This is why football is the best game ever. We’ve been to Wembley 5 times and The Millennium Stadium as well. We’ve beaten Liverpool and Chelsea and seen promotion from bottom place at Xmas. We endured Covid because our team was doing so well and all in recent times, and now we’ve sacked our manager just before bursting into the play offs. This video is superb by the way. Don’t worry, be happy.

I agree with your view. Timing is very bizarre. Barnsley are still in a good position to reach the play offs. Last game at home v Northampton. The players need to do their job and the fans need to get behind the players and be the 12th man!

It doesnt surprise me that he has gone, but the timing seems crazy.-that said, sometimes interim managers can give that short-term boost that's needed in a time like this. From an imp.

I've thought for weeks since January, that I think there's problems behind scenes , and I don't think it's just losing the dressing room by the coach etc..but the twits we've in charge of the club. Its all guessing, but there's history as we all know with them and players ... summats not right at mill ..

I don’t understand why 5th was that bad , I thought he done well for his first job here .
Sacked at the wrong time imo, maybe earlier would of been realistic but 1 game to go was a bad choice and I felt sorry for him, just a guy trying to do his job!
Timing of it to me was wrong 1 game to go it's crazy now we've got davo as interim but not the experience for play offs just hope they get someone with league experience

An absolutely daft decision. Yes, they've not being doing very well lately - but all teams go through bad spells. What clubs in general can't grasp is that things take time to build - Revie, Shankly, Ferguson to name but three are proof of that. He should have been allowed to finish the season. For what it's worth I attended the open training session with my grandson Leo - Collins was lovely with him. I liked the bloke.

Although to outsiders, it looks like strange timing but I don't think many Barnsley fans were surprised.

Im confused more than anything. Timing is the bizarre thing but it boils down to 1 of several reason. 1 would be they have someone lined up with a remit to achieve promotion by end of next season and a bonus if they do it via playoffs this season. It could be that he lost the dressing room and something kicked off that made his position untenable or alternatively it simply could be that Oakwell would become very hostile on Saturday if we dont win/ scrape through with a draw and devaney is given a free hit because fans wont turn on him if we fail at the last hurdle.
Either way as fans we owe it to ourselves to make Oakwell rock Saturday and finish the season on a high. If everyone inside is singing at 2:59pm im sure the lads will feel a weight lifted off their shoulders and play like they did 1st half vs Derby, vs Pompey for 80 mins or the last 35 mins Vs Blackpool. If we dont go through chalk this season off and pressure the board constantly to put some intelligence behind their next appointment and next seasons signing.

I agree it's not all Collins fault. No one reaĺlly expects us to win on Saturday. It stops a riot after the game. If we do go into the playoffs by some miracle, we are not going to Wembly. I don't think any manager can change this. The board can focus on next season, the new manager & squad. Feel like there is something they are not telling us.

Think Collins has used up all his motivational talks earlier in season, Number of times we turned defeat into wins was good, Sad that it didn't work out but from the outside, Some players downed tools?

Collins can be blamed for some of the poor results, but the players need to step up. reasons for sacking, 8 points form last 10 games and low season tickets sales for next season.

Looks like the owners have just hit the panic button, but how is this going to help reduce the panic that has set in ?? Sheer Madness!! I blame the players for not turning up week after week, not Collins, even though long term I don't think he was the right fit for us.

Agree, one of the best sides I've seen at Fratton this season. Saturday/playoffs will determine the brave or stupid part...but as you say who knows. I can see it's a throw of the dice and the board are betting a change gets them the best odds.

He should have gone ages ago, should have never brought what was in my opinion a non league level manager in which he came from a league where league 2 and non league teams could have beaten, the club need to grow some bollocks on and off the pitch and get someone who is well know (league 1,2 or even Scotland or someone who is out of a job that is a well respected manager) preferably I would go either duff or old Cambridge United manager Mark bonner
