Thank you for sharing a taste of England to us across the pond. I always enjoy these videos and often find inspiration that sends me to my sewing room, pronto!
I love those little blocks and the interesting look that your variation offers in the quilt. Thank you for sharing all the content trough the year. Merry Christmas 🎄 and happy new year to everyone. ❤️
Thanks for another great tutorial. You just gave me a great idea on what to do with a Christmas jelly roll, rather than waste a lot of the strip I could make the centre square bigger and cut the 2.5” strips in half to 1.25” which would reduce the waste. I can cut the central square first before cutting the strip down to 1.25” to get the bigger pieces.
It’s a stack and whack. Put 4 squares on top of each other, cut into 4 on a bit of a wonk. Then number the pieces clockwise starting top left. Don’t touch stack 1. Take the top layer from pile 2 and move it to the bottom. Take 2 layer from stack 3 and, without changing the order, move to the bottom. Then, from stack 4, take the top 3 and place on the bottom. Next, sew the sets of 4 back together. Repeat through the whole batch of fabric that you have. Trim squares to the smallest block you have made, then sew it all up into a quilt. I have done this with layer cakes which looks great. 12 fat quarters stacked in 3 piles and then the blocks sewed up makes a good sized lap or sofa quilt. And it’s fast!
Thanks! This is a very versatile block that makes a great leader ender project. I would like to see your final layout when you get to that point. Your variation is similar to how Terry Rowland pieces hers for her Colourwash quilt. She doesn’t always start with 1.5 inches tho, just any little crumb with enough room for something to be left after seam allowances, which helps to give the final quilt an more artsy, organic look than the strict symmetric blocks the Moda pattern creates. It is my current leader ender project. Kate Jackson at the Last Homely House channel also has featured this method. She calls them “Terry blocks”. Karen Brown does a larger size of the Moda style block as one of her scrapbusters as well, if anyone has slightly larger scraps and would like a quilt that will come together even faster.
Another fabulous tutorial Jeanette!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I love using up my scraps! However, I wasn’t able to download the pattern. The link took me to your tools you were using. Could you please send me the link for the pattern? Thank you again and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
It's a stack and whack made of squares stacked in fours and cut into wonky quarters. Then rearrange the colours and sew back into squares. I'm guessing the original squares are 10in?
I clicked on what claimed to be the free pattern for the Winterlude quilt. All I got was 4 or 5 items listed for sale. Where is the pattern? I most honestly hope that will be corrected quickly.
A brilliant way to us scraps up. Thank you for another useful tutorial.

Great idea to not waste any bits of scrap material in our bins, bags, and everywhere. Thanks everyone so much.
Great idea! I have lots of strips that are between 1.5" and 2" width. I like how it will offset some of the center squares. Thank you!
How fun. Thanks for a great idea for using scraps
That is patience! Beautiful

Is there a tutorial/pattern for the quilt hanging on the wall during this video? It looks as if it would be a fairly quick one to make.

I love your channel. How do you get the scrap bags?
You have lovely fingernails. Sometimes UA-camrs have nails that actually detract by distracting. And this is wonderful scrap quilt content!
Thanks for sharing
Link to free pattern doesn’t work.
Please show the whole quilt...for a while I thought we were making one on the wall!
Link is not working. Thank you!
