Hi Tom, I’m not sure this was a fair low and slow test when you ran such a big temp difference between the two products. I think you should have adjusted the vents to match temps. Of course the hotter temp will burn out charcoal quicker.
I was thinking the same thing. I think there were too many variables. I'll look to see if you've done a comparison between Kingsford original vs low and slow.
WoW! I knew B&B would last longer.. I just didn't think there would be such a HUGE difference. B&B is the only charcoal I use now... I've tried so many and in my Masterbuilt Gravity 560, I get the best results from B&B. I have also utilized that Walmart deal... with a Walmart+ account, shipping was free. They only weird thing was receiving them in 2 boxes (1 bag/box) Thanks again Tom. I am really looking forward to you testing the new Masterbuilt Gravity 600 & XL! Thanks again!
I tried B&B for the first time this year and I love them. I've only used them for my SCA style steaks so far, but I'm going to try a low & slow rib cook soon.
Hey tom great vid....i like cowboy briquettes..nice and chunky and little ash...long burn ( Burned B&B for over 9 years .cant get over the prevalent ammonia smell recently)
Thanks for watching! I’ve not noticed that ever with B&B. I did try Cowboy briquettes a while back, 1/3 of the bag was broken briquettes and coal dust. Hopefully you have better luck
I dunno, close the bottom vent a bit using Kingsford for a fair test? You didn’t burn B&B that hot did you? I find B&B burns with MUCH more dirty smoke at lower temps (minion method) compared to Kingsford Blue. I’ve never used the low and slow Kingsford, but don’t like B&B at all. Thanks for reading! By the way, you get free charcoal from B&B don’t you?
Thanks for watching! They both were tested the same. No way of knowing that there would be temp difference. Nothing on the kings Ford bag stating directions for low and slow.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ really man? You were running thermometers in and on the cooker both times with outside temps being different as well. And we all know you can control pit temps like an absolute boss. You make awesome videos and do fun cooks and definitely know your way around charcoal grills more than most. Was just hoping for a more apples to apples comparison. Thank you and keep on grilling!
I bought the Kingsford Low and Slow for a brisket on my Webber Summit smoker. It was horrible getting to temp at 250lbs. I didn’t like it at all! I’m all in for the B and B it has been very consistent on all my cooks!
You should have compared the Kingsford Low and Slow to the Kingsford Original. Kingsford claims their low and slow briquets burn longer than their original. They don't claim it lasts longer than B&B. In your other video with the high heat briquets you correctly compared those against the original. Why didn't you do that this time? Oh well, I guess I can do that test myself. I use Kingsford Original regularly and my local Walmart does also sell the Low and Slow variety. Next time I smoke a brisket on my Kettle I'll try it using the snake method. I already know how Original performs in that setup.
Thanks for Watching Ken! Used once, a little hard to get around here. They did work, but didn’t really notice any huge difference to lump or briquettes
I'm a Kingsford guy, i bought the low and slow at Sam's club and returned to Sam's club. I will not be trying the high heat. I've tried all the so called flavored ones and I'll just stick with the original.

I agree! Just used some B&B on Easter Sunday 2024 and noticed a strong ammonia smell also.
Thanks for watching! Lol

Never a doubt!!!
Thanks for Watching Robert!
Big temp difference between tests. Not exactly a fair judge of the charcoal.

Very nice review. I like B&B orange bag😃
Me too Eric! Thanks for Watching!
I got a question for you. Have you done a video on the Nexgrill oakford 1150 pro? I would really like to know your opinion on this grill.
Thanks for Watching! Haven’t done the 1150…ua-cam.com/video/CRMUl_jEQFQ/v-deo.htmlsi=ot-At_jXYN7Lrgcf

Was it too hot?
Very interesting Tom. Is it a marketing thing for Kingsford? Maybe!
Thanks for watching Rob! Possibly

Thanks Joe! Appreciate you watching
Have you ever used b and b competition char-logs?
Thanks for Watching Ken! Used once, a little hard to get around here. They did work, but didn’t really notice any huge difference to lump or briquettes
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Thank for your reply, love your videos and trust your opinions.
I have them, I think they are smokier in flavor.
@jonmo2694 Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback

Now I'm curious about reviews on those flavored ones.
That’s crazy
What? You can get B&B from Wal-Mart for a little more than half of what I paid at ACE? Well don't I feel silly! Thanks, Tom.
Thanks for Watching! I believe they started carrying it last year. I still prefer to support my local Ace Hardware
They had 2 Pack->20# bags of cowboy briquettes for about $18, that I picked up this Winter.
Thanks for watching!
Should try it with 11 briquettes
Thanks for Watching!
The Kingsford would have lasted longer if you adjusted the temp.
Thanks for watching! Don’t think so
Great test! Just ordered some B&B through your affiliate link
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the support!
B & B has always laughed at challenges. Why bother
Thanks for Watching!
