Thanks for sharing. A big fan of these two speed brushed trucks. I recently grabbed this exact truck up in green! I love this early version. I plan to stock up on spare parts to keep it going forever!
Thank you for the sub and the kind words! I’ll be keeping up with the Mini-Z content and will hopefully get some more nostalgia content coming along at some point. Are you more of a Tamiya vintage era person or a Traxxas E/T Maxx era person?
@@Bash_TheStampede Definitely more the E/T Maxx! I wasn't around for the Tyco and Tamiya era, haha. My uncle did have some kind of old buggy, thinking it was probably AE or Losi and I still have hope it will surface one of these days from a forgotten box in storage. One of the first RC projects I took on was fixing a rustler for a teacher at school that had an mechanical speed controller. Then of course I got my own Stampede XL 5 and a Losi Micro B (the OG Baja) when I was old enough, followed up with tons of other cars lol
@ I am also from the E/T Maxx era. Well I may have actually mentioned that in this video hah. I hope you find the old buggy that would be really cool and nice to have in your collection I’m sure! That’s cool about the old Rustler too. I used to have a couple of those older Micro-Ts. I wish I could find them because they’d make a great RC Icons video. Thanks for sharing!
I think it’s cool you’re keeping this basically stock plus the needed upgrades to make it a daily driver, especially when this was a sentimental purchase. There are already enough UA-camrs who turn every rc build into overpowered brushless systems. Not what this truck needs or what the drivetrain can handle.
Thank you! Yeah because of the sentimental value I want to keep it running as long as I can. I like an overpowered build as much as the next guy but I could build a Traxxas Maxx or something instead and it would be better for it. Thanks for watching!
I wish I would have held on to my original one! I feel like so many cool RC cars got lost to time lol. On the bright side, you’re in the hobby at an awesome time, everything is so much better now 😂 Thanks for watching!
It’s a great truck! You can find good deals on them from time to time. Just gotta upgrade those hubs and axles because they twist pretty good on stock power lol. Thanks for watching!
Oh man I had so much fun with mine. It was my first hobby grade monster truck as well. Buying all the hop up parts to make it handle better, and learning stiffer suspension just makes it roll over easier lol. I'm glad I never went brushless on mine. Seems everyone who did ended up breaking there truck constantly.
Awesome that it was your first too! There was definitely a lot of learning with my E-Maxx as well, soldering comes to mind for sure. Thanks for watching!
Just picked up my dads 3906 today. He bought it brand new and i broke it on my first rip with it. It has been broken nearly 20yrs and he has finally let it go. Now i need to get it back up and running. 😮 Should be interesting lol
You can buy some good ones on Amazon from companies like Zeee for pretty cheap, but I ran this E-Maxx on a couple 2s Lipos! You’ll need some low voltage alarms to keep from running them too low but it was fine otherwise. Enjoy your E-Maxx! I bought this one for the same reasons and I couldn’t be happier about it lol. 3906 gang 4 L 💪🏻
Welcome fellow E-Maxx lover! Thank you for the sub, and for commenting! The E-Maxx really is an awesome truck, I feel really lucky to have gotten another one.
I literally just bought a mint one for 200$ Canadian 😂 had only one scratch on the bottom plate I went to the hobby shop and got all the rpm a arms and bulk head supports that they had and upgraded the esc to the evx2 to run lipo my 5 year old loves it and i can make it even slower with the esc
@@Bash_TheStampede yes the evx2 has the lipo cutoff, don't want to risk having my kid playing with it while no safety on the lipos. And I got the EVX2 with a 775 summit motor for 60 bucks Canadian also brand new 😂 lucked out with that one. Was running the DeWalt motor on the summit but that engine sucks power like nothing my 7300mah lipos only last like 15 mins with the DeWalt motor was crazy lol
It would be fun brushless and the thought definitely crossed my mind but I think I’d just try to find one of the newer ones that can handle that type of power versus trying to build this one up for it. It really is a great truck either way. Thanks for watching!

It’s so good! My first one was green all those years ago but I couldn’t find one at the time. Have fun with it!
Found your channel from the associated SR27 review, stayed for the mini z and nostalgia content. Subscribed, really enjoy your content!

The two speed electric was the best.. this and the summit are still my favorites
I agree! It’s always so satisfying to shift them manually.
I bought one on e-bay. not new, it needed work, I had fun rebuilding it. Now I have fun with mine.
Nice! Yeah the Emaxx is great and worth a rebuild. The price on some of them new in box can be kinda crazy!
Damn i wish i got in the hobby back when these were new. My buddies had them tho. Great Video.

I have always wanted one of these to run around from time to time. I really like how it rips 👍🏾

Dammm love it, also was my first hobby grade and i ordered one off ebay haha
Nice dude! The E-Maxx is easily one of the best of all time in my opinion. I’m happy to have another one for sure!

Nice man! Hopefully the broken parts are widely available.
Sick!
Thank you!
Nice review... had one about 20 years ago! What NiMH batteries do you recommend for the OG 3906? Just bought one to feed the Nostalgia :)

The E-MAXX is awesome 👍 I have the original.
Just subscribed 👊

What a great deal! I guess the EVX2 has lipo cut off built in? I’m using a lipo alarm on mine since I have the regular EVX.
@@Bash_TheStampede yes the evx2 has the lipo cutoff, don't want to risk having my kid playing with it while no safety on the lipos.

Dang yeah that’s a battery drainer for sure! I never had anything with the 775 motor. Is it pretty cool? I’d imagine it has gobs of torque.
This needs brushless power thanks great truck to be fair it's got lots of power

I got mine but who all agree a mini EMaxx
That would be a lot of fun! They already have a mini E Revo so they’ve got the right idea going on!
