For real. It's such a rare thing in modern music. It's a throwback to the 80s in a big way. You just do not get "pop" bands who have a cool presentation at this size and scale. Look across all the festivals and you just will not find an equivalent band or artist. It's super cool. Are they breaking new ground? No, they're unashamedly pop heads who clearly were raised on emo, 80s pop, and whatever else millennials grew up listening to. And that's why they're great.
everytime I see that they’re performing somewhere i just think “gosh they must be exhausted”. i saw them in January and that feels like lifetimes ago. i can’t imagine touring for that long, same songs, non stop. I hope they get a break soon
The summer festival circuit does seem to be gruelling - it must feel like Groundhog Day at times. Or perhaps not, if you’re doing something you feel passionate about. And yet, and yet …
And they’re coming back to the US this fall, I saw them at MSG last November and I’m seeing them again this November at MSG. I really don’t know how they do it
I often have the same thought but what a treat to be able to follow the tour all year long. Also... they are at the height of their powers and these are legacy performances that people will be watching 50 years from now. There are worse jobs.
Love this band. They are his soul. He seems very sad about love and is working his sorrow thru this set. The way he expresses himself and his feelings thru music hits my soul.
His vocals are amazing honestly especially here. I saw them live for the first time at age 17 in 2014 and 6 times total. God I haven’t seen them since 2019 , I will make it to their next show. They’ve soundtracked my life
I feel like this song has a few similarities to Biggest Part of Me by Ambrosia (1980). When I say that I mean some of the chord progressions and general style. Love it.
I really love this band. Ever since I first heard Girls years ago... they've gone from a quirky alt indie band to a purely brilliant musical act with some absolutely brilliant songs
3:20 - the build to the funky guitar. i was meant to be in the pit in 2020 for tour, but we all know how that went. beyond grateful to have FINALLY secured tickets to this upcoming tour with the release of the additional dates - losing my mind over sharing another evening with these guys, especially in this era. cheers ;
@llayne1956 No, The 1975 never do encores, they just play long shows to begin with. They are AMAZING live, have a fantastic time at the Nov show, you are really in for a wonderful experience 😊
Will someone in the British hell tell me what balaclava is and why it chafes? For ten years I’ve love this amazing band and for ten years I don’t know what that word means
In “Robbers,” the subjects of the song are wearing balaclavas, or ski masks. Matty is saying that she doesn’t like the feel of the mask on her face and it’s “starting to chafe.”
Im Indonesian actually, but according to me it means her real character is starting to show, its like the girl try to hide her bad characters but its starting to show clearly now, when she gets his guns (when she knew his weakness, he also know her bad characters, but still in love each other, so its like toxic relationship) "Maybe, idk". Seriously idk..
@@MFalowohonestly I don’t think Sex would’ve fit anywhere on this setlist. Unless it was used as an opener but even then I don’t think it would’ve fit well.
Man these guys are a true pop band. With real instruments and chord progressions and hooks. And they’re huge. I love everything about that.
aLL DAY!!!

Yeah, they don't get a break until December.

One of the greatest 80's vibe band i have noticed..each live stage of each songs are completly unqiue and always ecer changing in style and tone.

I wouldnt describe it better than You did. He can hit my soul so hard. Im glad that someone recognized their spirit:)
Couldn’t agree more!
WOW. Matty sounds great here...maybe the best he ever has live. Hope he keeps this going

the best sounding 1975 live performance i’ve ever seen
His vocals in Robbers are so good.
Wow, they really switched up the setlist for this one.
lol
I couldn’t be more in love is an interesting opener. I love it
I agree it really eases you into this splendid and divine set list and I love how much the Swedes are into the show 🩵

Absolutely wonderful!!
I was there and cried so much I miss it to bits
Wow. This is the first time I've seen them open with I Couldn't Be More In Love.
This is one of the best-sounding live recordings of them in 2023. Phenomenal. Thank you for sharing!!
Agreed
Seen them in January and just got tickets to see them February at the O2 London. 9th time seeing them ❤

They opened with I Couldn't be more in love?? This short setlist is very good
His vocals!
starting with I couldn't be more inlove was the best thing!
It’s hard to watch someone hurting. Such a fragile existence. The music is just beautiful. Thank you all ❤
You don't get it.

I see why
Why?
He’s amazing but he’s so tired :(
Or maybe drunk
Excellent sound!! Great vocals!! I hope the drinking is just part of the act.
Best live performance I've EVER seen other than Pink Floyd and Celine. If you have a chance to see them, do it!!!!
The 1975 ❤ los amo

i love how mattys dad is just hanging out in the corner, just supervising the gig and stuff

Thank you for the video, this setlist felt very intimacy and especial >
What a voice! …-smokin
Matty, I know it's you behind this channel. I know!!! ❤️😘
When a musician on center stage plays a beat up instrument like the saxophone you just know it was crafted to last and exsists for a reason.
Loved seeing his dad at the side of stage
58:42 that scream tho
the "fuck off" at 39:47 is a vibe
i don't see a lot of phones!!! what a world to live in!!!

Thank you very much! ❤
Do they ever come back for an encore??? Going to see them in Nov this year. Was just wandering. So far I have not seen them do this at all.
@llayne1956 No, The 1975 never do encores, they just play long shows to begin with. They are AMAZING live, have a fantastic time at the Nov show, you are really in for a wonderful experience 😊
This is a very short version of their gig, dont worry, the setlists are PACKED 🫶
Who is Marcy that matty was talking about before Robbers?
He bettah not die on me if i ever get to see them!

Balaclava isn't even British
She's wearing a full-face mask to disguise her identity - like a ski mask - during the robbery. It's probably wool or polyester so it's itchy.
Yummy. I love J Pinot noir. I Iove you too, mate
that's me headbanging to i always wanna die LOL
💗 💗 💗
Dropping Chocolate, Sex, Tootime, The Sound is the best thing they could have done, this setlist is FIRE and for true fans 🔥
True fans?! They could've kept Sex 😭😂
@@MFalowohonestly I don’t think Sex would’ve fit anywhere on this setlist. Unless it was used as an opener but even then I don’t think it would’ve fit well.
thank you so much!!
can we have mumford and sons part too please?
Otrolig spelning!
Ele entregou muito vocal aqui, mas o público foi muito fraco.
he said immigrant bring a lot of economy more than what?

Sweden?! Gotta be the hottest crowd ever
41:12 Mr. Tim Healy
4:14 is that Matty's Dad???
no lol, it's Jamie Squire!
@leidyyy6159 i mean 41:14
Yes it's wor Tim ❤
❤❤❤🎉
LOL I‘m in the Video 😂
I’m surprised they started with this song. Do you think there’s any specific meaning behind it?
it's a song he wrote for the fans back in 2017 before he went to rehab. he was afraid of losing his fans so he wrote them a love song for them.
I❤God(Anthony
So the reparations comment was totally about Taylor right?

That’s his voice. No auto tune.
