I love how efficient, productive, and positive you are in these vlogs! You make me want to be a second grade teacher…or maybe just your aide😂. I learn and get so inspired from all you do- you rock!!
Wow. 🥹🥹 Thank you so much!! I would LOVE to have an aide!! Bring it on! 🤣 I keep hoping one of these years I will get to have a student teacher at least, I think it would be so fun!
Once again, an awesome video! I just love the whole idea of the school dens!! I would like to try this in my school to bring on the school spirit! We definitely need some! Are they called dens because your school mascot is a bear or something? I was thinking we could pair up with our assigned partner classes. :) Also, do you have anyplace where you talk about your whole day and how you fit everything in? We don't have a reading curriculum, which is frustrating. It would really make planning small groups and whole group easier, as well as so many other things. Any tips? LOL
I didn’t know you taught third also!! I teach 6th grade and use Wonder in Spanish but I don’t get to do that much!! Our weeks are 6 days long at the most!! I love the one sheet you have with the unit and the things you are doing for that week, is it your template or Wonders, never seen it in my program?
We have definitely had to scale back because we feel the same way! Wonders gives SO much! I got them on TPT - love them! Here is the link to all of her 6th grade Wonders stuff: bit.ly/3ZbYVs8
You are so organized! My goal is to stay organized and on top of things but I also feel like all my days conference time and after school have been taken with meetings. How many days do you plan with your team?
It definitely feels like that for us a lot too, especially at the beginning of the year! We meet once a week after school for PLC (focused more around curriculum, common assessments, etc.), then we have a grade level meeting (housekeeping stuff, review plans for following week, field trip discussions, etc.) during planning once a week.
Thank you! Ours is an older edition. With only 5 days to complete the material, and also fit in 95% Core Phonics, I feel like we can never dive deeply into the material and accomplish everything needed. Do you utilize the online component of Wonders?@@abubblyclassroom
Not my first year - I have taught both most years I have been teaching actually! When I meet with reading groups, the rest of my students always have a list of things to do, then choices for when they are done. I keep that displayed on a PPT slide so they can always refer back to it. Typically a mix of things depending on where we are in the unit: vocabulary practice in their wonders workbook for our current vocabulary, I assign them work on McGraw Hill from our current unit, I assign lessons on iReady Reading, they may have to partner read our anchor text with someone in their group, independent reading, etc.
@@abubblyclassroom you make it seem to easy. I know it’s hard to teach 2 grade levels and different standards. Love your channel. It offers so much inspiration and motivation. During difficult times it just gives me something to look forward too. I appreciate your feedback and would like to incorporate some of your ideas. I used to have wonders. Now we have Benchmark Advance. I am not a fan of this new series. We’ll have a great school year. Enjoyed the chat! 🤗
LOL! I do most years actually! I never really talk about it because I figured there were VERY few who would relate or care to know how it works. Surprisingly quite a few people have mentioned they do the same so I thought I would start to share a little more about how we make it work! My county allows students to progress a year ahead when they show mastery of grade level content in math/reading. So instead of having them walk up to the next grade, sometimes a teacher just teaches both. I usually volunteer to do it since I’m used to it!

My RA (resident assistant) for my college dorm was from South Africa! It looks so beautiful there! 😍

Where did you get the papers you put on your clipboards with the little readers that come with wonders? Is that something you typed up ?
I did! They are free on my blog here: bit.ly/45F7ddV
I would love to see what you do for science and social studies.
I can show more of that! 🤗
What edition of Wonders do you use? I teach 3rd grade and our edition is set up for 5 days. It's way too much to accomplish in one week.
I think we have 2020? Both our 2nd and 3rd are 10 day text sets!

I’ve missed something. Why are you teaching second and third grade reading?

Can you please talk a lot louder I have my volume up and still can’t hear you
Sorry! I am typically the first one in the building, so it feels weird to talk any louder. 🤣
