Microprose recently reacquired the rights to Falcon 4.0, so keep on the lookout for that! They've got a discord with all the projects they are associated with.
My jaw dropped when I saw the news on that. Falcon BMS, a community mod for Falcon 4.0, has been continuously developed for years now. The original flacon 4.0 came out in 1998 so this game has been going for 25 years now. Bought Falcon 4.0 a year ago and I am still learning the controlls getting into Falcon BMS. Seeing this news was amazing.
Which by the way they are dropping things like B-17 2 on EA, is they are just out to be cash cows. Don’t trust them one bit. I’ve been in this game 33 years. The day a company like Microprose starts doing EA alarm bells just go off, why do people think this is normal?is that because they were kids when Falcon 4 was out? I think so. The very fact that Wayward Design released a better version than they have already, is pathetic. They sound amateur. May be Microprose by name, but certainly not in size or experience.
This game reminded me Jetfighter II: Advanced Tactical Fighter, one of the best flight sims I played back in the day. I both this game from Steam about a year ago, but no many changes has been made to the game since is still on "Beta" and has been that way for several years now. I do thing this game has the multiplayer in mind. I just wish they would rush the development of this title, it's got a real potential.
I played the daylights out of F-117A Nighthawak 2.0 and M1 Tank Platoon, when I was a kid. I still occasionally play Nighthawk. Microprose is the shit when it comes to simulators (save for DCS obviously). I'm slowly learning Falcon BMS right now. I'm watching this title closely
I play once in a while with a mouse and key, it’s set up like warthunder so you have to be used to constantly moving the mouse around for maneuvers. It’s more fun with a full hotas and trackir setup. I grew up playing a-10 attack and I love these pre-3dfx polygon graphics. I always wished that aesthetic had continued. This game hits a ton of those notes (seeing the random pop-up sprite trees next to the runway the first time I took off was a magical nostalgia moment), all it’s missing is terrain maps instead of the flat one in game. Hoping it keeps going and opens up to modding, right now it plays a little more like a dota game though it’s fun enough to me to play through everytime. Just really want that a-10 feel, that game back then was pretty complex and it would be great to see how many moving parts in a battle could be supported with modern hardware, without having to worry about the framerate. If they open it up to multiplayer you might even see it really take off as the simpler approach makes it way more accessible to players who just want more of an abstract sporting type of gameplay as opposed to full immersion flight sim. Jason Williams from il2 is now heading to Microprose so it will be interesting to see where the company goes!
is it the virtual sim joystick controls in WarThunder or is it the arcade/realistic controls? I have a cheap HOTAS stick so I tend to play with the stick in my primary hand and the mouse for "look" in my off hand anyway, but sometimes WT's "realistic" control scheme is fun to use.
Low-poly objects with flat or Gouraud shading, that wasn't the first gen of flight sims, ooh no. No, no.... That wasn't, sir. You're talking about the early nineties here. :-D
it dosent seem like a game that will be popular but that will be appreciated by a certain few as a "younger gamer" as he puts it it looks fun but I wasn't conciouse when those types of games where popular
Modding this game is really good fun especially trying to push your limits of what you can and cant do regarding the limited amount of resources you have to work with
I can notice that you have been playing a pretty old version of the game. Currently the vehicles travel along roads, avoid obstacles and there is much more potent ground defenses (SHILKas, SAMs and FLAKs) which make any kind of bombing runs much more demanding, especially if you want to make a run for the enemy airport :) Also there is a way to play using other planes (though the cockpits are not yet fully modeled) - using a cheat code available in the patch notes.
as a younger gamer(17) i feel that the game is very fun but of course lacks substance as it is a beta i do think that its a good basis for a middle of the road realism flight sim
It Might be worth noting that this game received a major update to the HUD and some other features today. Therefore it is visually a lot different now, and adds HUD for 3rd person camera, making it playable and equipped with all the info which used to be missing.
Microprose name was bought by David Lagettie that some of you may know as a founder of Bohemia Interactive Australia and responsible for VBS "games" that US/Canadian/Australian/etc armies use to train their soldiers, which are based on ArmA series. Where he was one of the music composers.

To be specific (or more broad?) they reaquired the Falcon series as a whole.

This game immediately reminded me of Ace Combat 2's interface and Eagle One Harrier Attack's gameplay.
It looks magnificent! Less is more.
oh man, Chuck Yeager's Air Combat.
now there's a game i haven't heard in a long time.
A classic, for sure.
I believe its a one man dev team. I chat to him a bit on Twitter.

Its a neat little game, reminds me of old flight sims
A-10 Cuba vibes
Would be nice in we had something like M1TP2.
This looks like A-10 Attack which I have very fond memories of.

Reminds me of ysflight
Reminds me of "Formula one grand prix" 30 years ago 🙂. This game was great
I think he should go back to TCA and give it a look again, considering it got mod support!
if i want dynamic campaign, is it too much to ask? :[
Something tells me that this developer likes touhou UFO

As a zoomer it looks cool though clunky controls might be a turn off

I play it with keyboard and mouse and it works well
Chase cam NOW HAS HUD WOOOOOOO! I make infinite ammo.

I wonder how is it looking now - have you tried it again recently?

Why the Dev not release the game on android or ios?
