I learned from farmers that unless you intend to plant crops in the entire area, it would be ok to clear just the areas surrounding every coconut, cacao, coffee and other fruit trees. Also, it is important that trees that are good lumber material ( narra, mahogany, acadia) are preserved and allowed to grow bigger. If you have tibig trees near the waterways, don't cut them as these conserve water, and even help keep streams abundant with water.

what a great improvement! it’s much clearer and you can see the spacious space. It’s okay you can’t save all trees but you can start planting again. But it looks so spacious now- you guys should have a photo before and after. Soon you guys can start building a new village out there -- like the Russian village at Samal island. You guys should also connect with Filipinez - Russian family - his mom is so sweet like Boris mom.
Take a break now and then - you guys did a great job, you both are very hard working! Ang lawak na tignan ! 👍

I think it's good that you do the burning in your property. It is good to eradicate those weeds. Here in Australia, every year(before summer), we have a controlled burning, especially in the hills area. We are obliged to clean the surroundings within 20 metres from the property to avoid the bush fire. Overall, burning is good for the soil! New seeds/plants will grow.

I'm a licence agriculturist. Burning is what most locals do during land clearing. Though in good agricultural practices (GAP) it isn't allowed. But burning also has benefits, 1. It is the Cheapest and fastest way in land clearing. It may not be ecologically healthy however it has also soil benefits as to sanitation, kills soil fungus and bacterial. The coil would hasten decomposition. It also scares predators/harmful animals away.
Herbicide is also expensive. The systemic herbicide would prevent growth until six months however it has harsh effect on the soil. The chemicals can lead to soil acidifying effect and kills soil microbial activity.

Well your idea is a very good for later when you work at your land as you making compost from ashes..as the woods has been burned to keep it safe for your trees and plants. You can keep it a small fire using the one you make. This fire you make it in the first time after they cutting the bushes is good to burn the hiding place of the snakes. My advice is don’t putting your hands so quick in bushes using a stick 🦯 avoiding unnecessary injury or some insects or snakes can hide in the leaves or bushes always bring 🦯 in your hand (stick ) as you walking around your land using boots 🥾 and gloves 🧤 too.😊

Advice: What you have just asked from workers is the 1st stage of "Kaingin" which is cutting grasses, ferns, trees, etc., the 2nd stage is burning them when dried but before burning, you need to clear the edges of your farm, about 1.5 meters with all the dried leaves and trunks and branches of trees by putting them near middle of your farm using rake, you need to do it so fire won't get out of your area; and 3rd stage which is the last phase in the "Kaingin System", is to clear the whole area or lot of unburned big roots and base of trees, you ask a knowledgeable person to do it ...when everything is done, your area is ready for use, either for planting or construction of a house ...

Try to watch @anthonyjaballa how he start thier family farm, now they are starting small camp site besides thier fishpond. He continues and improved what his parents started. They grow egg plant, tomatoes, green chilies, string beans and other vegetables. And try to plants bearing fruits like lanzones, rambutan, mangosteen, calamansi. Watch his vlogg so you had idea
And pls don't use grass cutter blade for small woods, remember that is for GRASS. make garden beds for the veggies first and put chicken manure so after a month you can start to grow.

Invite your neighbors to bring their cows and goats to work on the vegetation. You get free fertilizer. You can also use weed spray like Round-Up or equivalent. You can purchase them in most agricultural stores. You can ;ater plant Casavva / Kamoteng Kahoy. The inhibit growth of other weeds and soften the soil as well.

Just plant fruit bearing plants such as mangos specially carabao mango, bananas, papaya mangosteen, rambutan, lansones and durian, you also plant there calamansi and dwarf coconuts. Then, it is also good to plant vegetables. Pechay, string beans, eggplant, ampalaya, patola etc.

Oh NO, Dont cut the Narra. It's the most desirable type of wood and it's being protected right now. Narra is the hardest wood in the Philippines. It's our national tree. It's good for making furnitures. Our ancestral house in the provice is made of narra way before my dad was born. Even if my dad is already gone, the house is still standing strong. Your lot is looking nice already! Can't wait to see the projects you guys are going to do.

It can be done with a "controlled" fire. The land will also benefit from having the ashes as nitrogen for all the plants later. I believe that your workers know how to do the controlled fire.... in sections.

Now that you removed all the wild bushes. All you need to do now is use herbicide. Spray the grass and bushes that you like to kill. Just avoid spraying your vegies and fruit trees because they will die too. Everytime there is sprouting grass you can spray to stop them to grow. You can do it every 2- 3 months. Goodluck😊

Watch for other people who have big farms they make it as natural as it was.

Don't waste those woods. Save them for firewood. You can stock them beside your house.
