How great for you and your son to be together but it's a shame that your family treated him badly especially your wife and the first family house that you went to where his grandfather shakes his hand only. Keep an eye on your son they will continue to treat him that way as long as you allow it.

Everyone's making assumptions, so here's mine. He remarried the angry women in the video that has two daughters that he took in as his own. The boy is from a previous marriage. By the behavior of everyone, not named the dad, it's damn lucky his mom raised him.

Judging by the age gap, looks like daddy probably cheated. It is not the son's fault. The wife is angry with the husband, and she should have it out with him and not take her bitterness out on the boy.
The son looks younger than the daughters, could be the result of an affair? Could explain why the wife is acting the way she is. However, it isn't the boys fault if he is the result of an affair but definitely the Dad's in making this super awkward.
Ace"cool"nice" - You're right. Maybe that's why the wife is not at all happy. I'd like to think that after she calms down she could at least be a bit nicer to the son. Be made at hubby, not the son. Then again, maybe her attitude was what caused the cheating. We may never know.

Awkward video. No back story given at all and an underwhelming emotional response from just about everyone in the family. Hope Payton is doing well despite having a father who has no emotional intelligence to help ease the transition.

I am so happy that you made the effort to get to know and spend time with your son, but feel terrible for him for the way some of the family was toward him...namely your wife and father. If they weren't prepared and willing to embrace, don't participate. They were beyond horrible.

Sadly, the father desperately wants everyone to like his son so he lives in a dream world and only sees what he wants to see. The wife seems to be bitter that he has a son but not from her. And the sister, Madelyn, who's the only one always near the son, Payton, seems to have a thing for her half brother.

if the story is true happy for the father and son reuniting. the rest are insignificant as they do not seem to welcome Peyton. The father holds responsibility for this whole thing. The poor boy is caught in between all these oddities for no fault of his. Lesson for others organizing reunions of this sort, make it comfortable for the kid/s...they are the receivers for no fault of theirs.

I dont get this. 90% of almost every reunion story is about the search, how the separation occurred, how many years apart, etc. . . . and finally the climatic moment when someone is found and they get to reconnect.

There's so many things that could have happened here. The two girls might not be the dads biological children. Maybe the dad just found out about Payton. If so does that mean everyone else is just finding out about him. Whatever this story is the woman sitting in the front seat needs an attitude adjustment. Maybe she will get it in gear. That is the weirdest video I've seen about family reunions. That boy was clearly not welcome in that home. His step-mother also seemed like quite the weird duck in her actions.

No background given, so I’m just guessing that Peyton is the result of an affair/one night stand since he is younger than his sisters - the oldest one at least. If that’s the case, I can understand why the wife was especially unenthusiastic about being around the kid. He is the living, breathing reminder of her husband’s infidelity and that has to be hard. I think he comments are judging her too harshly.

How come you picked up the girls and Peyton at the same time? You didn't give us a background either, which means we can only 'assume'. Regardless of the background, it's lovely that you have your son in your life, but I think your wife could have been just a tad less sarcastic (ok, a lot less sarcastic, which sort of gives grounds to the 'assumption'). Whatever it was, it's not Peyton's fault! She obviously agreed to him joining the family so she should have been an 'adult' and behaved accordingly.

This has to be awkward for everyone because it seems this child is a result of an affair so not everyone is thrilled. Perhaps the dad should have chosen a less emotionally packed day to introduce his son as holidays can be very stressful. Maybe a small, immediate family gathering would have been an easier start for everyone.

The wife's behavior was totally insincere. Methinks Peyton was conceived during an extramarital affair. She seems bitter!
On one hand, the boy certainly didn't ask to be put in this situation. On the other hand, the wife never imagined herself in a situation like this. So what did we learn today from this?
