The Pool of Siloam in Jerusalem has a significant Christian archeological meaning. It is the Pool of Siloam in which, according to the Gospel of John, is the place where Jesus healed a blind man by putting a mud on his eyes and sending him to wash them with the water of the pool. The name Siloam is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name Shiloah, which means “send” or “let go.” Isn’t that interesting?
Now why is this site of the Pool of Siloam so unique?
Because if we can find archeological evidence of the location of the Pool of Siloam, we can be sure that Jesus has actually been at this site.
So where is the Pool of Siloam?
The Pool of Siloam is mentioned several times in the Bible. Isaiah 8:6 mentions the pool’s waters, while Isaiah 22:9 refers to the construction of Hezekiah’s Tunnel.
The Pool of Siloam is a rock-cut pool on the southern slope of the City of David, the original site of Jerusalem, located outside the walls of the Old City to the southeast. The pool is fed by the waters of the Gihon Spring.
Until 2004, people thought that the pool at the end of Hezekiah’s Tunnel was the right location. The Byzantine empress, Eudocia (400-460 A.D), was the first to build a church there, but was destroyed when Jerusalem was captures by the Muslims. Today we can see some of the church pillars located at that pool (now called the Byzantine Pool). For years, the Byzantine Pool of Siloam was a sacred destination for Christian pilgrims from all over the world.
In the autumn of 2004, during a sewer excavation in the area, stone steps were found. The shape of these steps and the fact that there was a corner to the steps led to the assumption that these were not regular steps but part of a Second Temple-period pool. Excavations commenced and confirmed that this is the original Pool of Siloam dating back to the time of Jesus.
This archeological finding made the Pool of Siloam one of few places in Jerusalem where we can be sure that today we can actually walk on stones that Jesus has actually walked on.

We walked through the tunnel the day after Yom Kippur in 2009, doing a tour of that area and the newly found things. Awesome to walk at pool as shown in this video, the steps. Very nice video

Inscription: This is the story of the boring through: while [the tunnellers lifted] the pick, each towards his fellows, and whilst three cubits [yet remained] to be bored through, [there was heard] the voice of a man calling his fellow, for there was a split in the rock on the right hand and on [the left hand]. And of the day of the boring through, the tunnellers struck, each in the direction of his fellow, pick against pick. And the water started to flow from the sources to the pool twelve hundred cubits." Ref. page 73, Paul Johnson's "A History of the Jews." A cubit is about 1 1/2 feet so 1200 cubits is about 1800 feet or 0.34 miles or 1/2 km.

I can’t believe I am seeing these things, ancient kings have tried to find them and had it wrong for hundreds and hundreds of years, I hope you all can grasp it, I can’t believe I’m looking at the Pool of Siloam where He stood and healed the blind man 🙌🙌🙌I’m speechless I had no idea it was larger than a commercial pool of our times! No idea it was such an extensive massive pool that is incredible can’t wait till all the secrets of that area are revealed, this is just incredible

Woa very intriguing, mind blowing. I wished to visit and be in those historical places. It makes me strongly believing the bible when I read it. The history here is so richly important, this is Jesus Christ walks into it 2.000 years ago, God walks along this places on earth. Praise God He reveals these site's by archeological lines, scientifically. Science and archeology proves that God is real. 🙏🙏💖💖🙏🙏

Teresa Karr You prove God correct. He sends no one to hell, you send yourself there... Would God be righteous if He allowed those who mocked His children in this life, ones that strived too obey and love Him too let you live with them and Him in eternity? Once time ends there is no place for unbelievers too exist if they rejected their creator. You are with Him or against Him.

      Rick Howard
Hey Rick, you gotta read Numbers 16, read the whole chapter, korah gets sent to hell by God.
Also, there's Ananias and Sapphira, who thought they could tell a lie about how much they sold their land for, they also were sent to hell by God.
These are just two Bible passages i know of, but it goes to show, God is capable of sending anyone to the pit, should they try and cheat him or question his authority.
      God bless brother...

Good Tour! I say this as I too used to do Christian tours throughout most of Israel and always liked Hezikiah's Tunnel (He-zi qi YAH-YAHWEH's strength!)
Yess- many great archaeological finds throughout Israel these last twenty years. But I would remind all Christians- Israel is Not- an Amusement Park where you just go, pay your entrance fee and your in! There is soo much more happening- i.e. (Mat.24.6 'signs' are upon the whole world and escalating quickly!

The blind person did not approach Jesus seeking any kind of redemption or anything. The blind person was sitting on the side of the street begging for coins. Jesus approached him.

More importantly, the leading Jews condemned Yeshua for healing the man, because he did it on the Sabbath. How hypocritical of them. Secondly, Jesus it says "passed by the man." Certainly it is not without some justification that we can assume that the man hearing the commotion cried out to Yeshua for mercy as he certainly knew of his reputation as a man of great works. For John records, Yeshua as saying, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned [i.e., a special sin caused his blindness] but that the works of God should be revealed in him." And the works of God have been revealed with the telling of this event for the past 2,000 years or so.

FALSE - Hezekiah's Pool IS NOT only mentioned in John from your NT!!!
    2 Kings Chapter 20 מְלָכִים ב
20 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
    2 Chronicles 32:2-4
    2 Chronicles 32:30

    • @kenzeier2943

Christians are very familiar with the passages from 2 Kings 20 and the more extensive account of the tunnel that Hezekiah built with the help of "am ha-aretz" in 2 Chronicles 32. The validity of the information of John 9 is confirmed and strengthened by the earlier references and shown to be consistent and credible.
