It would be at first, but then you'd have to start eating more to get energy to move all of that weight, which results in weight gain by muscles, and most likely bone growth so you don't break your legs.

This is ah STICKMAN-_- Hi.
Someone this is called the stress-recovery-adaptation cycle. A good experiment of this would be to do a resistance training program with barbells such as Starting Strength. In 6 months your force production will double or possibly triple because of the stress you are imposing on your body. Your body recovers, and NEEDS to adapt. Now come back and everything and anything you interact with your hands is much easier. Picking up that heavy stone is not so heavy because your body has adapted to picking up 400 pounds off of the floor.

Although that's just life as we know it. As far as current Terran life, many if not most complex plants and animals wouldn't be able to live in this world, and aerial ones almost certainly couldn't. Although we humans would probably be able to survive with lowered lifespans due to the stress it would put on our hearts.

Friends 4ever Well I just finished learning some stuff about gravity and orbits at the moment in Physics, and it was a bit of a guess.
If the sun halved in size, it would have 8 times less mass, and the radius of Earth's orbit of the sun would have to be 8 times larger. I don't really know how it would reach this point, which is why I said an elliptical orbit, presumably staying an average distance from the sun 8 times greater than it is now. +marcelosinico i think it there would be more pressure, so boiling point would go up, also the atmosphere may get thinner, and by thinner i mean less distance from earth to edge, cant say about hearts, would hope they would become more powerful, dont think it would be an immediate threat though, and with the extra mass/size, i have no idea about days/years, i think it would affect years more than days, by im not very clued up on physics

I could be wrong but I imagine the root pressure theory. The stronger the gravity, the more salts and minerals are needed in the root to provide a greater pressure to push water up the xylem, so more energy is used in active transport to bring in the salts, ions, and minerals against the diffusion gradient

right by using it's muscles to expand the inner parts of the tree and create lower pressure, therefore sucking the water up into the root. It's so simple.
