"KINGDOM" is a movie based on events that took place about two centuries ago in the region where China is now located. It is the story of a boy who aspires to become a general. This song is the theme song for the fourth movie in the series, and I think the lyrics and music video are very meaningful because they interweave the world of KINGDOM with various events in modern society and the resentment that ONE OK ROCK feels.
I think the words "I pray there's future behind those walls", "We are the kingdom" and "Everything's fair in love and war" are especially linked to the movie. "KINGDOM" depicts the importance of life and the bond between people, but at the same time, at the time the film is depicting, once a battle was fought, many people were sacrificed. The fighting style was manpower, and it was a time when the weight of life was seen as light.
In the modern era, if that has changed, it has not at all, and unfortunately it is still the same. The song seems to express a wish that we should not be indifferent to such things and to world events. And also that it's never a stranger.
Taka sings "We're all delusional" and also "I pray there's future behind those walls". The cry of his heart in these lyrics, "Even though we live in this terrible world, please don't give up hope," pierces my heart as well.
Perhaps because it contains so many elements, the reactions of the recipients vary. The more indifferent the listener is to politics and world events, the harder it may be to convey the true meaning of this song.

yeah, as a citizen of Myanmar currently happening severe civil war and it's been 4 yrs till now. I didn't know about Kingdom movie but when this song was out on YT, the lyrics literally it hit me hard
A message song with political elements. This song was released two days after the Tokyo gubernatorial election. It truly represents modern society itself. You must realize that you are being deceived. It's like they say

The line about "We are The Kingdom" its fairly straightforward.. like lets relate it to Marvel's Asgard. Where Odin and Thor (formerly only Odin) understood that Asgard is not the City or Planet.
But the people themselves. After all, what is a city without its people?
