What’s always fascinating about Kratos is that many people think he’s running on only anger. But it’s not just anger fueling him it’s guilt,sadness,loss, the fact he knows that the last thing his family saw was him ending their life. All those emotions form an extremely volatile character who only knows how to do one thing: lash out
And the ashes on his body serve as that painful reminder….

Kratos gets a bad rep as a stereotypical “angry macho man”. But this trailer shows that he is a tragic character and the game shows that his reaction to the world around him is authentic. This trailer really nails the center of his character.

@@adriananic8258 That's the European version of the game, they replaced the Spartan soldier with the undead Spartan, because original one was brutal. In the original version, Kratos actually has to sacrifice the Spartan soldier who starts begging for his life after he realizes what's gonna happen.

Anyone who truly knows the full story behind the series, this trailer brings a river of tears. Lysandra Caliope and Deimos, his family murdered. Pandora lost in the flames. I try sometimes to put myself in his shoes to see what it feels like to suffer that much and just the idea hurts my heart.

My heart started aching when I saw his loving child crumble away. And when the music hits made me want to cry for this man.
For those of you who don't know; the story is about kratos, a normal spartan, being at war, and he and his fellow warriors are terribly losing. So kratos calls out to the god of war, and asks him to grant him the power to basically survive and gain victory in this war. In exchange, kratos is forever at the will of the god. The god forces kratos (I think without him being aware) to burn down Athena's village, and slaughter many innocent people, including his own daughter and wife. Kratos realizes what the god made him do, and is of coarse sad and crying. The other gods are upset with his "unforgivable" actions, and as punishment, they make him wear his daughters and wife's ashes on his skin giving him nightmares and sadness of them for the rest of his life. Which is why his skin is so white. Kratos basically gets revenge, by killing the god of war, and takes the god's place. Making kratos the new god of war. They sucked at showing it back on PS2, but it truly was and is an emotional story.

Loven Tidus I'm only on #2, but a demigod is by definition the child of a human and a god, like Hercules and most of the other Greek heroes. Kratos may have gained (and later lost) his full Godhood by taking Ares' place, but he's always been a demigod by nature of his parents.

I think a lot of people forget Kratos was actually human and had emotions, and then he became the savage, god-killing machine we know him as in the games. This trailer captures a once normal, Spartan military general Kratos, so goddamn perfectly, with his family, and his happiness, and we even see him smile, something so rarely seen in the God of War games. For a very brief moment, everyone gets to see Kratos as the good and kind person he once was.
But then vision fades...and turns to ash. Kratos is reminded of what he did, what has been done to him, all that he has lost, and his plans for vengeance. And we, as an audience, are also reminded of what Kratos has now become...an immoral, ruthless, cold-blooded killer.
This is the story of his path to revenge...and his ascension to god-slayer.

After GOW 4 i feel this commercial more intense and even more sad, kratos still has a difficult life, another wife is gone... i dont know if he can take more pain ;(

This trailer is up there with the likes of the “Believe” Halo 3 commercial. It is so well done and captures Kratos’ character perfectly in such a brief period of time.
Kratos has been through a lot but he has been given a second chance and plus only real fans get mad and sad with him as well

Watching this trailer after the end of Ragnarok is priceless. We know how much Kratos lost, how much mistakes he did, how long he was enraged. Seeying him finally regaing his humanity, even if it's slowly is very heart warming.
