      21st century Sunday sermons should NEVER be creepy translations of tacky TV government and corporate propaganda. All of this is as plain as day. Post-WW2 TV "Cold War Christianity" is a losing strategy. Why? Americans don't "watch TV" anymore. We have the data and receipts. Everyday, +20,000 Americans cancel their cable-TV subscriptions. That's +600,000 cancellations per month. Corporate "TV brands" are dying like flies. 63% (and growing) of Americans don't drink any soda. Think about that. Notice how Wholefoods doesn't sell any "TV brand" products? Now you notice. We need focused, bold and agenda-setting churches divorced from the TV state cult. @@michaellautermilch9185

    My brother pointed out that a lot of Calvinists/Presbyterians in our area have a big emphasis on missions as the bridge between the kingdom of light (spirituality, prayer, worship, heart) and the kingdom of darkness (politics, unbelievers, law, parental authority and discipline). This is super sad because there are or at least were so many good Presbyterians throughout history. And Calvin was a great man. But once my brother pointed that out, it was a LIGHTBULB moment for me. So THAT'S why they soooo strongly emphasize missions! Their trust is in evangelism/missions to save people, and not in Jesus Christ himself! They don't realize that sometimes you can do things that are offensive to the world (making abortion punishable by death, banning no-fault divorce, telling your daughter she MAY NOT marry an unbeliever, etc.), and the Lord Jesus can actually USE that to save unbelievers! Just seeing that God's Law is serious and worthy of being obeyed can really hit home to an unbeliever who has never been told "no" or anything about right or wrong. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." This doesn't just mean "show unbelievers how happy Jesus makes you, or how much money you give to homeless people", but it actually means "obey/love God in all areas of life, and this will look like a bright light in the darkness to unbelievers". That's something these so-called Two-Kingdom people just don't get.

      Sorry that the Calvinists in your area don't care about politics at all and only care about missions. But being a Calvinist is believing the five points not what you're specifically seeing in behavior in your neighborhood. In fact most Calvinist really like a Calvinist Pastor named Voddie Baucham and he often goes into politics and a women named Allie Beth Stuckey who doesn't go on missions but addresses culture and politics.

By the way there is a really nice circle of friends in my area who love John Calvin I don't know if we would call ourselves "Calvists" but we love John Calvin and so I know there are solid believers around here too, just not many of us. We keep getting pushed out of those other churches, or at least not finding deep friendships there. :p Btw I like your profile pic and username, haha. @@person6768

    Hi godly brother, could you direct me to a video on Calvinism, "spirit-led living", and putting our "witness" first, even above what is true and life-giving and Biblical and obedient to God? I have had a childhood friend recently tell me they believe the spirit is leading them to witness to a friend by basically accepting his homo/trans lifestyle. He says we can't address any such sin the person first becomes a Christian. My friend is a strong Calvinist and I wondered if this is common among Calvinists, this kind of emphasis on the Spirit OVER the Word as opposed to being led by the Spirit WITH the Word of God. What is happening to the church?? Do you have a video on this topic or would you consider making one? Thanks.

    Wow, Trump does a lot of tongue in cheek when he is speaking about his skills, its funny that Aaron can't understand that.

    • @bobtaylor170
      @bobtaylor170 4 місяці тому +1

      I don't remember that the topic of Trump's "skills" came up. The only significant, salient reference to Trump which I remember was their talking about how unacceptable Trump would have been as a possible President to Evangelicals thirty years ago, while now, it's rare to find an Evangelical who doesn't think it's essentially a matter of life and death for America that Trump be elected in November.
      They were, in short, alluding to the pliability of the standards of American Evangelicals. Why would Trump have been an unthinkable candidate for Evangelicals to vote for thirty years ago? Why is it he's now seen as indispensable by most?
      They didn't quite come out and say it, but they didn't need to: the American Evangelicals of thirty years ago were far different people from those of today. Obviously, much of this is due to the changing of the guard which you get over a generation and a half as millions of people die and their places are taken by millions of others. But I think the main point to be drawn is that this current generation of American Evangelicals is much smaller numerically and much less resolute in theology and in standards than those of thirty years ago. It's not, as they say, a good look for us. And maybe the host and his guest don't quite draw the inferences which I do.
      But I do, indeed, draw them.
      What in Heaven's name, truly, has gone wrong with Evangelicals? When has Trump ever been better than vulgar, sleazy, greedy, dishonest, and narcissistic? I can understand why Evangelicals will vote for him. I'll probably vote for him, or if not him, for Robert Kennedy, whom I could vote for with some pride. I could never be proud of having voted for Trump. It says a great deal, none of it good, about American Evangelicals that they are so enthusiastic in their support of him.

      @@conceptualclarity I doubt Trump cares about anything which isn't of Donald Trump. He's a malignant narcissist/sociopath. He loves being the center of attention, which is far different from loving your country and being willing to sacrifice for it. He's entertaining, amusing, and I'll probably vote for him because the alternative is so much worse. That doesn't mean I'm an enthusiast for him.
      People who are terrified of Trump are rather thick, or maybe they're being disingenuous.
      1. He was President for four years, and I don't remember that the world was more violent, but considerably less, when he was President.
