RC reviews, builds, how-to and action videos posted weekly!
I made this channel to share the RC experience with as many people as I can. Whether you're an established hobbyist or someone curious about RC I'm making videos for you! I've been in this hobby for around 25 years (now I feel old) and have had the pleasure of participating in the majority of what it has to offer, and after all these years I still can't get enough of it! I've learned a lot from being involved in RC for so long, and I like to make videos that help others. When there is something new to learn, we can learn together!
Current Posting Schedule
Sunday | Variety RC content. Most Reviews, builds, and project videos land on Sunday, weekly!
Tuesday | Educational videos. Testing this, some weeks.
Thursday | Trail Talk - RC Crawling/trailing while discussing an RC related topic. Most weeks!

I WISH I did these 6 RC things MUCH SOONER!
Here are 6 things that would have made my journey in RC a lot easier and more rewarding earlier on.
I've noticed more people commenting who are newer to the hobby so I've been trying to make a few videos that are geared towards helping make their experience better. This is one video that I think could help, because I felt like I had to learn a few too many lessons the hard way and I was missing out on one BIG thing that would have made the hobby SO MUCH BETTER earlier on.I think this will also be a fun video for people who have been in the hobby for a while as well because we all have things that we wish we would have done, and maybe some of you more experienced folks can relate haha.
Also, I experimented with different lighting, please tell me what you think!
I am aware of the annoying fly, and no that's not a booger in my nose, its a gray or white nose hair LOL.

I'm going to show you how to take your Ascent 18 almost all the way apart, lube and clean everything and put it back together! The TRX4M Maintenance videos I posted a while back seemed to be helpful to a lot of people so I figured I'd go ahead and do the same thing with the Ascent 18 because I needed to take care of mine anyway. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for a mainten...

MINOR Upgrades / MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!! | FCX24M
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
Two small upgrades and a couple of minor tweaks have turned the FCX24M into a very capable trail rig! Initially the FCX24M had a hard time navigating my usual trails. It was twitchy and a little too light weight to handle a lot of the rough stuff out there. A little extra weight here and a little tuning there and we have have really transformed the experience with this tiny little rig. We're go...

For 250 bucks lmao hell no
You think that’s what they’ll want for it?
Never mind I just saw where it might be 259 which a weird price lol.
Traxxas should drop it next week or so. Im excited just so i can stack my mini maxx, maxx, maxx slash, xmaxx on the shelf 😆🙄🤌
Oh that soon huh? Excited to see what it’s all about!
@@Bash_TheStampede that's what I was told.
Nice! So since you’re a Maxx connoisseur, which one is your favorite? I kind of just want the regular Maxx
@@Bash_TheStampede 😂 idk about that but I do feel like they are the best for extreme bashing. the regular Maxx is killer....Maxx slash is great....,xmaxx all the way! Not matter your choice buy hardened steel spur/pinion gear set when you buy the truck.
Do you recommend a particular type of grease for the gears? Marine grease, white lithium, red n tacky?
A lot of people like marine grease for their crawler gears. Ive used it in a few different RC applications and I liked it. I’ve never used red and tacky so I can’t report on that, but white lithium is pretty nice with metal parts if you want something less sticky. White lithium can be kind of hard on plastic though, so be careful where you use it. There’s also the udder butter from CowRC that a lot of people swear by. I haven’t used it yet but I’d like to try it some day!
I bought one on e-bay. not new, it needed work, I had fun rebuilding it. Now I have fun with mine.
Nice! Yeah the Emaxx is great and worth a rebuild. The price on some of them new in box can be kinda crazy!
What kind or what type of battery are you running on your rock van ?
I use the stock battery sometimes and sometimes I use a 3s 650mah pack from Tattu. It kinda depends on the vibe I’m going for
Hey man I added a new clearance links and brass kit but nothing will bolt to my front and back axle but if the back does it on a angle downwards could you help?
Good stuff, thanks for the detailed walkthrough
Of course! Thanks for watching.
A little action please 🙏
We’ve had a lot of bench videos lately haha. I’ll get some fun posted soon! 💪🏻
Thanks for a proper teardown
You’re very welcome! Eventually I’ll get one made for everything I tear down!
it will cost more then 2 groms!!!
I hope not but I can see it being 300 bucks.
It's probably more durable than a grom
If it can run a VXL, then I'm adding a TPSX 2, a trilateral slipper, a telescoping XMLQ dodecahedron v4 axle, the new mini 6 cell 2nd gen PRD interceptor and a Mega squirter QQP 4. It's going to haul ass.
Haha, Not the PRD Interceptor!
@@Bash_TheStampede All kidding aside I miss messing with RC's. Got back into mountain biking and now I'm broke LOL. I had more fun when I used to get drunk with my friend and play with RC's in my front yard.
@@mtbohana Mountain biking is a good time! I only had an entry level bike when I was into it but I have definitely seen how expensive it can get haha. Maybe you’ll be able to do both at some point! There are a lot of good entry points to RC these days that don’t break the bank. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! It made me laugh for real 😂
Just WHY? Made such a great rc look terrible. 😢 Well it’s yours. 🤷🏻♂️
Lmao the body? I know it looks bad - I accidentally knocked it off my shelf like 3 days after I bought it and the body exploded somehow. I guess I hit that lexan just right because it literally broke into like 5 pieces. Anyway I slapped this body together out of random parts just to have something on there for a while. I’m actually almost done with another body for it, so you may see that soon. I can’t promise you’ll like the new body, but it’s better looking than this one 😀
some wise words there. good tools, good radio, build stuff, quality first would be mine (after 45 years of RC). also get crawling/trailing
Thank you for the kind words! I’ll bet you had a lot of fun in those 45 years 💪🏻
I’ve put like 20 packs through this and I’m putting off doing maintenance just because I’m dreading trying to unscrew that center brace. Seems terrible challenging
Take it off with the shock towers still attached and heat it up near where the screw goes, and don’t be shy with how hot you’re getting it. Once that glue melts, it’s actually pretty easy to deal with but there’s absolutely no way it’s coming out without some heat!
New subscriber. I love this video. I’m a little under 3 years in the hobby and I’m still navigating through all these beginner mistakes. Battery maintenance is one of my biggest issues at the moment but I totally relate to all 5 of these. The 6th one I’m still being stubborn about. My excuse is I don’t have a race track close to me but honestly Im not social like that and I would really have to push myself outside my comfort zone to go race. That being said I can totally see how being mentored by experienced drivers would make a world of difference.awesome video 👍✌🏼
Thank you for the sub and thank you for the kind words! Yeah the tracks are far for me currently as well to be honest and I don’t get out as often as I used to, but it’s a great experience in my opinion! I understand the social sort of anxiety when it comes to starting racing though. It feels weird to just show up somewhere with a bunch of people you don’t know and then try to drive on a track with them lol! I have always found it to be a better experience than I thought it would be though, so I still think getting out to an event and competing is very worth while!
great video!!! thanks for making this video it helps as a noob!!
Thank you! I’m glad that it was helpful. I’ve been trying to pepper in a few more videos like this to help newer people out, and I’m happy that it’s doing its job 😀
Sorry about all the weird edits. I’ve been experimenting and I think it’s a frame rate issue? If you know let me know! 0:11
i love apples.
🍎
Who makes the stamped steel wheels you used ?
I think these are from RC4WD. They’re the same design as everyone else’s, you just gotta make sure it doesn’t have the extra offset to get the same fit.
@@Bash_TheStampede Thanks for the insight into this model .
@@kevincasey6876 of course!
So how do i keep from discharging my lipo to much while running my truck? Im under the impression this will damage the batt if discharged to 3vlt or less. My ascent 18 is on tha way and im new to this.
Good choice on the Ascent 18! One of my favorite little crawlers. Yes if you go under 3v per cell, the battery will be done for. Luckily most modern ESC’s cut off before that 3 volt threshold is reached! In the Ascent 18 you can run the truck til it stops and you should be all good. If you had an older ESC that came out before LIPO batteries became popular you’d probably have to stick a Lipo alarm on it or something so you know when to stop. I hope that helps!
@@Bash_TheStampede Thank you kindly!
Of course!
lol!
😅
Nice set of tips , you covered just about everything 👍
Thank you! I tried to cover as much as I could without going too far down any one rabbit hole.
Dude , get some light , the ceiling light and window don't cut it, specially in overcast days , your videos would improve 100% in quality, there's a bunch of cheap options online with good quality for the price
Dude I know. The overhead light is a relatively new thing and I think it helps with like close up on the desk kind of stuff, but lighting myself up during talking parts has been a struggle. I don’t know if you’ve seen many of my videos but I do have another lighting setup that I’ve used in other videos. It’s just a couple of cheap LED lights but I don’t think they’re bright enough. I might have to buy something else. Thank you for the constructive feedback! Do you have any budget-ish recommendations?
@@Bash_TheStampede i just found your channel only have been through a few videos, what light do you have and what are you recording with ?
@@nunocarneiro464 just a couple of Walmart LED panels for video lights. Like dirt cheap lol. The camera I use for the talking sections is the Sony ZV1F. Running stuff I usually use a Go Pro or my phone.
@@Bash_TheStampede keep your aperture at 2.0 and set the lights about 45 degrees from you and a bit higher than your eyes, if they are dimmable turn one a quarter less bright and adjust from there I think a good bet for you since you use a cap it would be a ring light that it would be good for the POV shots
Thank you! I’ll give it a try with the lights I have and if they’re not bright enough I’ll upgrade and see how that goes. I really appreciate it!
Nice review... had one about 20 years ago! What NiMH batteries do you recommend for the OG 3906? Just bought one to feed the Nostalgia :)
You can buy some good ones on Amazon from companies like Zeee for pretty cheap, but I ran this E-Maxx on a couple 2s Lipos! You’ll need some low voltage alarms to keep from running them too low but it was fine otherwise. Enjoy your E-Maxx! I bought this one for the same reasons and I couldn’t be happier about it lol. 3906 gang 4 L 💪🏻
And the Cashier slaps my hand as i grab extra plastic bag for two 2liters of soda. Go figure ? Imma callin fda 😮😂🤣😁
Haha!
Crazy how fast your channel growing I remember you being at 2k not long ago congrats
Did you mean 200? Cause I’d be stoked if I were at 2k right now 😂
yes!!!!! so cool!!!! are there comp line there?
Haha the only lines I could find were the ones I got. I tried one in the freezer but it fell behind a bunch of pizza boxes 😂
@@Bash_TheStampede nice!!!
Climb that cheeeeese!
Haha gotta find those lines wherever they are!
How do you like the losi mini b? Is it hard to clean after a dirt run?
No pretty easy actually. I think the Mini B is cool, but would be REALLY cool if you had somewhere to race it. It’s not the most entertaining basher. A monster truck of sorts would be more fun IMO but that’s just my opinion.
@@Bash_TheStampede thanks is it hard to clean the axle shaft in the rear? A lot of dirt is getting in my axle shaft right next to the differential.
@@tinyrcguy you should be able to just pop the tie rod (turnbuckle) off, and tilt the wheel away from the chassis. That’ll pull the axle out of the differential cup and you can clean it out.
What did you do to make it waterproof?
Not a darn thing. I just drove it in the water and hoped FMS did a good job lol. They did!
Cool spot , nice jumps , looked like fun
Thanks! This is a great spot to go do some bashing for sure! Idk why they shaped the grass hills like jumps, but I’m thankful for it!
@@Bash_TheStampede always !
Ascent 18 is a awesome rig , just a few free mods and tires and wheels and it's a Beast !
Definitely, I love my Ascent 18 so much.
@@Bash_TheStampede no doubt , I've only had mine a week , my first Redcat, I want a 1/10 Scale Redcat now too
@@jimbo4203 so do I
Maybe the big Ascent! I’ve been looking at that one lately.
@@Bash_TheStampede I know right , good price too
the slow zoom in where you shake your head. hahaha
Haha it seemed like the right thing to do there 😂
i got the imars, and it works great and its not too bad on speed of charge!
I’m glad you like it, and that the charging speed is okay for you! Thanks for watching!
What’s a good battery charger for mini crawlers?
I use the chargers in this video to charge my minis, you just need to buy or make an adapter for whatever kind of batteries you’re using!
I didn’t know I didn’t know if that nicer charger would work with the mini batteries. Thanks
@@tinyrcguy yep! The mini does really well with the little batteries too, but there are a lot of options. Just need an adapter and to make sure you charge it low enough 👍🏻
@@Bash_TheStampede thanks. Do you have a recommendation on a good lips bag?
Lipo bags
Wow, I am first time on your channel, what is this awesome body on trx4m? Custom?
No you can get this body from Injora! It’s also available on Amazon. I have a longer video on this rig where I go over the body and there is a link to it in the description. Thanks for watching!
i would use a small LED for the break lights so maybe the light doesnt bleed through the plastic.
It’s got the injora LED’s in there now. They are like wayyy to bright lol
i bought this body about 6 months ago, and i never put it on. i had some issues with the parts staying, when i used CA it melted the paint away - face palm- but its the defender and ij40 for the time being.
Weird about the glue not holding. I used shoe goo on mine with pretty good results!
Sick truck!
Thank you!
At first I thought that was real. Until I noticed the weeds😅😅
Haha dang, almost tricked ya! Thanks for watching 😀

What tires are you running?
Those are the RC4WD Falken Wildpeaks. I had them laying around and were a good size for this little rig.
