Damn, this is the darkest Jazza video I've seen - but it's still fun and creative. You drawing the characters first, and then showing a 3d model made me think of creating a 3d print off of a 2d drawing. A technology to extrapolate a 3d print from a 2d drawing would be pretty amazing, I'd love to see such a thing exist. Based on other AI tech we've seen, it definitely seems possible - and if it would render and then allow further refinement it could be a really useful tool.

van gogh wasn't "insane". he just dealt with extreme bipolar and manic episodes. vincent admitted himself in a psych ward voluntarily, and it wasn't anything like a padded cell. although I understand the overall point of your comment, it still feels terribly insensitive.

    • @suemccutcheon3342
      @suemccutcheon3342 Рік тому

Actually my art history books on poor old Vincent say he was epileptic and historically sanitariums were where people went in those days for care and help dealing with things like that…. It seems that he was posthumously diagnosed with psychiatric disorders in more recent times by an industry pushing medications more than understanding creative imaginative sensitive thought and art practice … and who gained what from such a diagnosis … Vincent certainly wasnt helped by it …. But i guess someone furthered their own reputation…..nobody is perfect but mental illness has got too trendy and lucrative for some in the industry that has been created since Vincents time, and there is often another agenda in play.
And some pretty sane but very talented modern day artists have to put up with popularised media driven stigma backed up by the example held up that is vincents life “diagnosed “ decades later and just an opinion anyway …. Artists who are very different to vincent except that they have art in common have to sometimes endure the stigma / bias created by such hijacking of vincents life so now the irrationality in the thinking goes that the more talented an artist is then the more mentally fucked up they must be …
Talk about stupid…. just imagine if the same reasoning was applied to others trades and professions like doctors, airline pilots, CEOs, politicians, welders, carpenters, farmers, bankers, engineers, lawyers and any other proffession you care to name? …. Artists have to wear too much stigma just for being artistic and as an older professional artist thats had to hear too much crazy reasoning one almost wants to cut ones ears off for peace. I am so glad Jazza had some fun acting up and sent this up so brilliantly …. We need a lot more happy accidents and beating the devil out of it in this world and if the uninitiated dont understand those terms and other art speak and art concepts then that should just be their problem. Not ours to endure the stupidity of those who pretend to know something but dont get it at all at the expense of those who do… now maybe i better stop painting landscapes just in case someone gets the wrong idea.

8:06 Being totally honest, it seems as though this game is further stigmatizing already misunderstood mental disorders. Schizophrenia, OCD or anxiety do not make someone insane, let alone murderous and it feels quite wrong to use these disorders to inspire horror characters. I'm not saying this to condemn this game or Jazza but I do think it's a conversation worth having as to whether media that uses mental disorders to inspire horror perpetuates negative stereotypes around people with these disorders.

I’m sorry but I have to comment my thoughts on this. This is honestly upset as someone with mental illnesses and Autism this video felt so stigmatizing. Mental illness and disabilities are already greatly misunderstood and stigmatized in media and in society in general. Just because people have something like Schizophrenia, GAD (general anxiety disorder), OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), or MDD (major depressive disorder), or anything else does not make someone insane or crazy. While there have been people with mental illnesses that have done wrong, that doesn’t make it the majority, nor should it be joked around about.
The mistreatment of people like these are still going on TODAY. I’ve been in a mental institution for depression and it was horrible. We treat horribly, made fun of, belittled, had anger lashed out at us. Some of the staff tried to start fights to get Patients in trouble and they would be wrestled down and sedate them, and we minors, think about what might have been happening to adults. Straight jackets aren’t even used anymore because so many passed away or were greatly injured (like dislocated shoulders) which were never treated because “they are just insane”. And Lobotomies have destroyed so many life from making people feel like that lost part of themselves to turning people into vegetables and even death. If you just search the term lobotomy you’ll see articles about the horrors about it. People with just anger issues or depression were forced into the procedure, regardless of age, including children.
I understand that this was a joke and you meant no harm in making this video, however it still is not okay. And I also know many are going to comment that it’s a joke, not to take it seriously, or that I’m acting like a Karen, but as some who has mental illnesses and a mental disability, I think I have a right to say this. Even if one people see this video and it adds to their stigma on the mentally ill, then this video did harm.
I’ve been subscribed for 5 years. I know Jazza is kind and caring, but this video was not ok. Though I do appreciate the warning.
    I’m not mad, just disappointed.
Sorry for the long comment I usually never comment, also sorry for any grammar or misspellings. Thank you for reading. If you need any clarity just comment and I’ll try to explain.
    Edit: grammar

I watched to the end to see it what it was about as I also saw the instagram post about 2 days before hand. I was hoping that he would at the very least raise awareness about mental. I also didn’t just watch this video, as I mentioned in my post I have been subscribed for 5 years. Also complaining never makes anyone happy or feel better about themselves so I don’t understand what you’re trying to say there.
Also no I don’t think that CoD causes murderers I have family and friends that play those games and are great people. I also play games like CoD before. It’s not kind to assume other peoples stances on things.
Lastly, just because families of those can see it’s a joke, which not all subjects should be jokes, doesn’t mean people who actually have been though those experiences are okay with these joke. While you don’t have to agree with me, at the very least reply respectfully. I don’t think either of you fully understand the point I was making and maybe you can take another look through the whole post.

Jazza, this is probably the first time I've really been disappointed in you. I normally wouldn't say anything but Bob Ross had a reason for being who he is, and this is kind of... disrespectful to that. I suppose it impacts me differently than the other people on here, because I was born and grew up in the midst of people finally realizing the soldiers that came back were still human and still suffering and there was heavy influences in the culture of the day of exploring and understanding PTSD, as seen in Magnum P.I. and several other shows. Ross took up painting and being who he was as a way of combating his own demons, because he didn't want to be the kind of person war had made him.

Jazza I have been subscribed to you for many years and I love your channel. Your content in this video was very fun with the "evil versions" of artists. But the board game being sponsored is adding to the stigma against mental illness and disorders.
Seeing these characters who power up into "insane form" via their disorders and become more violent and bloody and have "disorder cards" with "superpower-like" abilities is ignorant and adds stigma.
It is one thing to have an "evil" character who has (insert disorder here) and it is another thing to portray (insert disorder here) as meaning the person is inherently evil, you get what I mean?
Also I looked into their other games and they put anxiety and OCD in the same category as things like "demonic possession".
It is so exhausting to have to fight this stigma and misinformation every day. I have seen other commenters voicing similar opinions. I wanted to leave a comment because it is bothering me. I hope you will do the right thing and address this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Although I adore Jazza and his work, this feels highkey insensitive; it only works to further the negative stigma of both mental illness and inpatient hospital visits.

I'm feeling Some Kind Of Way about the whole ...skit? Good voice, good art, bits of art history too, overall a lot of good stuff otherwise, but the premise is making me feel... not great. But I can't put it into words any better than that. (And yes, I saw it's a joke, that's part of the issue.)
