My son has Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy. He is 12 and I love him so much. Sometimes I'm sad and fearful and sometimes I'm good in spirit and with faith in God. I believe my husband just died of this at 41. We were never worned of SD. ICD was mentioned as a possiblity of being implanted but never told it was necessary. I wish we had pursued getting an icd for him maybe he would have made it.
I have severe hcm and mytral valve disease I have had 3 icds my body won't except them. Ive had open heart to cut back some of excess tissue in the left ventricle 2 years ago. I'm have abnormal ekgs and I'm wearing an event monitor. My question is when refuse father medical treatment how long should I expect to live.. I'm tired. Just an estimated guess would help out with end of life prep. Thanks Jamie
Are you a NP, PA, MD, or DO reading this comment? I have HCM with LV obstruction. I hear about sudden cardiac arrest all the time, the statistic is 26 American athletes per year will drop dead. I can find no information about resuscitation in SCA for those with my condition. Any cardiac medical providers willing to tell me if resuscitation is possible with sudden cardiac arrest?
it is a great video. Thanks a lot. Is elevated t'riponin in HCM patient consider a risk factor? I am an HCM patient with the apical segments meaasuring up to 1.8 cm. After taking beta-block medicine since about 15 years ago, I have not had a sympton; Recently, my triponin number elevated to 164 ng/L. Do I need to implant an ICD?
Hi doctor, my greetings to you. I have hypertrophic cardiopmypathy May it be connected with my previous professional sport activity in boxing? As far, as I remember, when I was a member of United team I was diagnosed with "sinusioidal change in my heart. I got 63 today and I don't feel any disturbing feature. I can run or walk long distance. Though it was twice in my life, when I was young. My heart got squeezed much and I couldn't breathe in. I was in agony suffocatin. I tried 2 or even 3 times to breathe fully, but failed. Thus I had no other option, as to calm down and to wait, these moments lasted like whole eternity for me, though splits of seconds passed gradually I managed breathing in fully and that uncomfortable feeling disappeared. Shall I continue my sport activity exerecises? Thank you for interesting information.
Is eating before exercising thud causing syncope technically explained syncope?
How do I get this diagnos?
What about alcohol septal ablation? Seems as if that wasn't an option.
Could prolonged fasting cause SD to occur?
Why not just take Selenium?
My best friend just died in his sleep from HCM. No symptoms at all. He was 53.

Hello , iam a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy age 22 detected 2 years back. With wall thickness >30 mm . My brother died 2 months back age 27 with same diagonis. Due to arrythmia . Iam having ICD implanted as per my cardiologist. Is there anything remaining or its just my fear ?
Indus Insights fantastic your docs being proactive. My mother died at 27 and her sister at 41. I live in constant fear and panic even tho I see a cardiologist routinely.
Dont worry,I have samme hirstoy ,dont smoke dont drink alkohole,dont over wait.dont take stres, do chake up every month
This is interesting ... have you considered having surgery? I had septal myopathy last August at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. 100% successful and I’m 30 yrs your senior. Don’t over complicate this. I no longer have a-fib, shortness of breath or any exercise limitations. An ICD seems like a temporary solutions but your cardiologist knows best. Cleveland is also well known for treating HCM.
@@vijaykhedkar4465 thanks for your advise. I like to hear your advise. I m 27. I have this problem. 20 mm. But I wait the answer for the doctor. I m in hospital now. But I m feeling strong heart pain. Is there any solution. Like sergery or medication. Or some thing else. Thanks wait answer.

hello my father recently died at 63 back in april he was just 2 months out from having covid expericing long term covid fatigue and headaches that wouldnt go away. my father was in remission for over a year from stage 3 prostate cancer had radiation therapy for it. the autopsy dr said his heart was doubled in size, at some point in time he had a silent heart attack in the last few months and that his chambers were firing on all cylinders wrong that he was ready to drop dead at any time. the cause of death states hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy would you consider this due to covid?
Prayers to your father... So yes Covid can attack the hearth but the vaccine is also a factor. Did your father got the jab if yes how many. Did you check a autopsy for spike protein
@@jay-wl2di no vaccine for him and I spoke to the autopsy doctor she said his lungs were filled with fluid that’s a telltail Covid sign but she “couldn’t” say that was the cause of death because she’s in Florida lol
I diagnosed myself and in the hospital now waiting for them to tell me . I'm suffering and BP has/is too low . Also angioplasty makes it worse .
I think you will find there is no correlation with genetics HCM
So just finding out you are the minority with a higher risk of sudden death because I'm getting my ICD implanted tomorrow.
notblondeswede I got mine implanted 4 years ago don’t worry it’s rare to have any sort of risk for sudden death

But there are a large amount of people who are race color and skin tone that has black 🐈⬛🖤 in us. One neighbor years ago 🙀😱😲 a black man nice guy and we both have the same doctor that kelp me updated me the next day after he heard had a heart attack and my doctor 🏥 did tests on me as a get well gift 🧧🎁 to him.
