Aren't you glad you waited on those Heavy Intercessors? :) Don't let the negative reaction the Desolation squad is getting ruin your excitement for them. If they work for you then that's great!
I think the desolation squads would look better if the weapons were held different. Old hvy weapons would use shoulders, tripods to hold up the weapons, or have to keep them down in a deadlift. These are just held in one hand like a rifle.... It makes it look light and no big deal, like an oversized foam weapon.
I will definitely Proxy the Desolation Marines somehow. The Weapons seem strangely configured and the fact that they have basically just given them to bog standard primaris marines, with NO armour modifications to make them more distinct. The Legs should have some sort or heavier armour/stabilisation like Firstborn Devastators and possibly some more interesting helmets with occular modifications. The Only advantage to using Bog Standard MK X armour for the Desolation Squad is that you could substitute intercessors or Hellblaster bodies for more variety. I think I will convert some sort of Shoulder mounted or Underslung weapons systems as Rifle style seems a bit of a strange choice. I love the Brutalis Dread, I feel it will also offer some great conversion possibilities, particularly if it allows for some different leg poses to normal Redemptor Dreads.
I think I might get this along with the new Salamanders Strike Force. I want the LT, a melta Dreadnought, and one squad of heavy intercessors to go with my grav armor theme. I'm not sure about having two of the Desolation squads though, as I would like to have a tank go along with my Eradicators, but it seems like they would be fun and effective. Too bad they don't have meltas to fit the theme. Missiles and rockets do explode into fire though!
Loving the meltas on the Dreadnought. If the Desolation Marines are limited to 5 man squads I might sell one on but I do like them so will probably keep them all 🤣
Those guns just manage to look both massively over designed and under designed at the same time. Will stick with recast Heresy desolators. The Arbiters look exactly as I imagined they would, which is both a plus and a minus - I had thought GW would shake up the design more, with using the Necro Enforcers as a template. Edited.
Arbites look great. The Desolation weapons are maybe 25% too big, a little over the top even for 40k, I'd have to see them in person to hope that makes a difference. Lieutenant multipart is interesting behaviour by GW, maybe this is a change of thought with spamming the LT releases, probably not 😊
I am really gonna struggle as time goes on, my two forces are thousand done which will probably be made Forever, but my Deathwing force (I only use Terminators, no primaris) has it's days numbered by the looks of it with gw trying to completely replaced the old-style marines
Blood Angels! So, the dreadnought is cool, the lieutenant too, but this desolation squad, I don't know. The weapons look rather weird to me. Its looking like they took a rocket launcher from a todays tank like vehicle or Apache helicopter and put it into an infantry weapon. Also in comparison to the arsenal which already exist for terminators for example. The terminators can only carry such rocket launchers on their shoulders with an terminator armour! But the primaris marines, which armour should be lighter and still less powerful, can handle such weapons with nearly one hand? At least they should have replaced the small rocket barrel (drum?) with a bolter. That would have made more sense, in my opinion. So the lieutenant I will buy, the dreadnought maybe, because I have already some dreadnoughts. For the long range firepower I think I will stick to my devestator squads. Except the rules will be that much better that you have to go with the desolation squad, but even then I would like to have more variety in my heavy weapons then only have rocket launchers.
It's about time the heavy weapons actually look like you need power armor to go Clint Eastwood on some xenos with them. The guard need two guys and some armored dollies to carry their heave weapons around, we don't even care if the punks were feeling lucky. I think I am going to snag three of these as apparently I got bit by the Primus bug after learning the 10th will have my beloved Blood Angels. I fell like I am betraying my BA's crossing the Rubicon but damn those sculpts just kick!
@@tabletopskirmishgames Exactly! That's why I LOVE my BAs. I fell in love with the Space Marines the moment I saw the cover at the game store back in '87 when I was a Senior in high school and naturally chose a chapter in my school colors. I think I lucked out! I still remember getting my first copy (of OH so many) of RT, 30 marines, three Rhinos, two Land Raiders and supplies for my 18th birthday. I got all of that and still had change from my Birthday money. (A crisp 100 dollar bill). My mother couldn't grasp why it was all so much but after pointing out that by spending all my money on games I didn't have time or money for drugs she got me another 30 man box of marines. After all these years to see my BAs in the proper scale and packing weapons as big as guardsmen like nothing brings a vampy smile to my face and warms my cold dead heart. See you all on the battlefield real soon!
Dreadnought is fine, claws look rad, body could be a bit different maybe but oh well. Desolation guys.... ehhhh... every time I see them I swing between "ugh" and "hmm" and "I think they'd look better in gravis armour" (I laughed out loud when the presenter asked that). Not sure if I'll get the box, depends on the price I guess. The lieutenant is a bit plain compared to the Indomitus-era ones with all their bling, I hope we get a preview of the upgrade sprue.
It does look lile a cool box set. But I wonder for the price. I think similar to the world eaters so I probably will get one from my local game store. Thanks for the review, 👍
The new desolation marines look like bad orc conversions. They're nonsensical, awkward, with no design lines that actually make sense. Your eye doesn't know where it is with whatever terrible sense of composition these were designed with. It doesn't get less creative than when designers just start slapping bits onto something and call it done. Super disappointing. I would like to see them do something like a long range support Redemptor Dreadnought with giant guns like a Deredeo. The claws just look silly and it's a tired design that doesn't bring anything fresh to the table. You can also convert something like this from the current model really easily and it would have been nice if they went in a newer direction instead of the same old tired crap. Also this box set has less than 30 models and will probably $200. Hard pass.
Hate the new Desolation models. The guns just look like a joke rather than a real weapon. "Oh lets start with a couple of big rockets, oh oh and lots of little rockets as well, and a bolter (got to have that); and could we squeeze in a lascannon or melta or or what about a demolisher cannon, or would that be too much....?!?
I think they missed the mark with the new marines. Maybe if they were heavies, but it just doesn’t really work for me. The Lt. on the other hand I am oddly drawn to, and can’t get that fast enough.

Yes! Good call 👊 100% we can't all like the same thing; that would be super boring 🤣
No no no they're terrible.
Well said mate 👍.

It does look like they have Nerf bullets in them too 🤣
For primaris it's nerf or nothin'!
Not bad. The lieutenant is going to give you lots of options, rather than a mono-pose.
Great to have that power fist option
Missed opportunity the lieutenant could have been gravis and the desolators as well
I like the idea that these move around faster but they would have looked cool in Gravis.
Is 1" really "faster"?

Those new desolation models look incredibly goofy.
🤣
I like them

The dog and 3D holo panel sold me 🤣
I'm wondering if they'll go well with Black Templar
The Brutalis should be good. These would give some good long range cover I guess?
Just drooling over the desolation marines!
I can't wait to see their data sheets and they'll look so cool with my Imperial Fists!
I’m keen on the Arbites.
Going to paint the drednaught as a salamander those meltas will come in handy!
Nice!
I thought it looked pretty good night be better as post-Heresy Iron Warrior salvage though.
Damn, that's some damn fine weapons for the Orks
🤣
Loves these. Such a cool box I might get one and start building a Blood Angel army.
Wow! They are like fully loaded robots.
This screams iron hands ⚙️🦿🦾 and raven guard 🖤

Yep, the weapons are over the top, size-wise.
They are massive 🤣
T shirt cannons! They should have been shoulder mounted.
The weapon is bigger than the space marine 😁

Yeah new Terminators have to be on the cards at some point. I really like the old school first born armies, my Space Wolves are all first born too.
@@tabletopskirmishgames there will be nothing like the original though, Primaris will never compare to the terminators no matter what they bring out
My Space Wolves could do with these models. Looks good.
These are going to be fun!!! The emperor protects

Be good to see the data sheet. I like to overtop vibe they are giving, but still love the Eliminators with Las Fusil for some heavy firepower.

I was thinking at least 2 boxes myself, but probably will go 3 lol.

🤣

Reminds me of the gun from The Fifth Element that opens up and all the silly extra weapons extend from it for comedic effect lol
@@Mr_Waffle. don't forget about the red button 😅
Next range refresh they can have baneblades glued to each shoulder by the tracks so they can all have TWO hands free for dual wielded bolt pistols!
Me too
I think they missed the mark with the new marines. Maybe if they were heavies, but it just doesn’t really work for me. The Lt. on the other hand I am oddly drawn to, and can’t get that fast enough.
thank god i only like real space wolves not the new stuff
The Desolation fellows are AWFUL the rest are quite nice however!
Pronounced Ah-gast-ass?
I was thinking about golf there I think 🤣
LOL those missile marines... The proportions and the nonsense overdesigned weaponry even for 40k standards. Easy skip on this one.
A bunch silly overwrought Overwatch fanboyism
