    I was diagnosed when I was like 21. It shattered my life just knowing I have a heart condition that can end my life any second. After seeing my uncles pass away one by one from it , it’s not easy to cope with. Now it’s constantly in my head , I’m constantly listening to my heart beat , anything happened to me I relate it my heart. I have caused myself symptoms from being anxious about it. Now it’s hard to tell if it’s anxiety or heart related . Tbh I’ve never had symptoms , I get palpitations now and then but the doctors just tell me it’s normal . I was seeing my cardiologist every year and every time all my results came back normal . She told I have a normal heart weirdly and there is no thickening or irregular heart beat. She told me live normally and come every 2 years instead . I haven’t been past 4 years maybe I should go but just watching and hearing stories gets me more and more anxious and hate life

    I experienced sudden cardiac arrest. I too was misdiagnosed and was treated for asthma for 16 years. Even after an episode of sudden cardiac arrest, and having an angiogram, I was told my heart was clear. HCM is real and hereditary.

    I have HCM and I got open heart surgery. They cut out a muscle mass that was blocking the valve function of my heart. WHERE is her scar on her chest. She should have one like mine 3:48 A scar that starts 2 inches where your neck begins on your chest. IS this before her operation ?

      Dain BaughnSmith I just wanted to ask how you were diagnosed and why you have it or what caused it. I've been having some heart problems and I'm terrified of having HCM. I've had every test except for an echocardiogram and everything looks normal. I don't have a murmur, an enlarged heart or anyone in my family with it so would you possibly know my chance of having it? I'm also 16 and have had another heart condition since I was 12. I don't mean to waste your time, I'm just a little nervous.

    • @dainbaughnsmith3638
      @dainbaughnsmith3638 6 років тому

      Four years ago(when I was ten) my pediatrician hears a murmur and told us to go to children’s hospital to get it checked out. Long story short I have been living with no symptoms(except a very noticeable murmur) for four years. HCM is usually genetic, but if you know both sides of your genetics, then it still is possible to have HCM and have it be a fluke. My doctor says HCM will not usually skip a generation. My doctor also says the only real way to know, is to get an echocardiogram. Again, I’m not an expert but if you really are worried about it and want to be assured one way or another, then I would get an echo.

    Why not push for a septal myectomy or alcohol ablation? I’m currently getting medically separated from the navy for HCM and plan on getting to a center of excellence as soon as I’m home. I’m not gonna stop until I get the answer I want. I can’t do really any physical activities anymore and this is no way to live.

      HCM patients rarely use LVADs as the LV cavity is too small. Only 4-5% need transplants, the majority are on medical management with 25% needing ICD to protect against sudden cardiac arrest.
