With the different biomes I hope to see different buildings design, gear and passive skills you need to acquire to make it easy to live in those biomes. Like if I live on an island and we run out of room to farm. We can create a few boats to grow the food we need. You can also build a greenhouse to grow food in the cold and in the dead of winter or you could even make a city that is a large greenhouse in the arctic. The passive skills you need would be like cold or fire resistance to live in extreme biomes or have the passive skill sea legs to fight on a ship without sliding all over the place and vomiting from sea sickness. The passive skill should counteract the debuff of the biomes if they give any.
that sounds really cool actually people would be more afraid of pirates on water or elves in the forest etc. but there are actually different building designs, depending on race i think they once said, the buildings will take the style of the race that has the majority in the nodes population
I'm not a fan of seasonal servers reset unless I can get something from them or are special servers like holiday servers that change with the holidays or a server that allows players to play past events or allows players to do that one special quest that was a once in alive time event in the past that won't happen again or allows you get things that you can't get on the normal servers like special blueprints, skills, titles, equipment or materials and must transfer it back to the main server before it reset.
Instead of frequent wipes, they could reward people with some of their store bucks for hitting certain milestones on characters so that everyone wants to start a new one, hit certain points on new systems, clear quests in new content, etc. It's almost like you're paying for testers, but it's only lost *potential* income, instead of actual payments to testers.
If A2/B1/B2 are all dogshit but launch is absolutely perfect and flawless, it's all good. They need to make money when the game launches, before it launches I'd expect Steven to be prepared not to sell too many test keys.
Although I have 250$ alpha 2 pack. I won’t be able to start playing until Jan 2025 anyways, I will be traveling. I will catch up on all content, make sure to post funny bugs as shorts and random screenshots and scenic shorts of Ashes. I will be looking forward to catching up the content from you all and live that beta testers life vicariously through you all. 😊
*First impressions are critical, which is why Steven raised their Quality bar - which usually never gets done this early.* *THE. ENTIRE. GAME. still has many TLC and quality passes coming before launch.* *People need to understand this. All the core systems won't be in-testing until after May 2025.*
@@veil1792 yup. we’re in for a long ride. These phases are just the beginning especially quality wise. That a2 launch won’t even be a fraction of the expected game it’ll be on launch
If your spending that amount of money to play a game, you have to atleast know what you're buying/playing and have a following of the game. Otherwise you must be absurdly bad with money.
Seasonal servers would be fine if there were an underlying system that tracked that Nodes history throughout time. What kind of node it was, it's achievements, etc.
I'd be up for releasing only one continent with no sea. But this has a big problem, do you release the game with half server capacity or do you have half the population nodeless and homeless? And if they release with half server capacity, are they going to increase it later and expect new players to populate it with an expansion release? If they release with full server capacity, would that meant 2x player density on everything? This game's design is so complex that removing a single thing like a map or a system can cause a domino effect.
@@SocialFutility yea this is true 🤔 will the game feel too empty after said expansion? Will the original continent nodes get neglected? How will population be handled? Tough call . Most times that we consider removing something from this big vision it seems to affect another aspect of the game
I'm going to put this hot take out there - Ashes hasn't been in development for 8 years. They all but started over when they went to UE5. So that's what....3 years? Let's say you give x% credit to the first years, that's a total of 6-7 years? The single most ambitious MMORPG in decades SHOULD take longer than any of the other games. If it ends up being a total of a decade like Fantmx mentioned early on, my thought is "So? Why would anyone with any critical thinking skills expect it to take less?" Go ahead and make it make sense why an Indie game being built from scratch...along side creating game changing, next gen server tech...as well as being open dev like we've never seen...go ahead and make it make sense why someone thinks it should take around the same amount of time as other games.
@@emmalidenhartpeople also like to point out that this is intrepids first game as a gaming company so it’s going to take longer because of that. I mean yes it’s intrepids first game but the people making the game have years of experience and knowledge. Realistically shouldn’t take that long.
@@philwaugh9095 yea I’ve said this plenty of times on stream that I feel ue5 was a soft reset to development. As recent as my last stream. That whole map and a1 dungeons are essentially gone. Of course we kept some assets and animations but I digress. Development has and will continue to be long imo. This is the most ambitious mmo we’ve perhaps seen. I feel it’s ok to critique some lack of progress and to have expected more for an a2 launch, but we got to indeed acknowledge what they have done and the large goals they have. 10 years at this point can be expected even with optimism
@@One-12937 how so? Go ahead and give a real world example of an indie game (so completely lacking the support and staffing of a big publisher) that is top tier and how long it took from start to finish. I understand the thought, but let's start seeing real examples.
