That’s why I’m here lol. Comparing it to a Sea Fury or Skyraider in my head. Part of the P-47s reliability was the air cooled 2800, so the double supercharger could be as bad as the F-51D’s water cooled Achilles heel. That, and the Scoop on the bottom for belly landings would probably flip it over. The wing package allowed for 6xM3 .50s, with only ~270 RPG. I’m not sure if that would allow for the 37mm package to have enough rounds to be an effective CAS plane, more like a strike-fighter. That, and it’s Max Takeoff weight of ~17,500 lbs and a ~14,700lbs fueled weight allowed for almost 3k Lbs of ordnance. It had two hard points for 2x1000lbs, but with that belly scoop it would probably be limited to HVARs, if they wanted more hard points.
If the argument for using F-51Ds as CAS was because they could maneuver better from MIGs, then they ignored the P-47M variant, which, had quite the speed. You’d have to delve more into whether or not the XP-72 would be worth risking a MIG fight where a P-47D and M were ignored. A Sea Fury apparently did it, so who knows.
That plane exhibits quite the acceleration. The rest of your flight seemed to be in the thick of the action more than you were, based on all the hollerin'. 😀
Imagine having a 500mph level flight plane with 4 37mm cannons (ie. 4 P-39s strapped to it) based off the Jug in Korea.

Glad to have you back. I love this aircraft and really. Thanks

Very nose heavy difficult to drop down
Always loved this plane
Nicer than the first one. More...fashioned, modern, smart may be.
Interesting design with the p47 as a starting point. Thanks for posting. 👍
How it does fill compared to the P-47D
P47-25 798 KMH
The Superbolt looks like a chunky P-51 Mustang
I love this one hell yeah
An arrestor hook makes every aircraft better :)
What is the result when P-51 Mustang made P-47 Thunderbolt pregnant.
as a combat review of the curtiss XP 40Q.. please
Maybe a super mustang instead.
