Thanks so much for the tip about the monkeys. I'm traveling soon to barbados and in general kinda have an insecurity about monkeys due to random attacks I've heard and have did not know they had a lot in barbados.
You are welcome Sacred, you generally find them in areas where they can access fruit usually in gardens etc and in the gulleys. But for my experience they try to keep away from humans. Hope that helps💕☀️🏝️
Greetings from Montreal! We will visit Barbados in two weeks time. Love your video, you offer great tips. Can I ask - if we wish to visit St. Lucia for a day, is that a crazy idea? I believe that there is no ferry and it would involve local airlines to fly in and out - most interested in walking the Pitons. Your advice would be appreciated if you have information. Thanks 🙂
Greetings to you too. 😊Thank you for your support, it’s very much appreciated. Literally just got back from a 7 day cruise from Barbados that stopped at St. Lucia! We saw the Pitons from a Catamaran. You are right there is no ferry unfortunately, it’s definitely flights. I will check with my friend from St. Lucia and get back you!

Hi , we are going to Barbados in February. one thing I want to know that is there anywhere we can get foil wrapped baked fish with pepper and okra . We loved that from Jamaica and Turks and Caicos 😊
Hi Deb, lovely to hear from you. I would suggest a great place to get baked fish would be At Oistins on the south side of the island. It’s a well known tourist attraction especially for their fish Fridays, but locals also go there to eat. It’s also a good place to go in the week when it’s quieter. I am not sure if you can get fish baked specifically with okra there but you could definitely ask. Okra is popular and sold on the island so it’s definitely worth asking. Also it’s worth asking local vendors who sell cooked foods from their white vans… fish is generally widely available especially on the coast and at the fish markets. Hope that helps.☀️🏝️
Thanks for the tips! I'll be on the island next week (Wednesday to Sunday) to celebrate my retirement with 30 guests. Do you have nightlife recommendations for a mature crowd?
That’s fantastic Cassandra! 👌🏾Where on the island will you be based?
@@expatbarbados-jaeophelia we are staying at The Club resort and spa

I would say QP Bistro to accommodate all of you, but you would need to book. They have great entertainment and they have different seating areas. If you let them know the celebration they would definitely go all out! We have had some fantastic dining out experiences there. Make sure to go when they have entertainment too. Start your evening at sunset for the stunning views and atmosphere and have cocktails! Then move onto your meal. Ask for tables with view and also close to band. People do dance after the band starts. This place is also not too far from where you are staying. Taxi ride. The staff are super friendly and excellent service. Wow factor decor and vibe.

I’m a vegetarian/vegan. The fresh produce in Barbados looks great. Are there vegetarian/vegan restaurants? Also, do remote working travelers use Airbnb or are there other choices?
Hi yes there are restaurants selling vegetarian and vegan. I am working on a video about renting properties, so keep an eye out for it. People do use Airbnb a lot but you can use realtors.

Hello there again, I sent you a previous message that I will be visiting there Feb 2024. I would like to be near tourist area. Some of the other videos of other tourists, Georgetown Barbados is close to tourists area.
St Lawrence Gap is a tourist area in the South. There are lots of hotels there. Holetown in the west has some lovely hotels too. It has a lot of things on your doorstep too.
Thank you so much for the useful information you gave. Car hire. Is it easy to drive traffic wise. I have been told that Taxi is expensive
Hi Tavinder, if you are used to driving on the left hand side of the road then it should be a easy transition. You still have to watch out as the roads can be narrow like U.K. If not then you would have to take your time and get used to it. Drive in daytime until you get used to the pot holes which you find in some areas. You can hire cars quite easily. Taxis are expensive now as the rates recently went up after being low for many years apparently. But getting the buses is very easy and much cheaper! Hope that helps. 😊
@@expatbarbados-jaeophelia
Thank you.
I have booked two weeks end of November at Raddison and Hilton room only. Is eating out really expensive compared to uk.
I live in Birmingham Uk , so it should be ok to drive. Can you hire car from town or airport only?
Thank you for your guidance
Hi Tavinder you can hire your car before you leave U.K. They would probably meet you at airport with the car. If this is your first time in Barbados and you are not sure of the driving conditions then I would get the taxi to the hotel. They are not too far from airport. Then once you see how things are start driving. But remember that buses are cheap and easy to access. So you might have the car for specific times when you know you really are going to use it. I would definitely book hire car before it gets booked up as the time you are coming is high season. You can Google, but definitely compare prices before booking. You will have a fantastic time. I will be there at that time so keep in touch.
@@expatbarbados-jaeophelia
Thank you. My first time . Only want to hire car for few days to explore the island. Looking forward to this.

Eating out is expensive if you only go the expensive restaurants which are great for special occasions where you really want to splurge. But you can eat at so many beach bars, rum bars for great prices. Also check out the many vans where locals are selling their hot foods. There are so many places to eat you will love it. As soon as you walk from your hotel you will find places. Ask the receptionist where to go. Check out trip advisor and join Facebook groups where people support each other by sharing information. Make sure you go to the local vendors for fresh, fruit, vegetables, coconut water and cooked foods.
Can you please make video about the 12month freelancing visa.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. 😊Yes the Welcome Stamp is definitely worth considering. I hope to get to interview people on it too! It’s a great video idea….Coming soon💯🐠☀️🏝️
Hi Jae. Can you enlighten us about the life of people who are over 65 retiring in Barbados, and what kind of requirements exist to qualify for residency?

I wonder how often do you see the monkeys ? Are they aggressive and do they block the entrance of your home sometimes ?
Hi Esan, I have only mainly seen them from afar and they are usually trying to get out of sight of humans! They will run across garden hedges/walls. Usually you see one who seems to check if it’s safe to cross, then if it is the others follow including babies. They would only become aggressive if you were trying to attack them eg throwing things, or they felt you were threatening them. They are looking for food so if your garden has fruits then you are more likely to experience this. If not then you may not even see them. If you see them let the pass. They won’t bother you. (Based on my experience)
Is it generally safe? Is there much petty theft? Do I have to move everything in my car to the boot for a 5-minute grocery run?
Hi Harold, lovely to hear from you. Barbados is generally very safe in my experience. Others also say the same. Not heard of petty theft. No you don’t need to do that. But I am always mindful wherever I travel to take care and not put myself in dangerous positions I wouldn’t in my own country. But the positive for me is that I don’t feel the same level of fear or anxiety of crime in Barbados as I do in other countries including U.K. In U.K. I would put everything in the car boot as you described. Not in Barbados…. Just lock the car. Hope that helps. ☀️🏝️
The monkeys surprised me! Now, I know.
Yes Eric, I was really surprised too! 😯I never knew they were in the Caribbean! Thank you for watching and commenting 🏝️☀️
Hello, is The Tides Barbados a resort in Barbados.
Hi Sharon, Tides is a fine dining restaurant. It’s lovely for a special occasion in my opinion. Great service and food. The view and decor is stunning. They also have live performances. ☀️🏝️
I do like to work remotely PLS like to know the requirements
Hi Suzy, this is the link for the Welcome Stamp Visa for people who can work remotely. Check requirements! Hope it helps you. 😊
www.visitbarbados.org/barbados-welcome-stamp
Hello there, I will be visiting Barbados Feb 2024. Where is a good resort to stay and I can check out if they offer all inclusive. I don’t want to be. You mentioned monkeys. Don’t like them at all. Are they in the general vicinity of Barbados. Or just the beach life.
Hi Sharon, lovely to hear from you. I would recommend you go onto Booking.com and search for Barbados hotels/resorts all inclusive. I personally don’t do all inclusive in Barbados as you can get good food easily outside the hotel if it is in South or West. You could do breakfast only and then eat out later etc. So check out what is availability in relation to your budget and the time you want to travel. In my experience you may occasionally see monkeys in gulleys where they tend to live and these tend to be in neighbourhoods where locals and residents live. But not in hotels ….unless the hotel is located next to a gulley. They are mainly looking for fruit trees, so it’s generally residents with fruit trees in their gardens who have a problem. So if you were staying in an Air BnB in a residential area with fruit trees in the garden then you would probably have them pass through. But you could always ask by emailing the hotel. Hope that helps. I have never seen moneys at the beach roaming.
Jae, I guess the first thing we all want to know is how foreigners can retire in Barbados according to regulations, which seems to require having several million dollars or own property in Barbados. What is the truth about this? All we hear is that you can't get residency in Barbados unless you have 5 million dollars in the bank....
Hi Dovy, there are different ways which are more achievable certainly from the U.K. It’s a good topic for future video. I will be interviewing people in the future which may help. I am doing seasonal retirement which means I stay in Barbados for 3-5 months. Check entry requirements as they may be different for different countries.
@@expatbarbados-jaeophelia That would be great! And more description of your life as a winter "snowbird" would also be great. For those of us from the US and Canada......to follow in your footsteps, especially in the retirement years. All we hear online is how hard everything is to spend time in places like Barbados, but not as much about how easy it is. Or that the Caribbean is more just for people of Caribbean and African ancestry. And of course how tough it is to live there. Your experience will help alot in my humble opinion!
I will do my best. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. 🌞🏝️
@@expatbarbados-jaeophelia Keep up the good work. You're very focused. I get so bored with videos of laughing young couples carrying on about food in different places....
