For many of the comments on here about them they were used by some cities to pickup the full loads from sweepers to keep them out on their routes. Most sweepers used to dump from the back and that’s one reason they were built.
Unique catch! I didn't know Heil once made PB loaders. Pretty cool to see a Heil product on something other than a garbage truck. The way the mirrors move in too is also neat!
Shawn Floyd not making them in the first place would of been more efficient, I don't understand their real purpose apart from fucking up the roads.. An army of sweepers with a couple of roro bins with built in compactors would be way more efficient.
Those also are used to scrape mud and dirt debris...do you have any idea of the weight factor???... c'mon people and think before making idiotic comments.
No WOUNDER THIS STATE WENT BROKE TO MUCH WASTED TIME PISSING A ROUND WITH PICKING THE SAME TRASH SWEEPER TRUCK AND VACK TRUCK 2 TIMES AND FINISHED . NOT WEAR OUT PAVEMENT.
perry spradlin ...do you really have that low of an intelligence factor???..city of Los Angeles has researched vacuum trucks and found them to cause faster erosion of asphalt roads than a mechanical one..and scraping does not significantly damage the roadways..
not satisfactory...BS...the trash in LA streets is no different from any other city that uses pelicans. they work. and they work WAY better than the useless trucks in this vid.
25mfd This is a late reply, but looking at the truck, maybe it wasn’t satisfactory, LA covers some pretty big ground, and that was a marathon, so it would have covered a lot of ground too, looking at the pelican, it has a really small hopper, and stating again, LA is pretty big, so maybe it wasn’t satisfactory, but I see your point, this truck does miss a lot of garbage, but if they put a hopper shield and a packer into these, it would be perfect.

they spill so much!!!
*Picks up garbage* *Looks out the window* *Half of the garbage on the ground* R.I.P
This is a different type of truck, i never seen anything like this, cool catch!!
Look inefficient.
Putting a packer in the back of these would of been a more efficient concept.

That truck is super ineffective for picking up garbage
The first yellow sweeper machine is not cleaning it well...
Awesome video I do really like these Pb loaders. Where do they dump at when there full?
when the loads are mostly leaves from the sweepers they dump at one of their yards. not sure where they went with this trash though
WasteManTony ..not true...usually dump trucks go to a transfer station and or a landfill.
They pick-up, like, two shovelfuls at a time.
two words for the city of LA sanitation dept...ELGIN PELICAN
2 facts for you.....it's not la sanitation that cleans the streets and la already tried the pelican and it was not satisfactory.

@@orangecitrus_6705 ..have to educate you armchair sweeper engineers who talk out their butts because you don't know squat...
What a mess street sweepers would have been more efficient.
great video, worthless concept though lol
jas ...just from an ignorant viewpoint...those trucks have there uses..
That's cool
A guy with a broom and shovel would have been more effective.
Shows your intelligence level...😂😂
Street sweepers? Anyone?
What a big mess it will take days
Actually took 5 hours to complete the whole marathon route.
I wood go back and ask for my money back for the shite trucks
I hate to be that negativity guy but those trucks are pointless lol beautiful tractors tho
Job security .....slow to scoop . drops half
Wow these things are useless
These are USELESS...way out of date.
These trucks are useful as trash
