hej då" in Swedish. Pronounced Hei Deaux
Thanks very much!
So I downloaded and was mixing along and is it just me or is she singing “Whiter shade of VEIL”? I swear that’s what I’m hearing. Lol
Haha I don’t hear it like that! However, if you do then you do! Haha
@@Producelikeapro I swear I hear a V. Ugh. I hope my ears aren’t failing.
@@AndrewCCM I suppose we all hear things a little differently and maybe the way Katie is singing brings out more of a V sound
She’s a great singer regardless
@@AndrewCCM yes, indeed
The V12 has a nice vintage tone to it. Especially on the instruments. I didn't think it fits this particular vocal well.
what is the name of that song now again?! and any more songs like that style or youtube videos with lots of songs just like that for romantic wine dates anyone can please link me to!
thanks a lot for anyone knowledgeable getting back!
and what a beautiful mic!!
😍
Whiter shade of pale by Procol Haram. I would suggest anything by Van Morrison for the wine date vibe. And of course Frank Sinatra and that sort of thing. You just can't go wrong with Van Morrison and this song sounds like one that he would have wrote tbh, but he didn't.
@@aholder4471 thanks a lot, really appreciate it 😊🇸🇪👌🏻
@@SimplicityForGood thanks for your great comment!
Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis is the PERFECT wine date album!
@@aholder4471 great ideas!
Hi Warren a question: why do you use very frequently this H3000 trick? It is not bad also no particularly good just why? Thank's for response.
It’s a Pink Floyd technique, amongst others and used low it pushes the vocal forward. Obviously, as it’s used by so many great mixers and producers I’m not going to agree with you that it sounds bad. If you don’t understand how to use the effect in a mix like many mixers do, it doesn’t make it bad.
@@Producelikeapro Thank you for the explanation. I was not saying that it is bad only my taste is to have clean vocal particularly in such an acoustics song. Anyway big thank's for your work.
@@verdi260 no problem! Thanks for the clarification!
Cheers Warren I just finished Recording Drums to the Track. 1 of my Favorite Tunes wsop ,the Cadac 12ch. Console Sounds Awesome!! This was Really Fun . I used the NFuse Bus processor Things are Shaping up nicely. I also been using a Digital Tuner in Classic Mode it has been keeping the Drums in Check! Cheers!!🎸🥁🎵🎛🎧
You can't replace a real Hammond M102.
Indeed! I don't have one...anymore! I borrowed one years ago, however it had to go back!
@@Producelikeapro Tell me about it...never have enough space for everything.
@@Weissman111 now I want it back! Hahahaha
😃🤣The guitar track sounds crunchy and tremolo ... I re-recorded it 🤣
Haha yes, exactly what I wanted! Feel free to re-record anything you want! That’s what the tracks are there for!
Instruments sounds very nice but I feel the vocal is very muddy and saturated at the same time. Hard to understand clearly her nuances. Kinda “overtubed” in an Avalon type feeling or old tube muddying on the higher mids. Just my opinion from a quick listen..
Same here. I don't think V12 does her justice.
I think she sounds beautiful but I liked your cover better warren.
You’re very kind! I prefer Katie’s, however I don’t like the sound of my own voice
I got 99 problems but a mic ain't one.
Haha good for you
Sounds pretty sibilant. Too peaky bright for me.
I guess I'm the only one but I (after having checked the multitrack) don't think v12 sounds really good on her voice. There's weirdness going on at around 1k. Or is this the vintage fatnesseveryone's raving about?
I'm not joking.
I'm in the market for a new condenser mic and really want to love either v11, v12 or v67 but I'm not all that impressed with v12 right now.
That song was nice but the organ sound was overbearing after a while
Feel free to download the files and mix it the way you want to hear it!
@@Producelikeapro Thank you!!! I will!
@@pariahgaming365 fantastic!
I prefer the sound of the earthworks mic you were talking into
You’ll have to argue with the guy below who thinks the earthworks didn’t sound good on my speaking voice! We all hear things differently
Really wish you'd included isolated vocals through a clean preamp. Difficult to make out what she's saying, probably because of the dip around 2 kHz. In place of "silkiness" and "fullness" her voice sounds a little harsh and disjointed, even later when played in isolation but with effects. Like the concept behind the microphone (tube microphones are a hassle) but not loving these examples.
I can hear every word clearly. Certainly doesn't sound harsh at all to me. Always best to say 'in my opinion' in these cases.
Sounds like a typical C12 in the highs
Great performances and a good demo of what the mic is capable of. Great stuff, Warren. The style of singing these days is very annoying, people sing like a drummer who‘s only playing breaks and fills…I wanna scream at them: „Just sing the godamn song!“ No hate here, Love! Maybe I‘m too old!🤣
