Rytm/Syntakt/Digitakt LFO speed and multiplier CLEARLY EXPLAINED // LFO beat sync

- Elektron is (in) famous for some weird implementation choices and the LFO rate is defintely one of them. What does 'speed' and 'multiplier' even mean? And how do they work if I want to sync the LFO rate to my beat?

This was so obscure when I bought the machines. And the manual doesn't help at all. Thanks for the explanation. Needed that.
Glad I could help :)
Same here. This explanation really helps. Thanks.
Same here, thank you!
Well done, this is one of those things where (before watching this) I FELT like I understood it, but I could never have explained it in words. Faces, maybe.
It's an old paradigm that began on the original Monomachine and Machinedrum where the range of values for most parameters was 001-128. The simplest way I found to think of it is like the sequencer. It has 16 steps. So LFO speed synced to the sequencer is 1,2,4,8,16 etc. For even divisions. It's the same with the timing in the delay FX in the old Elektrons too. Another interesting note is that the S&H wave is 16 times faster than the "regular" waves. It makes 16 "steps" in the same time a regular wave makes a single cycle. This is also helpful to keep in mind when going for a synced S&H modualtion
Oh wow this is very useful, thanks for chiming in!!!
I didn’t know the history of this (super interesting) neither that the FX timing follows the same logic. And the S&H fact is gold, thanks again 🙌
Very interesting, thanks for the info!
this is indeed the clearest explanation on elektron lfos, great job!
Wow, thanks!
That was way more entertaining than expected.
Eheh..Happy to hear! 🤡
I’m so happy fate / chance has brought me to your video :3
And I’m so happy to read your comment :3
Those weird LFO divisions always bother me. Appreciate your way to present useful information with humor. Thanks!
P.S. Wow! Unpainted Digi! :)
Glad you enjoyed!
Yesss it’s a limited edition :) there’s should be only 600 out there
Great explanation - thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, thanks for this 😅 I have tried to figure out logic for this ny myself periodically over the last few years without ever bothering to look it up (and apparently glazing over the table in the manual), and because of that very rarely do I use LFOs rhythmically since it was such a pain to figure out.
I kept thinking, okay, speed at 16 would maybe mean like, 1 cycle per note in a 16 note bar, then if the mult was at x1 bpm that shohld mean it syncs up to one cycle per 16th note, and x2 would be double speed, etc.. but of course it doesnt work that way and i couldnt figure it out!
Of course theres a secret mathematical formula that most people would never figure out!
I will remember this and use it much in the future, and save this for later if I ever forget 😅 Thanks very much!
All new Elektron machines should ship with this video in the box.
🫶 @WeAreElektron
Real clearly! Thx, bro ❤
@@mode_ru 🙌
Elektron is taking care of his own memes by implying heavy math in the simple task of syncing an LFO.
That is really funny. Thank you so much !
I even read the manual at one point, and didn't know this. So valuable!
I knooow the manual it’s so confusing and incomplete on the lfo matter
Thank you!! ❤
Awesome work thankyou🙏🏻😊
Happy to help on this annoying matter :)
@solarj not annoying just opened up my head that little bit more
thanks mate!
you're welcome!Happy it was helpful :)
Genius video!!!
Thanks mate!
great vid, clear precise... well done on grabbing the Ltd Ed. It's a bit sad but the shop in NZ had a sale on the syntakt on saturday but only the black one, never mind, I'll take the 25% off and turn my lights up a bit :P... should arrive tomorrow, itching to get my fingers on it
Congrats on your new baby :) you’ll not regret it, Syntakt is a lot of fun!
Thanks this is the channel i was looking for.
Glad you found me :)
Subbed.
This video deserves 16 x 1000 subs.
Dad-doo dad-doo dad-doo dad-doo 🤗
Top tutorial
Ahahah thanks 😄 also 32 * 2000 / 4 subs work as well!
Happy you liked it :)
Well done, thank you for clarification 🙏
My pleasure!
This could be extremely useful if you use lock triggers to change the time of the lfo and also could be used as an ARP which is what I'm missing the most from the DT. Thanks for uploading!
Cool idea with the triggers 🤔
Thanks for this great tip /video. Will helps a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh man this is genius. Earned a subscribe! This helped crack the code for me and toss away the calculator.
Glad this helped :)
super helpful, thank you so much
Happy it was useful!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻yeaaaa
🙌
Super useful explanation 👏🎛
Great to hear :)
Zo shyni!
Wich parameter do you modulate with the lfo?
In this video i modulate the oscillator pitch (SYN TUNE). Not the most creative one to modulate but I figured was the best for demonstration as it’s pretty obvious.
🤔i dont find it in my digitone.. only SYN detune and Syn pitch all@@solarj
I just turn the speed up to max and then your multiplier is all your even divisions
Also works :) and easy to remember
