Has this already written on their apparel ? 😆
i love how Brett enthusiastically pointed at Eddy's NASA shirt when they went 'science!!!!!' when he was wearing a shirt with the elements of the periodic table on it himself

Hi again good friend
Is horseradish an instrument?

@@jeffskarma Maybe a mooli, but I think a horseradish would result in the hospitalisation of the player from mouth injury.
Regarding the Marble Machine, the guy who made it is a Swedish musician named Martin Molin. His band is Wintergatan and you can find his channel by that name. He's been making a new marble machine that's an engineering masterpiece for the past two-plus years (it has like 10,000 individual parts--not exaggerating). He's actually a phenomenal musician and can play a few dozen different instruments (including a few he's made himself besides the marble machine). His channel is very worth watching; he uploads nearly every Wednesday showing the process of building his new marble machine which he hopes to finish very soon and start touring internationally with it next year.
As for different songs, there's a programming wheel. It works similarly to a music box where there are programming pins he can put in to make different songs. The originally had to be done manually for each song, but the new one has detachable wheel pieces that can be easily removed and replaced so they can play different songs already set up with pins in the wheel pieces. Check out his channel guys. He's a bloody genius (a literal one, not a figurative one).

He is absolutely great, I also love Wintergatan. Found them on UA-cam about 2 years ago and loved it from the first moment.
So glad you took the time to comment this... Excellent explanation btw. I predict MMX will be done this year!
When I first saw Martin, it was the original Marble Machine vid as seen above. A real life Dr. Suse character and real life Dr. Suse Whatsa-whos-it Machine. Star Machine and All Was Well are my favorite. Also, I love on Wednesdays Martin would put something ugly AF on the MMX and a week later, 'We are changing the design." The MMX is so beautifull and I think the rythem machine and time clutch are my favorite elements of the MMX.
Wow that sounds so cool!
Twoset : We try to see the weirdest instrument in the world

I got a little too excited when Martin and his marble machine came up... Love Wintergatan and Martin in particular. He's a musical and mechanical genius and what he's cooking up now will blow what you saw out of the water. Plus it'll be easily changeable so they can bring it on stage during their world tour and play a number of songs with it. I can't wait! The prototype shown here was actually put up in a museum for a while.

It’s very cool, really recommend you check it out.

Ok we used to take grass from the playgrounds in our school, and cut a small slice in the middle, cup it between our hands and blow it. Made pretty much the same noise as the leaf lol
I've seen historical examples of leaf playing in several cultures, it's actually beautiful to me. Not so much the sound as much as the simplicity that impresses me. I imagine the leaf was the first instrument that used mans breath... Ancient.

9:20 Wintergatan explains the whole machine and how each part works on videos in his channel. He changes the tone simply by putting the peg-like protrusions on the rotating drum in different places :D
The leaf music is real. I can play some pretty good songs on the leaf. Position and space for air to through is key, but it really matters which leaf you use.

Also Check out the MMX, the guy who built the marble machine is building an even better one ! And you can actually reprogram it, it's not just "one song".

4:41 if it sounds the same that instrument would be more convenient to mic up than a conventional cello. I also love the steampunk vibe.
My Hmong grandpa used to play a leaf when my family and I went to his house.
Leaf musician here!!!
For those who plays woodwind, it's basically equivalent to just playing the head of your instrument.
The leaf is like the reed, and by blowing it in different direction(creates different air flows)gives it different sounds. For selection of leaf.....well it doesn't matter really. Any leaf, as long as they are not too soft is playable, or it will breaks under pressure of stream of air coming out of mouth. My father taught me how to do it with willow's leave so thats the one I know...
Rachmaninov should be feeling so honoured to have Vocalise performed on a dead badger

Oooo now I understand how Wei Wuxian managed to play on a leaf! (but it still sounded like a dizi flute... so it would have been great of they got an actual leaf musician to play the Wuji song).

Hey guys the Marble machine 2 (X) is close to being completed so make sure you watch it when it’s done!
What instrument do you play.
Arsonist: The flame organ naturally. Just can't do without it.
Last time I was this early, I didn't know leaf blowers existed...
So... yesterday ._.
Wut?
Reminds me of a Pokemon movie I watched. When this girl started blowing into a leaf and it sounded like a violin.
Music at 5:09 reminds me of Hannibal, and the badger theremin reminded me of this one episode where they turned a man into a cello. It was a ride
I like the "Theremin" (without the badger) most of all, from the 1920s' it started with a thermionic valve and can now be made with transistors. Radio frequencies beating together to produce audio, controlled with the capacitance to the player. Tends to create RF interference but who cares when it can make such a great eerie sound.
The guy with the marble machine is Wintergatan and you should check out his channel and maybe review it in another episode, because he is a cool guy that makes cool stuff and works really hard
7:37 When you're bored in the lab.
Having looked at the marble machine, you guys should definitely look into his Marble machine X series, and if you want to see another interesting instrument, I recommend his Modulin video with his home-made music box accompaniment
