This is the best episode of the season, one of my favorites of the entire show. An interesting thing I read is that, Sam said in previous episodes that he needs to be more like Dean to continue when Dean leaves, but in this episode without Dean, Sam became John, good hunter but obsessed with revenge.
Dean did claim that Sam is just like John. Back in season 1.
That demon Dean bringing up that most parts of Dean are from John puts that in perspective

Wrong Sam ASSUMED John did it for revenge but he never bothered to ask John. The revenge crap is pure Sam girl.
Even Sam fans realize there's more to it then that.

#1 - An episode making you feel things, anger, heartbreak, etc. doesn't make it a bad episode. It makes it an incredibly well-written, well acted, and well directed episode. If you don't want to feel any heartbreak or sadness, watch a show where you don't give a damn about the characters.
#2 - Sam was NOT better when Dean died. He was willing to kill a man in cold blood. He was clearly dead inside, that does NOT make him better. It makes him more vicious and ruthless which does NOT equal better.
I have never met anyone who didn't absolutely love this episode. Davion, I almost always agree with you, but you're stone cold wrong here. 🤷♀️🙂
I think he's a little too emotionally attached to a fictional character. And I see this being a very unpleasant reaction channel in the future TBH. I mean season four is a roller coaster and if they can't distance themselves a little and say "Yes, it's sad but it's a tv show." I don't see myself enjoying the reactions of them calling tons of episodes garbage just because sad things happen. Just my feelings.

But I think being attached to the fictional character isn't necessarily the problem. It's realizing that feeling bad for a character or sad during an episode doesn't equal bad writing or a bad episode. I think that happens with a lot of people. If things aren't happy in a story they equate that to it being not good. 🤷♀️ Hope that changes here.
@@ljbimoore Yes, actually I think you're right. They aren't understanding that strong emotions means the show did it's job. I don't know, I was super disappointed with the Mystery Spot reaction as this is my favorite stand alone episode of the show.
@@BatmanFanGirl Right there with you! The reaction was REALLY disappointing. If you don't like an episode that's one thing. (Although as I said I've NEVER met anyone or watched any reactor that didn't absolutely LOVE this incredible episode!) But to not like it for the exact reasons you should LOVE it makes me think they just don't get the show, which makes me stop caring what they think about it. As I said, I'll take a break and try back later to see if they've figured it out. 😏

dean didnt take sam o!outta college...he took him for a cpl of days to search for THEIR dad not only of Dean's...He even dropped Sam off to his place and was leaving when Jess was brutally Murdered..Sam left everything behind to avenge Jess..it was his call...wanna blame Dean for everything? Get your facts right before doing so...it's annoying!

Believe it or not this is one of the most beloved episodes of the entire series by the fandom.
Losing Dean literally turned Sam into John Winchester. Becoming what seems like an obsessive badass does not equal better in my opinion. But Sammy not telling Dean what happened at the end is so heartbreaking💔. I think Jared Padalecki said that he had a very hard time with this episode because it was so emotional for Sam.

After seeing Davion’s reaction to the first time Dean died, I literally yelled “Oh you are NOT going to like this episode!” 😂 The next ep is fire though, I remember absolutely loving it the first time I saw it.
Jared Padalecki said he hated filming this episode cause he had to re imagine Jensen dying over and over.

Cameron, Dean didn't take Sam out of college. Dean asked Sam for his help to find John and when the case that they were working on was over, Dean dropped Sam back off at college. Everything else still would've happened because let's not forget that Sam had a vision of Jessica's death before it happened, so when it did happen, it's likely that Sam would've been like John and started revenge hunting. Now, whether or not Sam would've called up Dean for help, who knows, but Dean's not to blame for that.
Davion, I know how much you love Dean, so do I, but this episode was meant for comic relief. Think about some of the ridiculous ways Dean dies: by a dog, from a taco, even the piano, I think that's what that was, falling on him and looking like something out of The Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch of the East gets flatten by the house, was meant to be funny. Personally, it's one of my favorite episodes and having seen all 15 seasons, I can tell you that Supernatural has a way of blending comedy and tragedy, sometimes it'll be either or, so be prepared.
This is one of those classic cult episodes of the show that everyone loves and quotes obsessively. I can never hear “Heat of the Moment” without thinking of this episode. And Dean is my absolute favorite, but this episode is hilarious.

Love Davion’s reaction in this. A lot of the time this is seen as a comedic ep because of the ways Dean died (and some are!) but Jared Padalecki has often said that this was a really hard episode for him because he had to keep reacting and living seeing his brother die. And I think Davion felt that one! Another great reaction vid. Love it fellas 🖤

I mean, its a sad episode (well, a little bit funny) but many of my fav episode are very depressing too. The moment I watch the way it was directed I knew where this was going, it remembered me one episode of the X-files with this kinda style

Deans my favorite character but this was my favorite episode devion gotta chill out this episode was hilarious
Rewatching now I realize that this is one of the main moments for Sam to break, he spent SIX FUCKING MONTHS living alone just looking for revenge, impossible for him to have come back normal from this and it's pretty obvious at the end of the episode
But it's also one of the most important episodes in terms of the message Trickster wanted to convey, as the Winchesters' codependency and all this story of sacrificing themselves for each other is one of the main causes of the problems they have during the series.

i'm glad that y'all immediately grasped that this is a waking nightmare for sam. it's kinda funny for the audience, but for sam, it's the worst thing he can imagine, and he has to experience it over and over again, and feel powerless over and over again. no wonder he went a little nuts! this episode for sure had lasting consequences on sam's psyche.

This remains one of Supernatural's best episodes and one of the few episodes we got from Sam's perspective. It still holds up. Love that you see how important the brothers have become for each other.

I didn't like this episode very much the first time I watched it, because Dean died so much. It was just too much, because I was already stressing about Dean and his Deal.

Like a lot of fans, i found this episode hilarious, Dean's deaths were sort of "cartoonest". But not anymore.
The thing is, and that's my personnal thought of course, this episode was not hilarious. It was cruel, torture for Sam. No matter what, Dean's gonna die and Sam needs to be prepared. Cruel lesson from the Trickster.

I usually don’t comment on old posts because what’s the point.. but I have to clarify that it’s OBVIOUS that whoever they show in the “previously on” or “then” part of the show at the beginning, will be in the episode about to be shown! So it’s hilarious to me for someone to see one of the show’s characters in the first part of the show and then go, “I called it! I knew that person would be in this episode!” when they see them in the episode! Like, no sh*t Sherlock! 😂😂😂 You guys are so silly and I’m enjoying watching you all enjoy my favorite show! 😜🙌🏼☺️

This episode was SO STRESSFUL. I can’t. Though, it had become one of my favourites in the entire franchise. It’s funny yet tragic and just so interesting to watch.
This episode is a fan fav. If you can't take the heart ache, this is the wrong show for you. lmao And you know, you guys would get through the seasons faster if you didn't spend 25 minutes an episode giving each other shit. lol
Cameron please keep up the Sammy love there can never be too much of it! It'll also make things really interesting whenever there's an opposing view between Sam and Dean bc we'll have reactors on both sides of the argument.
