This is the first golf broadcast I ever watched because it was raining out and nothing else was on. I was 9 years old and it made me a golfer for life despite the fact nobody in my family golfed.
This was around the time i took up the game of golf, now im 46, Nicklaus was- is the best example of how to keep calm and get the job done, and his record in the majors will hopefully never be bettered. I saw him on the practice ground of the 1996 British open, and he was just phenomenal, he even interacted with a gallery member, and got him on range to try and out drive him
There will never be another Sunday at Augusta like this one ever again. So many amazing golfers, battling it out on the back 9. I feel bad for Kite and Norman, even tho im glad Jack won it, i wouldve like to seen Kite or Norman win the green jacket. Played their hearts out.
11:00 time frame. Oh how times have changed. Announcer talking about “foreigners” playing on PGA Tour. Player “brought Price to our country.” Hahaha. Great responses by Gary.
The most incredible thing about Jack is that if he's wife had been called to deliver their child that week, he'd have walked away and given the spot to someone else. Jack is not just a great golfer--perhaps the best of them all--but a great human being. Let's give props to the announcing team, just superb; so many lines to remember and never forget: Yes Sir! The Bear comes out of hibernation! The foreign invasion is, umm, reeling under the bear's attack!
I was 15 years old in 1986 and couldn’t have cared less about golf. Now my wife wishes I could care less about it. Fun to watch one of the most incredible green jacket victories of all time.
Seve choked on 15 when he yanked one short and left in the pond. When you yank it short and left...that's a common choke. Then Norman choked on 18 blowing a 7 iron up in the Patrons. All this for one reason...the GOAT was roaring!!
Finally, a US Masters that the presenters would have genuinely enjoyed. How dare 'the invaders' come over on merit and, heaven forbid, emerge victorious. I wonder how the they felt about this from 1988 onwards... The 1987 Ryder Cup was great too eh! Jack should have played, maybe then the US of A would have gained a point or two more. What a legend Mr Nicklaus is.
Nicklaus - 18 Majors at 46 years old. Tiger turns 46 this coming December, so he'll be 46 all the way through 2022. In other words, he's got 8 chances to tie the record by age, winning just 3 of the 8, and 4 to beat Jack. It'll be interesting to watch. But hard to imagine a better comeback than this 4rth round. A true life time sport.
The best part with this video is the lack of braindead "mashed potatoes"-bellows from drunk degenerates who's daily highlight is a well executed high five with his equally drunk buddy.
That's all they allowed onto the course back then. 17 and 18 was today's crowds back then as they were like kids in front of Santa just before Christmas
Oh greg norman, see this is why ur jealous of tiger and resentful...you see how you blew it cause of all the pressure...Shame...that's why he is who he is and ur just another former world number 1 who didn't live up to his ability

Love seeing this! Hope the game is strong still brother! I was born this year! haha.
@@NonnyStrikes It is still strong in me my man! Cheers!
That’s what the 1997 Masters did for me.
I saw a ninja in a movie when I was a kid and now I'm an electrician!
I was 16, and I remember ALL of it. Back in the day when my dad was still living and we'd always watch together. Thank you.
The 4th round of the '86 Masters is one of the greatest golfing events of all time!
no, EVER !
@@eggsmann594 your right, my mistake. Hahahahahaha!
I watched this live with my mom.. living in middle Georgia. Jack is the man 💪

What was the best thing about this final round is the quality of the leaderboard. Pretty much everyone in the top 10 won a major
And at 58 years old in 1998 Jack finished T-6th and had made a huge move on Sunday. Amazing 👏

Still the BEST!

Amen
1:42:18 “theres life in the old bear yet!"
Why must I cry at every masters....
Greatest masters round in the history of this tournament
You rock!
It should be Seve's third Green Jacket, but finally Nicklaus won for the history.
Seve choked on 15 when he yanked one short and left in the pond. When you yank it short and left...that's a common choke. Then Norman choked on 18 blowing a 7 iron up in the Patrons. All this for one reason...the GOAT was roaring!!
Is this live?
Klas Lindstein 😂
It was live in 1986

The Bear won the Masters. 🐻
1:52:28, "theres no doubt about it, the bear has come out of hibernation!"
Tha birdie by Norman at 17. Are you kidding me? Would’ve been the signature moment had he taken advantage of his tee shot on 18.
Respect for the Champion Jack Nicklaus
Verne Lunquist at 17......Yes Sir!....
Ben Wright at 15.... Yes Sir!....
He stole it you do realize that?
Yes sir!!!!
Verne stole that from a UK commentator
Wow, the broadcast feels ancient.

Too bad that car accident really took away those chances
"Jack Nicklaus has just won his sixth Masters"--

announcer said he won his 20th Major, he must have misspoke.
that made 18
If Norman had got it to the playoff Jack was done. He walked off the course as if he had won
Forgot how much of a headcase Norman was.... seemed like he hit maybe one or two fairways all day, and still almost pulled it off
Any chance of 2019 final round being uploaded?
Sunday!
Nicklaus is appropriately named "The Bear"(38:01).
Why do they say he was after his 20th major?
At one point in time, they counted U.S. Amateur titles as Majors. Jack won the Amateur twice.
26:55. Is this a practice round or the final??? Ghost town.
jdhrap final round 86 masters
Believe it or not this is what a lot of golf tournaments looked like before Tiger Woods.
That's all they allowed onto the course back then. 17 and 18 was today's crowds back then as they were like kids in front of Santa just before Christmas
If you love golf, if you love competition. If love legends , this is the tournament to watch. Look at 3:02:25, Jack looks like a kid again.
Ken Venturi sure said some stupid stuff.
Go Tiger
I wish norman won
The steadfast refrigerator counterintuitively precede because pain accordingly wink apropos a boundless chime. yielding, bashful softball

He's not jealous of Tiger. Shark had a great career
