    Thank you, good review. But 2 things, first it seems to be unusable outside under the sun (LED are not visible), and second, you don't say when it will be available. I'm leaving for a 3-month trip to the North Cape at the end of June and I have no idea whether I'll be able to receive it in France before I leave. Chessnut didn't answer my question about the availability date.

    As a Chessnut Go buyer, I have a unit that has a flickering light that shows up during gameplay. The company has not offered me an opportunity to exchange the unit after I sent multiple videos showing the issue and following their troubleshooting steps. As a matter of fact they closed my email stream, stating that they will no longer respond to my messages. I think potential customers should be aware that the company is not honoring their warranty policy.

    Battle of the e boards continues. Would love to see this at a low price point compared to the air as like the compact features. With the completion out there this board could grab some of the market for sure due to portability alone. The operation seems seamless. Thanks

    So , ...I finally did hear back from Chessnut. I actually resolved a rather strange issue with the Chessnut Go, so I thought I would make a follow up remark. The Go , when connecting to the Arena Gui will sometime show an erratic LED on the first move of the game when playing /testing using engine vs engine (match). What I found was that if I connect using a USB connection, I get an inaccurate LED indicator on the first move for white. However, if I connect using Bluetooth , all works well. I only notice this issue when using the ARENA GUI. Maybe this may help some other users. I forwarded my findings to Chessnut as well, which they appreciated.

      But you still can't under promote unless you've already lost a piece of the same kind, because the only spare pieces provided are queens.

    Would you buy this board if you had the Air? I do realize that the benefit with the GO is the size. But is it worth it if you already have the Air?

    Is the Lithium battery user replaceable? I found that almost all Lithium batteries are more likely to die! The batteries in my AirPod, DGT Bluetooth e-board, etc., are all replaced at least once!

      Yes! After 2 bad decades for electronic chess, we now see a lot of new offering, incredibly exciting!

      Chessup 2 has the advantage of not requiring a phone. But this seems more portable. Both look very good!
      Personally I’d want a bigger board but the Chessnut Pro is so expensive…

    Great reriew. Only if Chessnut had made the white pieces a bit more yellowish (imitating wood), it would make the chess set more confortable to use, once the pieces must be seen in contrast with the color of the squares.

    Chessnut can play tournaments and puzzles on Lichess? And probably also puzzles? Is it also possible two lichess player play on it? Means pysical in the same room at the same board?

    Imagine if the 80s and 90s dedicated chess computer designs from Novag and Saitek were around now, they would insert a USB in there and also double-up the board to be an e-board too and allow saving data to a PC.

    Good video, although you didn't say how hard the case is. Would it withstand a serious knock? A very relevant issue. It would be nice to know how the LED lights work in bright sunlight. Some testers have said they aren't visible at all. You did a good job, but missed a couple of key points.

    Chessnut really looks to be innovating while DGT just lazying around.
    This thing looks like it can be suitable for both an analysis board and online play, I like it, and I like that it comes with the carrying case instead of making it a separate purchase.

    good review. however main point is missing here :) you are sitting outside already - how are the LEDs ? I cant imagine that those LEDs are visiblle outside. Other than that i can imagine using this kind of board like "on the move" at home - can take it in any room i want :)

    Can you play the Chessnut GO out of the box or as with EVO do they just supply you with a cable with A USB-C plug at either end but no adaptor or plug with it so that is like me giving you a car without a battery in it not much go in it is there, prettyuseless really.

    • @graham_nz
      @graham_nz 3 місяці тому +4

      Not really, it's more like giving you a car with only a third of a tank of fuel in it. Putting fully charged lithium batteries into the shipping/delivery industry is a really bad idea, and a quick Google search comes up with "According to the IATA, the state of charge (SoC) must not exceed 30%, and it's the shipper's responsibility to ensure compliance with this regulation." And just suppose they did send you a plug - which of the global plug standards should they use? And how much more would it cost to provide a truly global adapter? How many people really have no way to charge a device through USB and want yet another charger? I've just had a quick count and found I have at least 9 USB chargers already.

    • @SanderSmit77
      @SanderSmit77 3 місяці тому +1

      In the EU at least supplying an adapter is not allowed by law. It is required to be USB-PD through USB-C, so all your normal chargers should work. It is pretty good actually, remember how you used to have a specific charger for each device? It created a lot of confusion and waist.

    Hi, I really hope you see this. I am going to leave a longer comment on your most recent review of chess pieces as I am not really into electronic portables; the internet is everywhere.
    The cuts on the roooooook are slits or slots. Think of war before gunpowder. You want your archers to be able to shoot at the enemy with minimal risk.
    The stone between the cuts are called crenellation, singular, crenellations plural, and the design word is crenellated.
    Please go to your latest piece review for the rest of my comments ... Thanks, Ted

    Such a long winded review… anyway , with the board being magnetic, I find that the pieces not auto centering in the squares to be a huge miss
