Identical machine as the King Canada 16 inch. That T handle wrench is important for a pinless blade installation. Forget just using the thumbscrews. Always tighten with the T handle wrench, never have any problems
Pinning this comment! Thanks! I started doing this after I read your comment and it makes a huge difference. I'm using painless blades with ease now!
Loved hearing your little singer and noisemaker in the background
The most important thing about scroll saws is the ease (or difficulty !) with which the pinless blades are fitted. For this hobby grade machine this system is pretty good, but it still cannot compete with the - much more expensive- Pegas saws..🤷🏼♂️
Just picked this up on an impulse buy, so this video gave a lot of good context for a beginner like me!
Does anyone know if there's a way to cut off annoying and loud background music? (So that i can cut off CC because it covers too much of the video with sound off?)
Would have been good to have seen the pinless blade in action and any problems that may have occurred in its use. It seems that the saw is more for pinned blades.
100%. The clamping for pinless blades is not really good at all. I really struggle getting a good clamp on pinless blades to the point where I don't even use them
Should I get this instead of the dewalt ? I’ll be cutting acrylic
Can you buy "aftermarket" blade clamps that will hold pinless blades better?
Hands down on painters tape. Don't know why but I just finished a project without the painters take. What a nightmare getting the pattern off then having to sand.
thanks, appreciate the review. did u ever figure out those straight blades?
Yes, actually, someone made a suggestion here in the comments. You can use an hex key instead of trying to use the thumbscrews to tighten the blade in place. It made a huge difference
So how is the tool after 6 months? I'm considering it for right now but maybe I just want to bite the bullet and invest in the pricey kind.
honestly sucks i wish i had gotten the dewalt or something better
too smart with the painters tape.
Yes! I was transfering my images with transfer paper. What he did was a much better idea!
I agree with others, that music is painful
Rikon and Wen are the same saw.
Harbor Freight sells theirs for $99. For basic scroll saw work you can't beat the price. $200 for a Ryobi seems a bit overpriced
A reviewer for the Harbor Freight model said it isn't powerful enough to cut anything thicker than 1/4". I haven't looked up the amperage on the HF model though.
can't get mine to accept the non pin blade.. Struggling. GRRRR
I struggle with those as well; so much so that I don't even try to use them anymore. Had I known this was a feature I wanted and knowing the difficulty this saw presents, I probably would have bought a different saw...
As an owner of this and wish I wasn't I will warn all lookers to keep looking. This saw is poorly designed especially in both the top and bottom screws that hold the saw blade. Both will strip and break from the plastic knob that holds the screw that locks the blade in place. Leaving you with almost no way to tighten or release the blade. Keep shopping elsewhere.
I think this is a fair comment. I struggled with trying to clamp the pin-less blade. I'm just going to use pinned blades but if you're trying to do fine work and need smaller pin-less blades, this probably isn't the saw for you
Have you found an alternative that hopefully doesn't break the bank?
Im sure your video would have been great but the music playing while you talked totally did my head in sorry had to turn off
FYI never say “this here” just say “this” proper English
My wife whipped me into shape on these things. She didn’t want me sounding dumb in front of her CEO
While this is a helpful video it's distracting because of the continuous focus problems.
This is super helpful but the MUSIC! It doesn't add anything to the video and if anything is distracting. We're not here for the music....just your knowledge.
Possibly the worst scroll saw ever. Table is way too rough, green plastic insert not level with table, and so on…just awful to work on. Blade tensioner a joke, do yourselves a favour and get the top saw and be forever happy.
i came here for the sound of the machine, imagine a review which doesn't show one of the most important aspects. Sad and leaving
