I don't know how you guys manage to read each other's minds! All I heard were random squawks from the violins.
Here's one potential reason: They make the selection of the potential memes together. So the set of possible memes from which to select from is limited. Suppose they pick out 12 memes to print out and chose from. Eddie picks one of the 12, and Brett need only guess which one of 12 it is. Not an infinite number, just 1 of 12. Makes it much, much easier.

@@arisang Well, see, we put all our energy into grammar and writing, because our pronunciation is hopeless.
Joke aside, those who are native speakers of English don't speak bad English. They speak some dialect, or slang, but it's not improper. Language rules are dictated by those who use it, so a native speaker cannot be wrong. Of course, that's not to say they can't do spelling errors, and I'm not saying you don't have to respect the standard when you need to be formal (which is usually not needed on the Internet) either. It's just that in informal settings (like here), it's not necessary and you shouldn't judge people who use a more informal way to speak in informal settings.
A good analogy is : You ought to wear a suit in a very formal situation, but when you're just hanging out with friends, playing video games, it will look out of place if you wear one instead of more casual clothing. You don't judge your friends for wearing a t-shirt when you're hanging out with them in your basement, do you? So why would you judge how they speak? So long as you understand what they say, where's the problem?
Anyway, now that this is out of the way, the reason we non-natives might have a better time with formal writing is that we had to learn the standard first. We don't use any local dialect or slang; that's usually a thing only someone who is fluent in the language can properly do. So we master the standard first. But that doesn't mean we speak "better".
Plus, with the Internet, we often have more opportunities to practice writing than speech (hence why we can often have a strong accent even though we write perfectly). And in our native language, stuff like "there", "they're", "their" are totally different (in French, respectively : "là", "ils sont", "leur"), so it might help us differentiating them and not mixing them up.
And of course, that doesn't mean all non-natives are good at the English language either (I would say it's not even the majority). They can either fall short when it comes to informal language, or it's possible they don't even master the standard yet, so their grammar will look all over the place.
