In North Atlantic when you come in off deck the last thing you want is to be reminded what it's like out there! To be enclosed within the strongest, finest crafted hull and houseworks, surrounded by stout furnishings and appliances, these are the dreams of the sons and daughters of the Vikings! LoL.
Christopher Zylstra Yeah, but don't Viking's want a double bed? LOL I'm assuming the owner is single and that they get the bottom bunk, not a boat for couples, someone will always be stuck with the top bunk. As for no port-lights, I would feel like I was in a floating coffin. Besides, you can always pull down the shade if you don't want to see out side.
+Castaway It's just not filmed. The single berth at a low and stable point are actually more practical in rough sail and fine for occasional guests. There is a double bunkbed aft in that layout. Actually with a quite smart solution - you slip in under the pilot house. There is although 4 massive port lights .... the sail locker/storage up front with a door is pretty cool for live aboards. Check out the pictures of K&M yacht builders on their website. Bestevaers are custom built dreams for serious cruising, and K&M has many pictures of different layouts and examples....
