If I could ask him a question it would be "how much easier has it been to build a program at MSU versus Oregon State?". I'd be curious how he feels about the ease of recruiting at MSU and potentially developing his team versus past experiences. Having a decent amount of resources from NIL to a budget for coaches, etc.
Probably not much different in terms of caliber players. Once he gets the mess of a prior admin's cancer removed, should be interesting to see how he does. Hope he is his own man, his own coach, and doesn't let old sparty impact his efforts. Start fresh. Will be tough sledding for sure - where's the '25 team ranked......54 or something? Tough for sure.
Wait till he’s recruiting for year 3, after he has this year, then another season, he will be rocking and rolling by yr 3. I expect him to have MSU to be at 8+ wins by yr 3, and to have Sparty to be a perennial 10+ season winner year in and out. Competing for conf titles and playoff spots here and there.
As a UM alum and fan I seriously liked Harlon Barnett and hoped he would have had more success. Think he walked into an unfair situation with the roster and was expected to work miracles. Think he is a truly quality guy who could have done well.
Dude, HB had a great run at MSU under D-tone for several years. But 2022 season he was DB coach of THE worst pass coverage defense in the entire country. 2023 showed very little improvement. Do some research guy. Both HB and Scotty Hazelton should have been fired after that 2022 showing.
He was a nice enough guy, but man coaching derailed MSU last year. The talent kept us in games, but in the Iowa game, HB went for it on a 4th down on his own 30. Against that Iowa defense. Bonehead call. Then said, after losing, "that only cost us 3 points". In a game where 3 points mattered. He didn't have control of his coaches. The special teams coach was god awful, cost us both the Iowa and Rutgers game. HB was not even a great 2ndary coach, he got released by FSU. He was just a nice guy and an amazing player.
I think we got a good one!

Wayyyy more resources (NIL, facilities, staff) in EL.

Yeah - cause that’s who you want. Not the best coach.
