For some of us Akai users which are dealing with low velocity keyboards this has been so helpful! Now making electronic music is a breeze ! Thanks for posting this!
I just bought a LPK25 ... not a musician (I can play a terible version of Ode to Joy but that's about it) but mostly for playing foley ion time with video and I was suprised by the low velocity on this thing.
I literally just searched google for how to control midi velocity of your controller in Reaper and guess who's video came up... am starting to think Kenny is from the future where humans have evolved to become musical engineer genius' and he has come back in time to help us learn to create music because music is the universal language and when the aliens come we need to know how to communicate with them so we don't mess up like what happened in the year 2047. Reaper 6 The Musical... in theatres this winter.
The Native Instruments A61 velocity is really low, at least how I play. This trick makes that controller usable for me. I multiply by 1.3 and it feels right. Thanks Kenny.
Whoa. Multiple instances of Velocity Control on one track, controlling different elements of the drumkit? Mind blown. lol I just came to see tips on piano velocity control. Thanks so much for this Kenny, I didn't see this game-changer for drum programming coming.
Jesus, i've been struggeling to find something to change velocity for SForzando for ages. Been using reaper for a few days now, so i just gave youtube a try for THAT one. I never tried searching in the Plugin section. This makes playing so much easier, as i have set my piano to softer velocity, but couldnt get this done here. Thanks!
My MIDI keyboard is starting to go bad. One of my keys always plays at maximum velocity. I used the information in this video effectively to fix a hardware issue. Also note, if you have a dodgy pitch or modwheel then there are other JS plugins that can help to combat that. It doesn't fix the problem. It's more of a band aid until you can get your keyboard repaired or replaced.
velocity really changes the sound alot when you adjust it...so i dunno...if i would fool around with that much..i thought it just modified the volume but it does much more
This isn’t working for me. Maybe it’s the midi controller? I had great sensitivity on it then it suddenly became all high velocity. I also cannot fade in or fade out my midi tracks. Please help !
Kenny! Love your videos man. Question! Everytime I write in midi, whether recording or programming, the default velocity in reaper is always set to 127 when I enter notes. I know I can adjust one note, and then select that note when entering new notes so that they always match the previous note velocity, but I was wondering; Is there a way to PERMANENTLY set default input velocity for midi events in reaper to a specific number? I try to never go over 100, (not 127), and then scale accordingly from there, but I want 100 to be my max. I cannot find this option in reaper, and have never been able to find this setting in the many years I've used reaper, nor have I ever found answers online, just workarounds. Is this an option in reaper or do I just have to use this plug-in you are using or select the previous note and adjust etc, is this an option anywhere?
When I record the midi track, it doesn't keep the velocity that's been set on the JS MIDI Velocity Control. Some kind of non destructive recording to the MIDI notes. Is there any way to set it so the notes recorded keep the velocity as it was played through the JS Velocity Control? Thank you!
Hi Kenny, how do you get the velocity levels to appear with circular handles? Mine are just bars which gets confusing when dealing with multiple concurrent events.
I pressed a button an lost my control volumes, does anyone know how to populate the inline track volumes at the bottom ? I know its something simple im missing. THX

This works excellently for midi drums. Saves me a ton of time not having to adjust after every recording.

This was a wild ride 😂

I have yet to watch a Kenny Gioia video and NOT find something I could use. The last few minutes of the video did it for me.
Thanks a lot, Kenny. This is an extremely helpful plugin. My keyboard is just too sensitive and pretty much useless without this plugin.

Reaper is insanely good, so so worth learning. Think that's why Kenny is so passionate about teaching it. \m/
Excellent, Thank you Kenny. Very useful for live performance with patterns from the keyboard, and control Dynamic of each part of the drums

This plugin not working, i try this with ezdrummer 2 and the plugin dosent affect the velocity of my performence
As always, very informative video. Can't thank you enough for these!
Reaper is awesome I love it. Thank you for doing great tutorials
Great idea about compressing just the kick. Never thought about that.

Just what I needed! Thank you so much.
My MIDI keyboard is way too soft, this helped to make it more sensible.
Really helpful.
So useful. 👍
I LOVE U I LOVE U I LOVE U

My virtual Keyboard doen't look that nice. What do you use?
What if i want to draw a velocity curve?
Omg very useful info
Somehow this is just changing the parameter "off velocity" and not "velocity" on midi. Any idea why?
this would've been so useful when I was programming drums *sigh*
espetacular Reaper...

Where i can find this JS Script? can't find it :(
how do you display velocity when you record ?
Great. But what about changing pre-recorded tracks, as opposed to live playing?
Put the FX in the normal FX chain, before the Virtual Instrument
@@paulatsydney yup... thanks..
Kenny!

how do you get the midi input velocity on split screen?
i try to this after recording but the plugin is not affecting at the velocity

I'm guessing he's using one of the development builds. That's a new feature being worked on/refined.
Yes! That's great! If is it a new feature I can't wait for!
Select a midi item and press E on your computer keyboard.
GRACIAAAAAS
my reaper velocity is not working... please help
can I also adjust my knob's sensitivity in reaper?
how do you set up the keyboard like that?
I pressed a button an lost my control volumes, does anyone know how to populate the inline track volumes at the bottom ?
I know its something simple im missing. THX
what kind of layouts are using?
