Here is an IHG question for ya that I can’t find an answer for: If you buy IHG points with the IHG credit card, do you get points for that purchase. If not, then do you buy them with your Chase Sapphire Reserve to get the 3 points with the Reserve? Hopefully, that wasn’t too confusing!
It's a great question! The purchase actually is done from points . com not IHG so it doesn't code as travel with your credit card. So you can use IHG or CSR but you won't get extra points for doing so. We use whatever card gives the best current deal for the "other" category.
Did you achieve top status at both IHG and Hyatt? Are you still planning to go for top status with Marriott? Has this strategy paid off for you? How much money have you saved in dining out eating in the executive lounges? I’d love to hear more about the pros and cons of going with this strategy.
Money is not meant to control people rather it is meant to be put to work producing more money for you. You cannot build wealth without putting money in its rightful place.
People don't understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments don't match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.
Thank you guys for your video today and the heads up on buying points I just bought the max and I’m slightly excited to think about where I’m going to be using them. I just got my IHG master card the other day I bought the points using the card now I’m close to getting my points for using the card. Of course I’m paying that card off immediately. No Interest on cards Ever!
Love the channel. My wife and I don't miss a video. We are about 2-3 years from realizing our dreams and embarking on a full time travel lifestyle. Our youngest son will start University in just over 3 years and then we will be free to follow our dreams. Keep up the great work. Wondering if as a Canadian we can tap into these credit card points and rewards. We collect points on our Visa card here but typically just use them for our long haul flights. Thanks again! Jeremy and Brooke
I am so excited for you both! My DH and I are 4-5 years before we can be FREE! We have to pay off of house and finish a remodel on our PR house. Then we are selling 98% of our stuff in the US and start our PR homebase for 3 months and out of the US for 9 months! Our own channel is documenting the journey. Good luck❤
So nice of y'all to do a live. Oh, I coud get used to the cleaning for sure! 😊 Would love to go business class - need to check out that Amex. Thank you!
Lived in Tokyo for 12 years. Japanese people do steal umbrellas from the rack in front of convenience stores, but it's an accepted custom. If someone steals your, you just steal someone else's, and so on, until it stops raining. Drunk salarymen will also steal bicycles to get home at night. But, again, everybody knows this and accepts it as part of life. There are more than enough umbrellas and bikes in the country for everyone and more.
Also have been hearing that Chase is trying to implement an application pop-up system (similar to what Amex has, where you get a pop-up if not eligible for the welcome bonus, and they give you the option to continue with the application or not).
Thanks for the heads up on the points boho. I just purchased 250,000 points for a total of 500,000. With the IHG Premier One Rewards 140,000 that will give us 640,000 points. How long do I have to use them?
@@SyncLife828 -just google “purchase IHG points” and click on the IHG site that pops up. I’d make sure the site is encrypted before purchasing. It worked for me, no problems.
Bummer I missed the notification. Congratulations on your camera. 📷 Thanks for sharing so much. I put a reminder in my calendar 📅 for the IHG point sale. Do those points expire? We are 5 years out, beforewe start slow traveling. So was thinking of bulking up on points if they don't expire.
As an Aussie, it is frustrating that we can't get the IHG cc or therefore the bonus. We are wondering if it is still worth trying to buy the points? I guess we can figure it out! Thanks for all the info
NO NO..... Not 100% match!!!!!! It is different per person. It says "Up to 100%". My wife received this offer and when she signed in it was only 60%. She called IHG and they said it is "up to 100%, and not necessarily 100%.
Thanks for the great content. Ten years as a nomad, mainly is SE Asia, and I have learned some things from your channel. Hope to run into you in Bangkok.
Speaking of credit cards - I was checking into the Sheraton in Hiroshima with my corporate Mastercard (employer is a leading Worldwide Fortune 500 company with multiple offices in Japan) and they told me they do not accept Mastercard!! I had to use my personal Visa for the stay. I know Japan is big on Visa, but did not expect them to refuse a Mastercard.
My IHG points purchase was cancelled twice, for seemingly no reason. Plenty of room on the credit card, etc. And now it’s too late for the bonus. Any advice?
I understand going with IHG where you are traveling. In your opinion what do you think is the best loyalty program if traveling in the US. Love your channel
I also love the Philippines! Two questions: Am an IHG member but will buying points allow me to increase my membership status? I charged it on AMEX gold, will AMEX give me points for it?
I signed up for the IHG CC thru your link several months ago, for 165k bonus. Now IHG says I signed up for a 4n bonus, not the 165. What the heck??? do they commonly try to avoid giving out the points?
I bought 250,000 points about a month ago and got 200,000 bonus points 👍🏽 but unsurprisingly I cannot buy another 500,000 points 😀 I did schedule 40 nights at IHG properties this year to get that sweet sweet lounge access
That was the 80% bonus. It's various all the time PER PERSON. My wife received a 100% bonus offer, but in reality was only 60%. She called IHG and they said it is 100% Max and it varies per person and each promotion.
Two questions about the IHG lounge access. 1. When you book for a 40 night stay, do you automatically get the lounge access because you're booked for the 40 nights or however many nights you need to come to the 40 night threshold? 2. If you book with points, can you upgrade to lounge access once you are at the hotel by paying a surcharge? I'm asking these questions because I have nine nights so far, and I'm just thinking about booking a month in Bali to get our lounge access.
Sorry I missed this earlier, you need to actually stay the 40 nights then check out and wait about 48 hours for the nights to post to your account, then you can select lounge access in the app as a perk and at your next check in you'll have it. We do see people paying for lounge access at various hotel, the price will vary by hotel, but you can just ask them and they will let you know.
Do you guys think it’s worth buying the IHG even for use in the US? Planning on a really long road trip and I’ve got a good amount but not enough for the entire trip? Most of the stays will not be 4 nights.
I have an IHG question....do your stays using point count towards getting your status or is it only paid nights that count towards status? Sadly i need to wait before getting the IHG credit card die to rhe Chase 5/24 rule but love the buying points in advance of next year when we begin our long term travel.
One more question - do you suggest I wait it out to get the IHG card before taking advantage of the bonus program? I understand this "sale" may happen again in December and possibly there is a benefit to being the IHG premier card holder at the time of purchase?
What do you do all day, besides the few hours per week spent on the channel? I'm just looking for ideas. Do you just do normal tourist things? Does it get to be, "Another waterfall...museum...ancient building..."? I've long enjoyed a certain level of curiosity, but I feel it starting to wane...
