I have a 114e that I acquired 10 years ago and it has been an outstanding stage guitar. It really is a lot of guitar for the money. Interesting short story...A single Mom attended a Taylor seminar where Bob Taylor was present, and while he was taking some questions, the Mom explained that her teenage son wanted a Taylor acoustic very much, and she was on a very limited budget, so which Taylor would be the best option for her to purchase? Mr Taylor replied "the 100 series"...Then she asked him which guitar would he recommend for down the road when she can afford something else...Again he replied, "the 100 series". That tells me a lot about the guy and how much he believes in his products, from top to bottom. To be clear, I'm not a Taylor fan boy at all, but I do like them, and their 100 and 200 series are really good guitars, no matter the price. Sorry for writing a book. I thought it was a story worth sharing. Rock on, Jeremy!

I dropped $1200 on an almost new Taylor 214ce BLK DLX (I call her Black Beauty) and I do not regret it for a second. I used to play a Seagull and all I did was strum 4 dumb chords to accompany myself leading worship at church. I never played it just to play guitar, and never tried to learn anything new. Since I bought my Taylor, all I want to do is learn new songs, new chords, new styles, write new songs, etc etc. I have branched out SO much in my playing in the past couple months since I got this thing! I’m so much more confident in my playing, too. It just sounds SO good and I love it more every day. And all of a sudden I’m collecting and playing other instruments, too. Like a cello, ukelele, and U bass (the cutest little thing ever). This Taylor took me from a very basic church worship leader to feeling like an actual musician. I also switched churches and had a bunch of other big life transition happen in between guitars, so that contributes, but I have to say, this guitar has been a very good companion to me.
Love it. Thus is how I get inspired. I believe you just made my decision for me on which Taylor I want. So.. if I get this guitar I will play better and write songs as well lol kidding aside I get what you say
I just bought my first Taylor a month ago. The 214ce-k. I usually prefer Martins in the store as a side by side comparison but this one spoke to me loud and clear. I couldn’t forget it and had to buy it the next day. Fortunately, I had some trade ins that helped. It’s far better than any acoustic I’ve had or thought I’d own. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it daily and don’t see that changing. It makes me want to play more and create new songs. Glory to God. Jesus is Lord. Amen.

I also have a couple of Taylors, a GAMC, which is a fantastic finger style guitar with a cedar top and mahogany back and sides and a 914c, which has an Englemann spruce top and rosewood back and sides. 4-time Taylor owner here. 114e very first guitar...still own and LOVE...could never understand the 200 series for my next buy...too close to the 100 series...both Mexican built...leaped to Taylor's 300 series, U.S. made, all wood, never looked back. That said, evidently many like those 200s...so...whatever floats your boat! Love your channel!
Glad to see a Taylor video. Good one. I’m an old guy. I play fingerstyle only. Mostly Fahey type stuff and have been hooked on 12 fretters forever. I have two Taylor 12 fret guitars. 312ce and 322e. They play so easy.
A fair review. It would be good to hear it after a truss rod adjustment and with some PB strings, though. Seems like you got a good deal and I think this would be a really nice guitar for fingerstyle playing.
Jeremy I played a 214 at Guitar Center a few years ago. It is an amazing guitar for the money. This guitar is great. I would buy a 214 any day. The larger depth guitars are too head on my shoulder since I had a fall a few years ago. I love them, also if you ever get the chance tour the Factory in El Cajon it is well worth your time.

Jeremy: when I look at guitars under $1,000 I evaluate guitar and case separately. If you got a nice OHSC included in this purchase, that’s worth $150-$200 all day long. Take that from $ 625 and you only paid $425 to $475 for the guitar. Great job!

I tried this guitar today at GC in Hollywood. A Beautiful amazing guitar, sounds excellent, sustain and bass. Sadly, the 1 11/16” nut is too tight for me. I went ahead with the 314, so much more comfortable, but both sound amazing. If the nut width isn’t an issue for you, go with the 214e
I know Taylor guitars are excellent guitars. No doubt. I'm just a Martin guy. It's a totally personal thing. Absolutely nothing against Taylor! I drive a Ford pickup. Nothing against Chevy or Dodge....
So we have Martin, Gibson, Collings, Santa Cruz, Huss and Dalton, Lowden, Fylde, Maton and maybe more than 100 others including Taylor, but Taylor are the most compelling? Is that what you meant? I doubt it.

Too thin and chimey, reminding me of Yamahas. And NOWDAYS Teylors are even worse (in terms of price vs sound quality). Dirt-cheap Harley Benton's CD/CL lines sound almost the same, but come at the fraction of Taylor's prices (e.g. CLA-15MCE all mahogany sells for under 200$).
Hey Jeremy. I’m selling a basically brand new barely used Taylor 324ce. Mahogany top Blackwood back and sides. Not a scratch. I paid 2200 for it new. I’m trying to get even 1750 only a few months later. Does that seem like a fair price? The Guitar has not a flaw. Even the pick guard is scratch free. Cash makes me nervous because if all the fake bills but I am just trying to sell it locally here in so cal. Am I asking to much? It’s mint or as close to brand new as that can get. God bless you and I hope your friend skylar is it? Has found peace. That story made me hurt. I prayed on the slit for her and her family. Wow. That’s just tragic. My heart goes out to y’all. -Ryan
Ahh my friend, I know this is an older video. But because it doesn’t say Martin or Gibson on the neck you discount it. Discount in the sense that it’s not on the same level as these vintage guitars you buy and sell. Although phenomenal how much money is spent on neck resets. And refrets? I’ve been playing for over 30 yrs. I have yet to see a Gibson out of the box that can even begin to compete with a Taylor. With that said most martins don’t compete either. I just bought a 214e dlx just like the one you bought in this video. Trust me I’ve played countless Gibson’s and actually passed up a j45 for this one. These guitars are phenomenal and will serve you for years relatively cost free as compared to neck resets and repair costs associated with the older martins and Gibsons, as well as the more expensive boutique builders. I appreciate what your doing and I do love your videos. But don’t discount these guitars
Hey this is my ONLY social media access ( I know I’m weird ) but whenever you get ready to sell this beauty I will like a chance to get it .. I’ll even fly from Florida to Virginia to get it saving you shipping and taxes
100%. That’s the only thing keeping me from a Taylor. I do believe them to be of superior playability, I just don’t love the high trebly sound ALL the time.
I have a 214ce that I bought in 2009. I had to send my D-28 HD to the Martin Factory for some warranty covered issues. I needed a guitar to play in the mean time. Still really like it a lot. It’s the guitar that I play out at Farmers Markets during the summer.
Very nice looking and sounding guitar man! As soon as soon as you hit that open E chord I thought of "Open the Eyes of my heart" from back in the day haha
We have one in our band it sounds brilliant and never feeds back. The tone is sweet. It is an older version of this model, same shape I don’t believe it’s laminated either,if that makes any difference. Just has T on top for a logo.
The reason you don't see second owner Taylor's very often is because when someone buys a Taylor they realize the difference between Taylor guitars and other brands, and are unwilling to let their Taylor go. Taylor guitars are made with precision. You can rely on Taylor to be standardized. That is, with other guitars, you have to actually hold and play them to know what you are getting b/c the same make and model of two individual guitars can vary greatly. Whereas with Taylor, you can buy a series model in San Francisco, and it will sound and be exactly like the same series model in Boston, or New York, or Texas. Taylor guitars are just that reliable. And also, Taylor's are a good investment. If the time ever comes that you want to sell your Taylor, there will always be a market for them b/c of their high standards and materials quality. Another good place to shop for a second owner guitar is REVERB dot com. Like eBay, Reverb also has a search ticket available to help you find exactly what you are looking for. But if you are up for a absolutely new guitar (and have lots of questions about which one to buy,) check out Alamo Music in San Antonio, Texas; (I believe they have a toll free 800 number available.) They are great folks to talk with and can walk you through the process to exactly what you are looking for. However I can personally recommend Taylor guitars; (I also own Alvarez, Martin, Larivee, and other acoustic guitars). I have a Taylor 812ce. They don't fall out of tune (a real nuisance with many other brands), are comfortable to play, have great action, are beautiful to look at (gorgeous grains,) are a quality instrument, and are an excellent investment. I hope you find the exact guitar of your dreams, and I wish you a wonderful guitaring journey. (PS: I am not affiliated with Taylor guitars, Reverb, eBay, or Alamo Music, nor am I being paid for any kind of endorsement. The above opinions are from my personal experience only.)
Thanks, my son in law plays a Breedlove Atlas, but as a paramedic intern here, he had to leave it back home so he's played the Taylor Academy 12 (mahogany neck) and 12e (maple neck) during his laundry night at my place. He's impressed with the concert body, armrest bevel and other features that Andy Powers managed to put into the Academy Series at that low price point ($500 acoustic, $649 acoustic-electric, and produced since 2017). Chris McKee's Alamo Music video review sold me on these.

I love all three guitars. I also have a Strat, 1960 Les Paul Special and many older Paul Reed Smith guitars. Why limit yourself in the tools you use for making music?
what are those chords that you're playing? i'm somewhat of a new guitar and want to play something similar
i wasn't big fan of Taylor sound ,but new V bracing 414ce rosewood turn out to be one sweet guitar.
Great video, just bought a 214ce open box for $675
A fair review.
Have you seen the the Taylor GT?
@@charlesbranch4120 no Charles I have not seen it yet in person. They really are amazing instruments!
Let me know if you ever wanna sell it! I live close to Harrisonburg and I’ve been using a 45 dollar Yamaha all quarantine with more cracks in it than a plumbers convention😅Ready to move to something better
I can’t afford the expensive Taylor’s but I have a 114ce and love it and stands out. People at church somehow know I’m playing Taylor just from listening. Definitely a acoustic I plan on keeping for awhile.
I bought the cut-away version of this two years ago. Love it.
GSmin Mahogany for me! its so good!
I purchased this a few months ago. Its become my go to. I used it at church this past Sunday, and the other guitarist told me "You need to stop it with that fire right there. You're going to make me sin"
I bought the same guitar. What type of strings do you recommend I put on it? And could you put thicker ones on it? (female)
I bought the same guitar. What type of strings do you recommend I put on it? And could he put thicker ones? (male)
I have a Taylor 214ce but it has Spruce Top, Just wondering how it differs with Deluxe in terms of tone.
The deluxe has tons of bass, they use rosewood layers back and sides where the 214ce could be back and sides of walnut, rosewood, etc
For acoustics, all I have are two Taylor 210s (one is a DLX) and I could not be happier.
How do you know what year the guitar is made in what month?
Thank you for all your time
See the decoder at TaylorGuitars dot com. Currently the 3rd and 4th digits denote the month, 5th and 6th the day, 2nd and 6th the year. The first digit denotes the plant location, the last three the sequence in that day's production. Mahalo!
I skipped around your video so I missed it if you said it, but it should be mentioned that the 214s are made in Mexico. That should not be a factor. I've had my 214ce since 2020 and it's awesome. You got a great deal.
Great deal on that Taylor!
Jeremy: when I look at guitars under $1,000 I evaluate guitar and case separately. If you got a nice OHSC included in this purchase, that’s worth $150-$200 all day long. Take that from $ 625 and you only paid $425 to $475 for the guitar. Great job!
And the Taylor hardshell cases are fantastic.
I thought the 200 series has 1 11/16” on them?? Maybe you got a custom built?? Either way beautiful and sounds great!!
I like my Seagull 🎸... To me it has a better sound than Taylor....
agreed same here, i have one and i never had a complaint
Love your stuff, man. You’re one of the reasons I got a 114e. Keep up the positive work!
114e...my first guitar...still love it!
Sold my Taylors. Gibson USA better for me. Never use non USA instruments
I’ve had a Taylor 714ce for about 5 years. Bought it new. I must say I am not impressed with it at all. Like most Taylor’s it has no soul.
lol! What’s your brand of choice then? I’m not a fan of the sounds of Taylor products either, they are nice though!
Nice guitar. You got a deal.
Sold a 214cedlx and bought a Martin D15. Taylor sounded thin, lots of high freq. Martin sounds thick. I like it better.
Can someone please identify the song that started at 0.28? Thanks in advance.
Did you ever find out what is called its a great song
@@scuba6936 No i never found out but you're right, it's a beauty!
I'm going to copy it, add some extra lyrics and call it my own 🤣🤣🤣
Just bought my first Taylor today 214ce sb dlx on marketplace barely played with case for $450 guy didn't know what he had
Another good episode! Love the colour scheme. Don’t own a Taylor or a Martin but enjoy learning from you about some of the differences that exist. Thanks 🙏
Your channel just continues to get better. Always appreciate your honesty re these deals.
U hit a jackpot i got my taylor T5z same color it is georgous enjoy the most of it taylor guitars are the best i also own a taylor T3B in orange its a beauty now im looking for a nylon taylor
Lacks a little bass
But sparkles..
My go to gigging guitar is a 114 a Baggs Element...sounds great
This past week, I bought a 2023 model 214ce BLK DLX for $800 should I keep it or sell it for like $1,300? Previous owner used it for 1 month.
I just bought a GTe, why? Plays like a Taylor, sounds like 00 Martin
why buy a Taylor 214 when you you can buy a Ysmaha 16DDL..which sounds 10x better
I wish Taylor would make the 414 a bare bones 814 instead of a weird sounding high pitched guitar.
I keep finding them on marketplace and 95% say they have had crakes repaired. What gives.
I’m just missed to buy a Taylor 214 CE used🥴🥴 sold inside 16 hours 🥲🥲🥲
I wish every buyer and seller was as responsible as you are….I buy and sell guitars here and there and try to behave non predatory! 🇨🇦Cheers
So we have Martin, Gibson, Collings, Santa Cruz, Huss and Dalton, Lowden, Fylde, Maton and maybe more than 100 others including Taylor, but Taylor are the most compelling? Is that what you meant? I doubt it.
The only problem for me is cost......For that price you can close to a used, mint US made solid wood guitar. Should be around the $700-$800 range.
Tied to Praise and Worship? Hell no,... I play drop D,... open D chords and pretty stuff in the key of D (for Devilishly good!) LOL,... Just being silly,... any way I have 2 Taylors I bought just to record with and they are without a doubt TONE monsters!! Check out www.dcsparks.com to hear my Taylors on Forever and Forever as one.... thank you,... and good night!
I’m not sure where you found that guitar so cheap! It’s about 900-1k everywhere I look
-Ryan
Excellent presentation and playing. Appreciated your insight and knowledge share. Have you done a review of other Taylors? Specifically the 322ce?
Jeremy good video I appreciate the way you deal with people I have a Taylor not sure what model very playable
Have a merry Christmas
Hey this is my ONLY social media access ( I know I’m weird ) but whenever you get ready to sell this beauty I will like a chance to get it .. I’ll even fly from Florida to Virginia to get it saving you shipping and taxes
I have a Taylor GS Mini -e Mahogany and I love it!
Me too. Great little guitar
It's 1600 euros in Europe which is a lot to ask for a guitar with laminated features
1200-1300 dollars for a laminate back and sides. Nooooohhhhh
I'd have kept my Taylor 312....if the low-end had ever opened up. It's like they actually TRY to make sure it's all mid-range and treble.
I tried a used 214ce today and absolutely loved it. Thanks for the videos and answering my question on the live chat.
$625 for Taylor 214e good buy 👍🏽👍🏽
Very nice looking and sounding guitar man! As soon as soon as you hit that open E chord I thought of "Open the Eyes of my heart" from back in the day haha
I’ve had a Taylor 110e for a year. To me, it sounds better than it’s supposed to.
This is exactly why buying new is better than buying used.
I think Taylor necks are the best , but as a company I don't like how the perception is kinda yuppies
Chris McKee's Alamo Music video review sold me on these.
i have always wanted a taylor. love ut channel too expensive for me if i could find one around 1000 used even id buy it but in the middle of nowhere armstrong on canada. i posted a couple vids of my music check out and let me know where i can find a taylor in my price range
Pity about the Taylor pick-ups...?
Here I am, looking for one of these under 700 but everyone is selling them at 1k or more😭
Anyone know what song that is at the 0:28 mark?
Great song. I need to know too
@Jeremy Sheppard - a little help here please?
I love the comment on shape, I basically agree completely.
Great job, Jeremy. Love your videos. To God be the glory.
