Braveheart is a 1995 American epic historical drama film directed by, produced by, and starring Mel Gibson. Gibson portrays Sir William Wallace, a late-13th century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. The film also stars Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan and Catherine McCormack. The story is inspired by Blind Harry's 15th century epic poem The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace and was adapted for the screen by Randall Wallace.
Development on the film initially started at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) when producer Alan Ladd Jr. picked up the project from Wallace, but when MGM was going through new management, Ladd left the studio and took the project with him. Despite initially declining, Gibson eventually decided to direct the film, as well as star as Wallace. Braveheart was filmed in Scotland and Ireland from June to October 1994 with a budget around $65-70 million. The film, which was produced by Gibson's Icon Productions and The Ladd Company, was distributed by Paramount Pictures in North America and by 20th Century Fox internationally.
Released on May 24, 1995, Braveheart was praised for its action, drama, and romance, though it was criticized for being historically inaccurate. Nonetheless, the film was successful both critically and commercially. A legacy sequel, Robert the Bruce, was released on June 28, 2019, with Angus Macfadyen reprising his role. - Ігри

It was a first film my dad and I brought to out little Siberian town in 1995 from Moscow. I was just 10. This movie had a big impact on my life and the music will always have a place in my heart.

Such a sound there is no doubt in my heart - i remember my father who died of massive heart attack in 1995. I was alone in the movie theatre after a couple of years later, with deep emptiness and constant search of his eyes, i calmed in the movie with my tears… behind this song… the handkerchief fallen down like a leaf in my soul - that was an incredible moment in my life! ❤️

I am from nz and when my father passed we have a tradition in the Maori culture we sit with him for three days also I’m part Scottish ob with my name so there was lots of both of our cultures but on the third day it was hard to let him go . Me too. This movie is really a successful PR of Scotland, worthy more than billion dollars.
It's just as good in reality... the Scottish Highlands are an untouched raw beauty. I've been a few times, one of my favourite places.
I'm glad the weather is cold it keeps the tourists away and preserves it's peace and magnificence. The people are very friendly and fun too.
Be careful there's a Pakistani version of this film please don't watch it we don't you falling in love with that lot 😂

Absolutely beautiful. RIP James Horner. This soundtrack should be the main musical theme of Scotland. I cant believe Horner didnt win Best Original Score for Braveheart as well as Titanic.

I’m dating a beautiful Scottish man, of whom I truly love with all my heart now.
Nevertheless, I have been a widow for almost ten years. Everytime when William dreams of Murron I can’t help but cry because I can feel Wallace agony and pain in wanting to be with his beloved wife. In my case with my late beloved husband. After all these years Everytime when I listen to this music I can’t help but shed tears for the sorrow of the past and the hopes in the future with my new Canadian/Scottish 💕 love.

When I was reading the story, the theme of the story was the music, yes, there is a medieval atmosphere, the swords are swinging and the swords are clanging in the fight for freedom.
