Great race! I’m running a half at the end of the month and I’m hoping to run somewhere close to 1:30 or below. I’ve had some good workouts working on shorter distance speed but I still need to get in some good longer runs to build that confidence
Really good race, perfectly executed I'd say. My half PB last year was almost identical in terms of splits and a fast finish, definitely the best way to hit your best time. I think your progression is so fast and steep that there's still heaps of improvement to come, starting with that sub 3
Great breakdown of the race; what a performance! This gives me a lot of confidence going into my goal half marathon race this weekend. My target is 1:27, same as yours, but I'm wondering how much potential I have to go below that. You ran a great race. Any regrets about not being more aggressive from the start, or do you think this was the perfect strategy for you?
I think the strategy was right, could I have been more aggressive, yes. Would that mean I wouldn't of been able to run as fast at the end, maybe. It's all about being smart, I didn't train for 10 weeks + to go out there and blow up and miss every goal. Run within your limits and run smart
Great video, super interesting to see such an in depth breakdown of your strategy and thought process behind it! Congratulations on the result, really well deserved! Ps. Who do you support in F1? 😅

Great work mate! I found that about anything between 17-22k should suffice in terms of a 'long run' with some half marathon pace work in the mix
Amazing video and really interesting to have such a thorough breakdown - good luck for the sub 3hr marathon!
Appreciate that! Glad you liked the format
Well done! I have only visited Dunedin a couple of times but the weather has always been awful so I’m glad it turned out okay on the morning.
Yeah I have had similar experiences. Very glad it turned it on

Cheers mate! Very happy with how it all played out

@@maccadewar Thanks for the inspiration. I ran a 1:25:57 at Oxford Half on Sunday and was so happy with how I ran it.
Good stuff Mack, come over to Ballarat Marathon in April? Flat course, cool temp ⚡️
That’s the plan
@@maccadewar sub 3 is on. Can’t wait to say g’day!
