Hi, I recently found your channel from a reddit post. I'm a bit jealous of how your progress in a mere 6 months. But you must obviously study quite a bit daily.
For someone who has just used duolingo / memrise for a bit, where would you start after doing that for a bit?
Do you have plans to do an in-depth guide of your timeline of learning? I did see your video about beginner to intermediate, but I'm still a bit confused as to what u did on a regular basis or so?

I can't believe how that reddit post blew up, I wasn't expecting such positive feedback 😅 I'm gonna keep posting weekly videos until I run out of things to talk about, so keep the recommendations coming! What kind of stuff would you wanna know in an in-depth guide? A breakdown of my daily routine, how I progressed over time, a combo?
At the beginning you wanna pack on as much vocab/kanji as you can, because everything else won't be very accessible to you yet. I'm gonna post a tutorial on how to use Anki this Thursday, and I also really like using WaniKani to really focus on kanji.
And no worries, I write a lot too haha

As you say anki guides would be good. Using those addons and stuff to maximise learning from anime or manga and stuff! Still keep up with the good work!

Old video, but here's my goals. My dad speaks Japanese btw.
I want to be able to tell my Dad about the lifestyle I want. I want to move to Japan for 2 years and become fluent, then come back to the US for one year. After that I want to learn another language. French or Italian for example, then move to France/Italy for 2 years to become fluent. Learn, move, move back, repeat. I want to explain this (really really ambitious) plan for my life I have and how I want to find a wife who will want to do this with me, and get a job that allows me to work from anywhere in the world.
Thats the goal. Bonus points if I can carry on a regular conversation after. Wish me luck :D

Wow this is great info, I’ve been learning for almost 9 months but 6 months were only dedicated to kanji and my first 1000 words (quickly found out that’s not enough), and now Im mostly learning through immersion and Japanese resources. Still , vocabulary and studying kanji is important, it’s whats gonna allow you to “take a stab” at words you don’t know but can guess what they might mean, or the nuances between words that are translated to english as the same. Some times I feel the big youtubers forget what it was like to learn and just give you a super optimized method that in reality, is sorta demoralizing for anyone who hasn’t gone through it already. This is why channels like this are important. Here’s to getting fluent!
Thank you for the kind words 💕 Yeah I found the same and that's why I wanted to make the channel. There's so much that goes into 'learning how to learn' and so many different resources that work for different people. Learning a language, especially Japanese, is a bit messy and doesn't really fit into one neat box, and I wanted to share want I've learned from all the bumps along the way. Also keep up the great work with your studies!
I’m currently studying only Japanese kanji. I know 38 kanji and my goal is to learn 2,000 kanji. I’m more focused on learning German (the 4th language) but learning Japanese kanji is a preparation for learning Japanese (the 5th language) in the future. After I’m done with the German language it would be a lot easier to study Japanese (knowing at least the most common kanji). It’s better to have some knowledge rather than starting from scratch. That’s why I decided to study German and Japanese kanji simultaneously
That’s a really good plan! Having the kanji under your belt once you do switch gears will definitely make it easier. How are you finding German? That’s a language I might like to learn in the future. And what other languages do you have under your belt?
@@AliviasNook I study German from duolingo. It helps you a lot to reach an intermediate level. I speak Greek, Albanian and English. All three of them at a quite high level. Now my goal is to learn German and after that I will learn Japanese and then Italian and Spanish.

@@AliviasNook My nationality is Albanian. But I was born and grew up in Greece and my parents taught me only Greek. Then we moved in Albania and I was forced to study Albanian from scratch in the 8th grade. I struggled a lot at school, it took me 4 years to manage to speak properly. At the age of 20 I began studying English (before that I only had a little understanding of the language). I devoted 2,5 years learning English and today I can proudly say that I can speak “International English” very well. Yeah in English I’m far from the level of a native speaker , but as a self-taught student I feel proud that I learnt so much. Now I study German because I want to live in Germany. I also want to learn Japanese because I love that language. I watch a lot of anime. I also love Italian and Spanish so definitely I’m going to learn them in the future as well. I wish you good luck with your Japanese learning 😇😇
That’s really cool! Your English is super good, I actually thought that it was your first language from your writing. Germany would be a super cool place to live, I’d like to visit it someday. Good luck with your studies as well, keep it up!

Why do actual Japanese people pronounce it kha-nji and not like her saying can-ji?
The Japanese are so smart and have invented a ton but that's a stupid writing system lol
