This movie was very divisive. I personally had a good time, but there's some things that people didn't like it, like Luke being such a downer and considering murder Leia and Han's son. What stand out to me in that regard was more all the trauma he had with Vader so I can understand, but if you don't look at it for the perspective, it's really weird that he considered doing that to his sister's son. I highly recommend you to watch the Pitch Meeting from this movie in the Screen Rant channel, you have a good time with it. I'm very excited for the next reaction, because while this movie was divisive, the next one isn't and if you love or hate The Last Jedi, most people still have the same opinion about Rise of Skywalker... And it isn't good lol.
Wait for Episode 9, which ruins the entire plot. Here, Disney ruined the character of Luke Skywalker. Previous episodes showed that Luke was willing to die to defend his friends, but in this installment, he runs away due to a vision that his nephew will turn to the dark side. Luke is nothing more than a coward, and all his successes are now failures because of a "change in personality." Even Mark Hamill, the actor playing Luke, said, "Maybe he's Jake Skywalker." Sorry, but when the actor portraying Luke says it's not Luke, something is wrong. My conclusion may sound direct, but it's logical: the director didn't understand or feel Star Wars, as evident in the mishandling of the most crucial character. If they can't understand or feel it, they shouldn't be doing it. Plus for the first time, we can say Rey is a Mary Sue. She didn't learn anything, beat Luke, and moved on without facing any real challenges. Some even used the term to erase the entire Resistance because Rey can handle everything herself.
Aside from the obvious marketing angle, the Powgs were created because the island they were filming on had puffins everywhere, and it was easier to digitally change them than to remove them.
This is just a positive comment cause whilst I have a ton of issues with this movie I love your reactions and I'm happy to see you enjoying more Star Wars!!
@@LordCaedus-bl7wi Rey's Theme and Kylo's theme are some of my favorites across the whole series. Also love the Ahch-To theme and the Resistance Theme.
@@ronfehr7899 So you actually think Poe who is one of the leaders of the resistance is gonna let Rey used his map to find Luke without Leia telling him???? The map he fraught for. Which also brings up another question as to why was Rey meeting Luke when Luke doesn't even know her? But Poe do so why didn't he go? This is just one of the inconsistent from TFA to TLJ that Rian Johnson screwed up.
@winston5791 Poe obtaining the map doesn't necessarily qualify him to look for Luke. Leia was in command and, being stronger with the Force, might have sensed that Rey needed Luke more than Poe did, and probably had a better chance of convincing Luke to help.
@@ronfehr7899 There is NO SCENARIO in the world where Leia or the head of any Army is gonna send an scavenger after Luke over their top pilot. That ain't happening dude but my point wasn't about that my point was that Poe and Rey had to have met because I bet it was him who showed her the map. Because IT WAS HIS MAP! One of the leaders and best pilots in the resistance who's mission was to obtain the map and you think NOBODY!!!! Is gonna tell him that Rey is going to meet Luke? No you have to agree that they obviously met in the first move.
Oooo fun fact on the Porgs, because I just got to the part where you met them for the first time, the Porgs were a creative solution to a production issue. The island where they filmed was full of puffins, but they had to starwars them so all the puffins became porgs!
To clear some questions you had: (tried my best not to spoil anything for the next movie) lot of symbolism in this movie and yes these are a reskin of the old movies that´s a reason why people don´t like it. Lea is the daughter of ANIKIN SKYWALKER. more in the next movie The "upside down" hole is a similar place where Luke went on Dagobah. He as well saw himself, just as Vader. best scene in the Movie is with Yoda. Yes, that´s a "burden" a teacher must bear. "turned" on like a light switch :) I feel some shaming on Snoke ... he was born this way .... .... .... the Phasma character got thrown down the garbage shoot twice, in the movie and from the script yes cool visual and a callback to Hoth Luke force projected himself (hinted with the salt). That´s a crazy feet. Took all he had, that´s why he died. "lifting rocks" is easy to say but not to do Luke had difficulty to lift pebbles and said to lifting a X-Wing "impossible" She just did that, with no difficulty at all. AND no training. That "was" crazy. - point of this movie The boy isn´t important to the story till now. He was just symbolism. yes the dice weren´t there further question pls comment :)
This was my favorite of the sequels. There are so many details in this movie that can be easily missed or overlooked. It took me three viewings to catch them all. The main theme of the movie is failure. Poe fails, Kylo fails, Luke fails, Finn fails. But by the end they come around and win the day.
3 time wow explain this : Why Luke give a map to find him, but he here to die...............................why he suicide himself already(do you call ambulance before you want to kill yourself). Why he want to jedi end but keep the book and try to save the book. Why first order not send fighter again the resistance fleet, why some ship not go to light speed pass through the resistance fleet and come back in front of the resistance fleet to destroy them. why put a vegan message with a race who always eat meat, it like trying to convice a lion to eat vegetable is stupid. Why Porg is there, his have no purpose exept to sell toys, don't talk the same for ewoks, ewoks fight again empire to help rebellion. Why Luke don't recognize the light saber of him father. Why Luke is ready to die for her sister, his stepbrother, his friends, his father but for his nephew his almost kill him. Why in space you can survive without a suit ......force lol and survive to a blast from a fighter and explosion first, come on. Why now you don't use auto pilot in ship so Oldo dont have to sacrifice herself.........we can do that with a car and put a brick on the pedal. Why Oldo don't tell her strategy, if she think a spy maybe here sorry but a ex stromtrooper are a good candidate. Why Rose know how the tracker in light speed work but Leia and all the other dosen't know that exist and its a new technology. If a space cruiser can be destroy with another ship in light speed why don't do that at the beginning of the pursuit after transfering people to another ship. You have many plot holes or inconsistencies in this garbage, you have so many plot hole, so the IX need to put bandage of some sort to be more ok and yes Rey are a Mary Sue
@@sha-ad9257Luke didn't leave a map for the others. In Episode 7 Han told Rey and Finn that Luke left years ago to find the first Jedi Temple. They still believe he is where the first Jedi Temple is and that map simply shows where that temple is. It's not meant to specifically show you where Luke Skywalker is.
I'm still heart broken that Carrie fisher died in the production of these reboots. I feel like such a baby lol. At least with Iron Man and Black Widow, they controlled the write-off and made it tear jerking. But they just didn't handle Carrie fishers death right in these films right.
I love this film. If you study film or work in film, you can pick out these beautiful gems of ideas and techniques that Rian sprinkles through. Most people Dont get or appreciate it, but the true film people see exactly what going on and that has sparked more than a few filmmakers imaginations.
I personally really like this movie, but i understand why others don’t! I’m just ready for the discourse to stop being toxic. I don’t understand why it’s so heated, especially 6 years later. I think we just need to accept some people like it and some don’t. Everyone being at each other’s throats makes being a Star Wars fan exhausting
@@grimlord3181 that’s the problem lol. I like it for reasons I will defend. You might not agree but you don’t have to. It’s a movie who cares. If my reasons aren’t sufficient for you to like it, that’s not my problem. I like it for the reasons I do; and I’m not going to change just because you don’t like it.
The main point of discourse is Luke's action. They didn't made sense, the same guy who threw down his lightsaber and refused to fight his Father, because he felt there was still a tiny bit of good in him, is not the same that would think about murdering his nephew IN HIS SLEEP, because he felt a tiny bit of evil in him. If RJ didn't try to rewrite the most important character of the franchise, his movie probably would been receive better.
@@grimlord3181 all I’m saying is that “I want people to stop defending it” probably isn’t the right approach. Telling people they shouldn’t defend a movie they like is like if I told you that you’re not allowed to complain about a movie you don’t like. I just want the discourse to have more respectful, toxic free disagreement. We don’t have to have the same opinions, we just have to respect the other.
I see this, and genuinely dont understand. How can Anakins fall, lukes trench run, i am your father and 'tell your sister you were right' come second to this film 😢
@@Tinman452Empire and TLJ are close!! I just find so much of Rey, Luke and Kylo's character development in this story compelling, coupled with some breathtaking directorial choices like the throne room fight, Crait and Holdo destroying Snoke's ship. Those moments are all iconic, but this film as a cohesive whole slightly wins out for me over the others,
Honestly, I am happy you enjoyed this. I just can't enjoy this no matter how hard I try. The writing of this movie is astoundingly bad. Finn and Luke were ruined, Leia was an incompetent leader who surrounded herself with idiots, Canto Bight arc was terrible, First Order make no sense, etc. etc. TFA was pretty good when it came out. Rogue One was amazing. But this movie forever ruined Disney's reputation with most of the Star Wars Fanbase.
I used to dislike this movie, but 7 years later I have finally watched it again and found that I liked it. Does it have flaws? Sure. But, accepting it for what it is, I think there's a lot to like. I've also found that a lot of my original criticisms of the movie are not entirely fair and were never really that specific. I was 15 when I first watched this and still relatively new to Star Wars. I didn't totally understand the universe because I hadn't seen things like the Clone Wars or Rebels. I was also just young and kids don't always pick up on everything. I think parts of this movie confused me and I wasn't able to make certain connections, and with the hate that I saw this movie was getting, I knew I didn't like it and others didn't so I never went back to check it out because I thought it would be a waste of time. Thus, my opinion was based on what I remembered as a teenage boy.
It's a little different internationally, when you live in Ohio, near Cleveland. I think it's the Cleveland Clinic that's world renown. My dad's traveled internationally, and he's met international people who know exactly where he's from because of Cleveland's hospitals. But I suppose if you don't live in northeast Ohio, or Central Ohio near Columbus with Ohio State, it can feel like no-mans-land.
Glad you had fun. There is a lot of cool stuff in this movie. As an "old" fan of Star Wars that read way too many novels of sometimes great, sometimes dubious, but sometimes brilliant quality, the biggest problems with the new trilogy always felt like it was undoing all the accomplishments of the heroes of the original trilogy. It doesn't seem to build up on the past ,and instead washes it away (if not worse). Han and Leia get together in VI, by VII they are divorced and have an evil son. They fought against the Empire to rebuild a just Republic, and it gets devestated by an Empire with its serial nummers filed off. And movie XIII establishes that really Luke did fail his friends and family and wasn't there for them when they needed him most. And that "Return of the Jedi" at the end of VI - that wasn't really anything lasting. That just never will sit well with me. On some level I understand the problem of the filmmakers here - they wanted to basically reestablish Star Wars with a new set of movies, and of course it makes sense to go back to the beginning and tell a story that's just powerful and is what captured the original fanbase - some nobody getting the call to adventure and rising to the challenge, the underdogs fighting a mighty evil. But it does so at the cost of the original characters. If they had set it a century later or whatever, with all the original characters already dead, they could have told a similar story, putting any failures on the generations coming after them. But they wouldn't have been able to use the characters and original actors, which the filmmakers obviously did not want to do either (and would have disappointed fans as well). And so we got this, and it will probably always remain controversial with the fans.
There were 3 major plot decisions in this film that I really, really didn't like. 1. Luke even considering for a moment that killing HIS NEPHEW in his sleep because he seemed kinda bad was the right thing to do. Just utterly ridiculous for the character Luke is. 2. Snoke being killed so easily and without any explanation of who he was or where he came from. You can't just introduce super powerful, important characters that have no reason for existing. 3. Kylo immediately going back to "let's be bad guys together". These first two films are clearly setting up that there's still something good in him, and this could've been an opportunity to go in a different direction with the story. Instead he's just the new big bad guy.
Just some counter points if you’re interested. Everyone is entitled to their opinions I feel the triumphs of these movies include the last temptation of Luke, who single handedly grabs a laser sword and uses the greatest Jedi mind trick in history for knowledge and protection, to help the last remnants of galactic hope escape the first order. The massive character study of choice vs inaction, of thought vs blind action. Subversion of expectation. The only movie where the best well intentions of the heroes go tragically wrong and they have to learn how to overcome THAT. The last movie with our beloved Princess Leia still alive. Yoda telling us all (I’m in my 40s now) that adventure and heroism is nothing if you don’t also teach and learn from your failures in life.
1. Luke didn't just see Ben turning kinda bad, he saw him destroying everything he loved and fought for, and for a second he thought about it, just like for a couple of seconds he was going to kill Vader in ROTJ. 2. We didn't know anything about Palpatine in the original trilogy, only that he was the Emperor and he was Vader's master, that's all we needed to know, he was killed to further advance the plot and to add layers to the main characters (Luke and Vader). We know that Snoke was the Supreme Leader and he was Kylo's master, he was killed to further advance the plot and to add layers to the main characters (Rey and Kylo). 3. In his mind why would Kylo turn good? What have the Jedi done for him? There's still things he needs to confront as a character for him to turn good, him instantly turning good after killing Snoke would've been weird, like who's the villain in the next movie then?
@@5353Jumperthe kiddie killer death stick? Why would Luke care for his fathers lightsaber? Just because he was redeemed, doesn't mean he would want it....
@createdforthemoment6740 there is a different between not caring about it (as in not taking it in the first place, or just handing it back to Rey) vs being irreverent to it (actively tossing it over your shoulder with a contemptible look on your face). If he did not care about the "Youngling Slayer 3000", then he would have just not taken it from her at all.
Thanks, Emme! 🌠 I love this one so much. I appreciate when STAR WARS is experimental. ෴ And you're so correct on how opinions shouldn't devolve into bullying. As 'Qui-Gon Jinn' taught us, "focus determines your reality". Dwell in the good... focus on what resonates... let the remainder fall away. There will always be plenty of good if that's what we choose.
I like when starters is experimental, but I hate when it actively goes out to break the previously established rules of the universe, like this one does. :p
Luke's plotline is the only thing I like about this movie. That and the obvious (music, call backs to the original trilogy, some of the fight choreography, Laura Dern if not her character).
I love your intro in this... moral of the story: it's a lot easier to get along with people if we just let them enjoy what they enjoy without trying to convince them that they shouldn't. I also appreciate Kylo Ren too. I know that's kind of a hot take or whatever but I think it makes him feel believable that he has this internal conflict with the light side and also that he's kind of an annoying and delusional brat at times.
I am one with mixed feelings about this episode. There are things I loved about it and things I didn’t care for. I didn’t love the humor in this one, and I usually like the comedic lines it usually has but with Poe’s antics I don’t think it worked. Some of my favorite sequel scenes are with the red guards and snoke. I love Rey, Kylo and The Force Awakens so I went into it with high hopes. The least effective for me was Rose and Finn in Casino world. It just was a good chunk of time and they failed. Sure characters can fail but instead of all that time why not have us look at some of the reasons that Luke left. It’s hard to believe that he would give up on his nephew. His guilt in the situation could have led to him making attempts to bring him back and failing. He had hope with Darth Vader who was horrible. Maybe show us his hope leading to despair and eventual self exile. Then we may have brought grumpy old man Luke more. I did appreciate Finn and his confrontation with phasma and would have liked more of them but trim that mission or come up with something better so he could have his personal issues with stormtroopers worked out.
21:23 "That makes sense" -> Really? Luke Skywalker, a guy with a pretty well established light-side character, a guy who - instead of fighting and trying to kill - the most horrible and dark person in the entire galaxy (Darth Vader), went all out to bring him back to the light side. Now he is scared of a dream or vison and goes for a sad disgracing kill? No, that doesn't make any sense, unless you ignore who Luke was and what his character arc meant.
jedi get tempted by dark thoughts - luke tried to kill his father back then too, it was only by chance of getting stopped by the emperor that he had the moment to reflect on where such a dark choice could take him - people are complicated things 😂❤
The thing that makes most of us hate this movie is Luke because he tried to kill Ben just for having a bad dream without thinking twice but he has no problem in redeeming Vader despite everything he’s done, even Mark Hamill himself said that this was out of Luke’s character
The idea has foundation, like to be afraid of that level of darkness and to want to stop it. Face it even with redemption Vader changed the galaxy in ways you can't go back. It just is very odd for him to jump straight to that.
@@AdamPFarnsworthHuh? You know he only sticks around in 7 because he had a crush, right? In this one he actually becomes a rebel. 9 has him back to shouting "Rey," every scene he's in.
For me this movie had this weird vibe that all men are evil assholes or idiotic morons while all female characters are amazing people with no faults. This alone didn’t sit right with me. The rest of the films issues just piled on.
1:33 In Legends, Han and Solo had twins (Jacen and Jaina Solo, Jacen being the original version of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren). Also, just to give you a bit of what Episode VIII *would* have been, before Disney and Kathleen Kennedy got in the way: Episode VIII would have opened with Han's funeral on Corellia (Han's homeworld), with Leia, the other Rebels (minus Luke), and the Resistance in attendance. Then it would have been attacked and Leia would pull out her lightsaber and use the force to shield everyone. All of this was seen in filming, though it was all scrapped in the end. - In Legends, immediately ROTJ, Luke trained Leia to become a Jedi, and she made it all the way to Knight, and kept on being a Jedi for a long time. 12:30 People always underestimate the janitors. There's basically nowhere they don't have access to. 17:01 That's Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher's daughter. 21:47 Notice they went the puppet route instead of prequel CGI Yoda. Also that scene shortly before was Luke re-connecting himself to the Force. That's why Yoda was able to appear to Luke again. 22:36 YUP! Also recognize how the Jedi and Sith both say this, but mean it in different ways. On that note, the Order of the Sith Lords is gone in Disney's timeline. Vader and Sidious were the last Sith. But in Legends, Han and Leia's son (Jacen) adopts the name Darth Caedus, continuing the Order of the Sith Lords. 27:03 It's Benicio Del Toro. You should have seen this coming. 32:42 Even in Legends, the Millennium Falcon was the most wanted ship in the Galaxy. 35:00 First clue that the Luke that showed up wasn't real. The Skywalker Lightsaber was destroyed just before this. 36:30 That force power actually existed in Legends. Force Doppelganger. Except Luke has god-level force power and was able to project himself literal lightyears away for a significant period of time. 37:00 If you didn't notice, this shot parallel's Anakin's march on the Jedi Temple. 37:20 Correct. And Leia realized Luke was an illusion the moment he put the dice in her hands. She realized they weren't really there. 37:52 Actually, there's an Episode X in production right now. 38:10 Did you not notice the kid with the broom use the force to pull the broom to him?
Rian Johnson showed what he could do with a Star Wars movie and one could only imagine if he was given all three and was able to tell a complete three story arc. Honestly, Abrams was awful and while I know this movie was very controversial for Star Wars, it did show how much better Johnson is in story telling.
This movie isn't terrible. But it isn't amazing. It just is. I'm not overly attached to the franchise, so it's just like solid sci-fi to me. It's kind of funny watching Star Wars fans from the outside as a Trekkie myself. The two fandoms feel differently to me. Trekkies will get into heated discussions, but they very rarely seem to devolve into people getting legit upset like Star Wars fans. For better or worse, you gotta love the passion involved. FYI: Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie.
@JB0i it is, as always, a subjective opinion. I will say the same about Andor being the best series. That is not to say the other movies aren't legendary in their own right. I grew up watching them. Could also be my personal politics a little as well. I could relate to the anarchist/anti-fascist characters far more than I could relate to the exploits of Han/Luke/Chewie. It's the emotional connection to Jen/Cassian and others that put those properties over the top for me. I do understand the perspective of the folks who prefer the originals though.
@@citizenbrain8065you just said you’re an outside so that’s why I rogue one and andor can be your favourite. But they’re not really Star Wars. Disney has turned it into a diluted mess and I hope they fucking fail big time
@LordCaedus-bl7wi I'm 40. I saw Star Wars first. I just prefer Trek. I meant outsider in the sense that I don't spend as much time in fan circles as i do in the Trekkie ones, but I'm still in them both. Has nothing to do with the enjoyment of the Rogue/Andor. I have seen them all. Those just happen to be the stories that I connect with, and they both have the same gritty style. I identify with the rebels more in them. They feel more like the insurrectionary anarchists fed up with an oppressive empire and the process of building the resistance, whereas the originals don't feel that way because they drop you into a universe where the roles are already set. Different movies for different times. The other Disney stuff, I can generally do without.
Enjoyed your reaction as usual. You're from Ohio! Me too! Near Akron. I saw this movie opening night at midnight, went into work the next day friends asked how good was the movie? My response was just "I'm not sure."
To this day, I have nothing but hatred for this movie. This movie broke my love for the franchise that I was engaged with for 2 decades. The writing is absolutely nonsensical, and the next movie doesn't improve things.
This is like the show "whose line is it anyway?" Where anything goes and the points don't matter. I tried to write a short comment but ended up ranting for a couple pages, so here's my second attempt. Rey is the biggest Mary Sue I've ever seen. Snoke being a throwaway character was moronic. Finn being a clown is a complete waste of a character. His and Rose's adventure was a waste of screen time, with no change to the outcome of the movie. Luke was written like a fanfic writer, not an actual professional writer. Yoda's line about failure being the best teacher was pretty damn good though. Not even trying because you're afraid to fail means you've already failed. Do your best, learn from the experience, success or failure. Killing off Luke was a bad idea. It should have been Luke vs Snoke and Rey vs Ben in the big fight. If you have to kill off Luke, make it mean something, like taking a blow for Ben and saying he should have been there for him, then Ben and Rey vs a tired Snoke. But set the fight after Rey has had enough time to actually learn how to use the Force. For that matter, give Finn the Force as well, then have Luke train both of them.
When you are done with the Skywalker Saga, how about some reactions to the different Star Wars Documentarys out there. Have not seen any reaction to those.
She’s literally watched EVERYTHING Star Wars in chronological order. She’s finally reached the sequels & particularly this movie. As somebody who’s only gotten into Star Wars in the last 10 years, this movie still makes me tilt my head with confusion over the story choices made here. Also, now I have to worry about fuel?!
@@alexo_pog But neither fuel (or physics) was put in the forefront like in this movie to the point where it makes you ask questions about other space battle/travel situations in Star Wars franchise. I KNOW it’s fantasy (trust me, I know what I’m watching), but this movie interjects real world physics & that just caused unneeded/unnecessary questions to occur. Questions I wasn’t even asking for answers for. I’ve seen 5 Star Wars films in theaters & this, to this day, was the only one where the crowd left with very little mumbling/conversations going. I’ll never forget that. It was weird. Much like this film. But to each their own. #MTFBWY
@@DToomer Fuel is not the problem, i can resolve this battle for first order with ''Star Wars rules '' in 1 second . Fuel problem lol its so a stupid idea
Such a weird movie. The humour feels a bit more MCU goofy than Star wars, which has humour, but usually it’s a bit more dry. The bad guys all go down really easily. Hux, Snoke, Phasma, Kylo. Star Wars usually had dominant villains. No explanation as to who Snoke even was, or at least a good one…cough. Even though it’s a middle trilogy movie (and penultimate saga movie), it’s doesn’t leave much plot momentum going into the final episode. Like how Empire Strikes Back, Infinity War or Two Towers left you so excited as to what would happen next. Finn’s completely pointless side story. He went from a core character to a bit of comedy relief. Apparently the actor was really upset about this because he felt black representation was only used for marketing. That near final scene with the kid pretending to be a Jedi feels like a scene from a very final episode rather than an ending to a movie where non of the main characters have a resolution.
I know that you watched this a long time ago (but I just discovered you!), but I thought I would respond to your inquiry about why they used the word 'turn'--even though you likely won't see this (: I'm (ahem) older, so saw the original movies back when they were released. I remember an interview with George Lucas who talked about the religious language surrounding the Jedi and I think the word choice for turn relates to that. In Christianity, the word 'repent' means to turn again... sort of the idea that turning to dark is the first 'wrong' turn. So to repent is to turn again, back to who you were meant to be. Anywho... love your content!
My main complaint about this episode is that the ending seemed to drag on. There were several times I thought the movie would end, only to have something else occur.
Ah I love sequel trilogy reactions. They aren’t held down by any online opinions so it’s just good fresh initial thoughts on the movies. Good faith reads. There’s so many reactions like this! And it results in the comments being quick to share their own opinions lol
As someone else commented. It is alot of different views on this movie. This was the movie that split the fanbase in two. Like or dislike. I do not care what anyone think of the movie. You like it, good. You dislike it, good. What I care about is that people understand why fans are passionate about star wars. Yes, fans can go to far in their treatment of actors like Jake Lloyd and Ahmed Best, but it is coming from a place of love for the franchise. I need to wait to give my full response to what I think of this movie until after 9, because it is impossible for me to do without giving spoilers.
The scenes of the Island Luke was on were filmed on Skellig Micheal in Ireland. The native bird on that island is the Puffin, that's what they based the Porgs on. I'm glad you enjoyed this movie and I really liked what you said at the beginning of the video about keep the comments civil. Keep up the great work Emme and I wish you and everyone else a Happy New year!
The movie that completely ruined the sequel trilogy as well as multiple ot characters, rise of Palpatine was even worse, force awakens not perfect was a solid start for the new trilogy but this completely ruined it and episode 9 made it even worse the actors where visibly frustrated with it, as well as many Disney executives

i like how emme is so confused of the last 10 minutes of the movie which reminds me how i felt after walkingout of the theater and i think other star wars fans did as well episode 9 is gonna make you more confused too
Chocolate chip cookies would have been considered a rare delicacy, as cocoa beans were rare and found only in the same part of the galaxy as the planet Anakura. Also, Luke did give Leia the dice. Remember that a point was made to see that Kylo Ren's hand was wet with rain from Rey's environment, meaning that the force allows the transfer of certain things, like water or dice.
The water was pulled from their force bond, the dice was an illusion just like luke, thats why Leia stairs at Luke cause she can tell he and the dice are force projections and force projecting that far is very dangerous. and earlier when Kylo Ren and Rey first experience their force bond, kylo says you're not doing this, the effort would kill you. hinting that force projecting very far can kill you and also we see the dice vanish from kylos hand also hinting it was a projection like luke.
I had to sit with this movie after first watch but I must say a came to love this movie. While not perfect, it’s highly underrated and misunderstood. It subverts all expectations, has the goofy Star Wars humor of the OG trilogy, has some great action pieces and really digs into Force lore and what it means to be a hero.
I can understand what Rian Johnson wanted to do with this movie. He clearly wants to subvert expectations. And because Star Wars comes with very lofty expectations, that can be extremely restrictive when you're writing a story. Kylo Ren saying "Let the past die, kill it if you must" is Rian Johnson basically telling the audience to let go of their nostalgic connection to the franchise and any overblown expectations that have sprung from that nostalgia. But Johnson also tells the audience not to expect any meaningful answers to the questions that the previous film set up. No audience wants to be told that the things they've been led to be emotionally invested in are pointless and no resolutions are coming. It makes them feel like they're wasting their time. So yeah, Johnson's approach ended up backfiring on him. The movie pissed off A LOT of people and did A LOT of damage to the brand. When you watch the next one, you'll see just how desperately frantic that movie is to try to fix all the damage that The Last Jedi did.
The last great Star Wars movie we will ever get. Second only to Empire, which i saw in theaters at 9. The original release. After this fandom reaction doomed us to fan service
I mean, we still got one great show after this with Andor but besides that, the entirety of Star Wars has turned into fan service crap that is only there to please the mainstream audience and show them cameos for the sake of it. Look at Anakin's cameo in Ahsoka. Show was trash but as soon as Anakin showed up, people pretended like it was a masterpiece, just because he was on screen. How pathetic.
I felt like Luke’s character was assassinated. It’s one of the worst character assassinations in movie history. Even Mark Hamill hated how Luke was portrayed, I can’t say I blame him.
Mark Hamill (like many fans) had been thinking for 30 years about what he thought would happen to Luke after ROTJ, which is why he was disappointed that it didn't match his head canon. I don't mind the idea of the new Jedi order failing, but I do agree that Luke was written in a very weak way.
watching some videos online we learn that Rey actually died in this imperial guard fight. but via the magic of editing we saved her life! lol. when shes fighting the dual wielding guard she blocks his right hand while his left hand crosses her stomach which would have been a fatal wound. so we see the weapon as it crosses in front of her body but when the hand shows up on the other side of her they just painted the weapon out so it wasnt so obvious she just got her stomach sliced/melted or whatever these things do. i would say the big problem with this trilogy is that it wasnt thought of as a trilogy from the start. they kinda went in with no plan other than having old actors do cameos. the speeder scene seemed pointless as they didnt really do anything. it wasnt even a stall tactic. it was visually cool but that was about it. they added a scene to mock fans where the guy tastes the white power and says its salt.... because a lot of people said episode7 was just a remake of episode4.... which it wasnt it was more like a mix of 4-6 imo because yea was had star killer base which was like the death star in 4 but we flew inside it to blow it up like the death star in episode 6. yea it starts on a desert planet blah blah. so basically in this movie they wanted to be like "no its not snow, no this isnt ripping off Hoth at the start of episode5..... and yet it was because it had no purpose in being there lol. to me i thought this could have been a decent side movie but shouldnt have been part of what was supposed to be a trilogy. they really needed 1 complete grand story to tell over 3 movies instead i feel like we had a decent start a bad middle and without spoiling anything you will see the final movie imo is just scrambling to try and salvage the trilogy. honestly in the same way they added episode 4 to a new hope after the fact i feel disney could go back and in the very least remove this episode from the trilogy and replace it with something more fitting. rename this to be a side quest. though carrie fisher is no longer with us so... i feel like the disney+ shows are trying to do a lot of leg work to make this trilogy make more sense.
According to the people in charge of disney they do not make movies just for entertainment. They make movies to push their ideology, this is what people who made these movies say, actors , directors, CEOs.
For Star Wars, these movies were a double edged sword Disney brought many new fans to the franchise with the shows like Mando but the story and little things are just trash, just watch a Vid what could´ve happened. People hate cause hate comes from Loving smth :) And these could be great movies and they are on the very top of their outer appearance, but not deeper down . sorry if this doesnt make very much sens my english is failing me rn :) Like look at Rogue One, FANTASTIC Movie. they had no idea where to go with their own story and wtf is "I am rey ...." So just saying they ARE good movies, for the normal not die hard fan They are NOT for the franchise Emme said it her self these are "goofy" little brother of the OG´s , like 38:05 this shouldn´t be and people didn´t like the Prequals at first so I am going to watch the new Rey ... film, cause Daisy did a great job with a horrendous script big hopes for the Future, in Dave we trust lets see what the mouse brings us next
Excellent reaction Mark didn’t like this movie. He told the Director not to do this the best not how Luke would act but he shouldn’t die like that but the director said who about what happened before just do it or told us the script and do it sound like emperor Palpatine do it? Thanks for the fun until next time.
Honestly, my two problems with the sequel trilogy are in the first when Han hyperspeeds the Millennium Falcon out of the hanger, and it didn’t do it’s own “Holdover Maneuver” to the hanger; and just the fact that no matter what the Resistance blows up at the end of one movie, at the start of the next they are still the underdogs and the Empire/First Order have millions of more troops and ships and some bigger, worse death machine just materialize and threaten everyone.
@@Caseytifya lot of time passed, and a big ship is not insane jj abrams has more to answer for: - the big ass planetary station of destruction in VII aka Starkiller - the 1000 deathstar-destroyers (and hundreds of thousands of personnel) in IX aka Final Order (😂😂)
@@alexo_pog they ALL have a lot to answer for: the problem is that instead of ONE vision directing the first six movies (even the prequels were still under Lucas’ vision) they had three-plus people with their own visions all vying to appease their corporate overlords from Disney.
I did enjoy these movies but there were also a lot of problems with this trilogy. The biggest problem IMO is that Disney didn't create a story arc from the beginning that any director who took on any of these movies would have to stick to. They either had to do that or use the same director for all three so that it didn't turn into the disjointed mess we got. It also helps to get directors who love the franchise, not bozos like RJ that just want to watch the world burn.
I liked this movie. In my opinion, Luke just barely got away with destroying the first Death Star, he was lucky cause he had basically no Jedi training, and in empire strikes back, Luke got his hand cut off and Vader would have killed him if Vader wanted him dead(so Luke got lucky again) and in return of the Jedi, Vader and the emperor had him dead to rights if it were not for Vader stepping in… so to me Luke was too inexperienced and very lucky… and I think he grew up more and learned just how lucky he got and was then afraid of kylo messing everything up again. And him going into exile I feel would have been a natural reaction to getting older and realizing his mistakes.
Ik I don’t understand all the hate like if you hate it that much stop watching it your just giving Disney more money all these Star Wars fans care about is the f lore or its not realistic likes it’s a f movie💀
I think the sequels get a bad rap, but I’ve gotta say I hate how Rose saved Finn! Finn started out being kind of cowardly and selfish, him sacrificing himself for the Resistance would’ve showed HUGE change in his character. Regardless of that scene too I wish he got more character development, maybe a bit more of his life as a Stormtrooper.
Fin was a waste of a character. It’s quite clear there was supposed to be more to him in the 2nd & third film but they threw it all away. They had zero idea for an over arcing story for all 3 films. Well Abram might of but Ryan threw it all out the window.
They expect us to believe that Luke, who was willing to sacrifice himself to save his father. But, was going to murder his nephew. Worst character assassination in the history of cinema.
If I ever meet RJ in public I don't think I could stop myself from punching him. I blame none of the actors they were great. I do however blame the studio. They should have had a story arc already planned and any director who took on any of these movies would have to paint within those lines so that we didn't get left with the disjointed mess we got.
I do believe it when the murder vision was clearly explained to not be the true version of events and that he in fact took control of his emotions before he did anything (unlike what he did in the throne room in rotj when he flipped and lashed out upon hearing about leia)
I know right? Having fleshed out characters with actual nuance and not just A to B characterization, especially after decades, is such a bad, unheard of concept. We need basic, flat stories!
@@chefkochkawasaki4127 Finally, someone with a brain. And they glaze over the fact he literally doesn't even act, it's instinctual, and he recovers near instantly. Luke is, and was never, perfect.
I don't think is controversial that the younger generation tends to like the sequel trilogy. It was made for the younger generation (GenZ, younger millenials). Older folks like me favor the original Lucas produced movies that we grew up with and Disney deviated from his vision greatly so that is mainly why we give the sequel trilogy poor ratings.
That's not the complete picture though. I'm Gen Z, late Gen Z, I was the exact target age, give or take maybe a year. I was a young, impressionable kid when TFA came out, and while I liked it at the time, myself and plenty of others hated the films as we got older, even before episode 9 came out. (And boy did that seal the deal) Obviously, some still do, mainly TFA, but I've actually found most TLJ fans to be Millenials or Gen X. I don't think it can just be chalked up to a generational thing
Younger millennials tend to skew more to the Prequel Trilogy (and OT of course). The disney sequels came out when most of us were in our 20s. The prequels were our childhood.
Saved the galaxy with the most impressive Jedi mind tricked performed by a light side user that we’ve ever seen and used power for knowledge and protection to save the spark
Whether you like it or not, there is no denying that this is the film that divided the fanbase. JJ Abrams had set up so much (while also borrowing so much), then Rian Johnson came in, ignored everything Abrams set up, and did his own thing while pandering to a minority of fans (if even they were fans) and calling the rest of the fanbase racist or sexist for not liking his film. All that being said, there are a few things I still like about the film: •The "your mama" joke •The Porgs •When Rey literally reaches out and Luke tickles her before hitting her with a leaf. •Yoda appearing to Luke (especially the same Yoda from the Original Trilogy) •Luke brushing off the walker's blaster fire. •How Luke died (not that he was killed off, but him becoming one with the force while staring at a binary sunset)
well, for me he elevated the stakes and the story which could have been wrapped up in an amazing, original last movie had that version (duel of the fates or whatever) been made but jj abrams came back and made an abomination that had 14yo me scratching my head and cringing
@@Spaxer I didn't say that the "fans" disliked the film solely because of Kelly Marie Tran (who I separate from the character she played), but the overall portrayal of the female vs male characters was bad.
@@alexo_pog JJ Abrams came back and tried to please everyone, both those "fans" who liked Last Jedi and the rest of the fandom that Darth Kennedy the Woke and her apprentice Darth Rian alienated (no pun intended)
I love Rey from the beginning. She's beautiful, and after Ahsoka, I got a new female Jedi, which I've been missing a lot. Anyway, I like female protagonists and heroes.
I will be honest when I watched it in theatres I didn’t like The Last Jedi. I thought the heroes lost way too much in it. But to be fair I did think the same way when I first watched episode 5 “the emperor strikes back”. But after some time apart I started to appreciate it more. I think Johnson had a difficult task since the end of the force awakens set up Luke to have left in presumably bad terms which Johnson used to explain Luke rejecting the Jedi (or at least the old Jedi way) I find it ironic after the prequels people were screaming about corrupt the Jedi were but when Luke says it in the “Last Jedi” people are like “how could like say that?” Or “how could puke give up”? I mean when the truth that the people you looked up to we’re not as great as you were lead to believe wouldn’t you lose at least some faith?
I think what most people had a problem with concerning Luke in this movie was the complete inconsistency of his character. He is not even close to the person we knew in 4,5 and 6. Maybe after learning about the truth of the Jedi I can live with him not wanting to be a Jedi anymore. But to give up on his friends and family and want to kill his own nephew? That is just too much to reconcile with the person we met in 4,5 and 6 and there isn't a reasonable explanation to go with it. His fundamental character trait was his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends (and this is despite their actions and flaws). Honestly it was JJ that started the mess and then Rian followed through with it.
Someone made a really well researched analysis about this sequel trilogy. It's here on UA-cam in two parts, each about an hour, and it's called Star Wars Apocrypha Parts 1 & 2. Links here: ua-cam.com/video/ws85gYk1ypM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/MbL_XWs05Sg/v-deo.html The main thing to get from it is that it has a good explanation of why the storyline in these movies is confused and inconsistent, and shows some evidence that leads to this conclusion. In short, it seems to be because of J.J. Abrams' highest value in storytelling. If you saw Abrams' series Lost, you will have seen this. He gave a TED Talk on his concept that he uses for everything called "The Mystery Box". It's basically to keep teasing an audience with some mysterious unknown thing just a little out of reach that they haven't figured out, and if possible to just keep that going forever. Some hints and story threads were laid down in episode 7, but then why were they just abandoned or left to be dead ends? There was so much speculation from fans, that some of the guesses were apparently correct. This would infuriate J.J. Abrams, who would willingly change the story midstream just to prove to the fans that their guesses weren't correct after all, and it was this other weird thing no one expected, and the surprise moment was intact, even if it didn't make sense.
It’s without a doubt this one was different, but still enjoyable for me! My full length reaction can be found on patreon! patreon.com/emmereacts
Its fun, but not a great movie. Thr next one is a massive disservice to the franchise...
You should see Rian Johnson's next movie KNIVES OUT! Not your typical mystery movie
Wait for Episode 9, which ruins the entire plot.
Here, Disney ruined the character of Luke Skywalker. Previous episodes showed that Luke was willing to die to defend his friends, but in this installment, he runs away due to a vision that his nephew will turn to the dark side. Luke is nothing more than a coward, and all his successes are now failures because of a "change in personality."
Even Mark Hamill, the actor playing Luke, said, "Maybe he's Jake Skywalker." Sorry, but when the actor portraying Luke says it's not Luke, something is wrong.
@hehu4025 Omg your headcanon not being met doesn't make a movie bad. The finale is still goodn
The young Rebel Woman, blonde hair, in braids, on the last ship off the base, and several scenes, is the daughter of Carrie Fisher.

It's funny when you say Poe and Rey didn't meet when at the end of TFA they were literally standing next to each other in the same room Lol.
But they never spoke to each other then, so in a way they never really met
To clear some questions you had: (tried my best not to spoil anything for the next movie)
lot of symbolism in this movie and yes these are a reskin of the old movies that´s a reason why people don´t like it.
Lea is the daughter of ANIKIN SKYWALKER. more in the next movie
The "upside down" hole is a similar place where Luke went on Dagobah. He as well saw himself, just as Vader.
best scene in the Movie is with Yoda. Yes, that´s a "burden" a teacher must bear.
"turned" on like a light switch :)
I feel some shaming on Snoke ... he was born this way .... .... ....
the Phasma character got thrown down the garbage shoot twice, in the movie and from the script
yes cool visual and a callback to Hoth
Luke force projected himself (hinted with the salt). That´s a crazy feet. Took all he had, that´s why he died.
"lifting rocks" is easy to say but not to do
Luke had difficulty to lift pebbles and said to lifting a X-Wing "impossible"
She just did that, with no difficulty at all. AND no training. That "was" crazy. - point of this movie
The boy isn´t important to the story till now. He was just symbolism.
yes the dice weren´t there
further question pls comment :)
Funfact: Snoke was motion captured by Andy Serkis, the same actor who played Kino Loy in the Narkina 5 prison arc in Andor
This was my favorite of the sequels. There are so many details in this movie that can be easily missed or overlooked. It took me three viewings to catch them all.
The main theme of the movie is failure. Poe fails, Kylo fails, Luke fails, Finn fails. But by the end they come around and win the day.
3 time wow explain this :
Why Luke give a map to find him, but he here to die...............................why he suicide himself already(do you call ambulance before you want to kill yourself).
You have many plot holes or inconsistencies in this garbage, you have so many plot hole, so the IX need to put bandage of some sort to be more ok

The main point of discourse is Luke's action. TFA was pretty good when it came out. Rogue One was amazing. But this movie forever ruined Disney's reputation with most of the Star Wars Fanbase.
I thought rogue one was kind of boring but that's my opinion

I love The Last Jedi so much
I have a dark sense of humour so when Chewiie was roasting a Porg while the others looked on in horror, I laughed my ass off in the cinema
Everyone is entitled to their opinions
I feel the triumphs of these movies include the last temptation of Luke, who single handedly grabs a laser sword and uses the greatest Jedi mind trick in history for knowledge and protection, to help the last remnants of galactic hope escape the first order.
Luke tossing the Saber over his shoulder instead of just handing it back to her or not even taking it from her at all.
@@kierano8390Which established rules were broken? 🤔
It’s just an opinion man it makes sense to her let it go!
jedi get tempted by dark thoughts - luke tried to kill his father back then too, it was only by chance of getting stopped by the emperor that he had the moment to reflect on where such a dark choice could take him - people are complicated things 😂❤
This is the film where they deconstructed Luke and turned him into a complete ahole and a person he never was.
I think it's more the terrible, wasted storyline for Finn
"Most of us." Internet echo chambers really do churn out deluded people, don't they?
@@AdamPFarnsworthHuh? You know he only sticks around in 7 because he had a crush, right? In this one he actually becomes a rebel. 9 has him back to shouting "Rey," every scene he's in.
Oh there's more than just one thing. That's just the biggest
Also, just to give you a bit of what Episode VIII *would* have been, before Disney and Kathleen Kennedy got in the way:
Episode VIII would have opened with Han's funeral on Corellia (Han's homeworld), with Leia, the other Rebels (minus Luke), and the Resistance in attendance.
I doubt you caught it, but the kid at the end actually used the force to call the broom to himself.
Another in the list of scenes making me want a Rebels-style NJO series set after these movies 😢
Broom boy 🤣🤣 fuck me this movie was cancer
This movie isn't terrible. But it isn't amazing. It just is. I'm not overly attached to the franchise, so it's just like solid sci-fi to me.
It's kind of funny watching Star Wars fans from the outside as a Trekkie myself. The two fandoms feel differently to me. Trekkies will get into heated discussions, but they very rarely seem to devolve into people getting legit upset like Star Wars fans. For better or worse, you gotta love the passion involved.
FYI: Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie.
Ok, rogue one is great, but the best is a stretch. It’s not above masterpieces like Return of the Jedi, Empire Strikes Back, or Revenge of the Sith.
@@JB0irogue one is good but the characters aren’t great although I liked cassian.
Poe was like "Imma sacrifice myself 😌"
And rose was like "the fuck you ain't"
*Finn.
Would've been a pointless sacrifice because he wouldn't have destroyed the weapon.
This one has seriously grown on me. Everything with Rey and Kylo is really good. Other than the casino side mission, I like the story

Love your attitude and defense of others opinions. Well spoken.
If you like penguins, google some Puffins, which actually look a lot more like the birds on Luke's island in this one. I love puffins!
one of my favorites!
This was one of the most disrespectful moments in cinema history
HOORAY THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME

She’s literally watched EVERYTHING Star Wars in chronological order. She’s finally reached the sequels & particularly this movie. As somebody who’s only gotten into Star Wars in the last 10 years, this movie still makes me tilt my head with confusion over the story choices made here.
Also, now I have to worry about fuel?!
fuel literally appeared before in star wars, nothing new and a valid issue against a huge enemy ship

Thanks for your reaction.❤
I personally like this movie a lot. But if other hate or dislike it, it's ok to me.

Also only rey and Kylo can transfer items between each other cause of their force bond not Luke.
Lord Snoke was a failed clone of the emperor
The middle episodes of each trilogy were always darker than the others.
I don't think that Episode 2 is darker than Episode 3.
This is my favorite Star Wars movie ever
IMO I have no problem with Luke being humbled, but the issue was how poorly it was written.
Actually look up the footage and find out exactly what Hamiil said before you misrepresent his feelings.

watching some videos online we learn that Rey actually died in this imperial guard fight. but via the magic of editing we saved her life! lol. when shes fighting the dual wielding guard she blocks his right hand while his left hand crosses her stomach which would have been a fatal wound. so we see the weapon as it crosses in front of her body but when the hand shows up on the other side of her they just painted the weapon out so it wasnt so obvious she just got her stomach sliced/melted or whatever these things do.
i would say the big problem with this trilogy is that it wasnt thought of as a trilogy from the start. they kinda went in with no plan other than having old actors do cameos.
the speeder scene seemed pointless as they didnt really do anything. it wasnt even a stall tactic. it was visually cool but that was about it. they added a scene to mock fans where the guy tastes the white power and says its salt.... because a lot of people said episode7 was just a remake of episode4.... which it wasnt it was more like a mix of 4-6 imo because yea was had star killer base which was like the death star in 4 but we flew inside it to blow it up like the death star in episode 6. yea it starts on a desert planet blah blah. so basically in this movie they wanted to be like "no its not snow, no this isnt ripping off Hoth at the start of episode5..... and yet it was because it had no purpose in being there lol.
to me i thought this could have been a decent side movie but shouldnt have been part of what was supposed to be a trilogy. they really needed 1 complete grand story to tell over 3 movies instead i feel like we had a decent start a bad middle and without spoiling anything you will see the final movie imo is just scrambling to try and salvage the trilogy. honestly in the same way they added episode 4 to a new hope after the fact i feel disney could go back and in the very least remove this episode from the trilogy and replace it with something more fitting. rename this to be a side quest. though carrie fisher is no longer with us so...
i feel like the disney+ shows are trying to do a lot of leg work to make this trilogy make more sense.
This is a controversial movie. There are some great scenes
According to the people in charge of disney they do not make movies just for entertainment. They make movies to push their ideology, this is what people who made these movies say, actors , directors, CEOs.
For Star Wars, these movies were a double edged sword
Disney brought many new fans to the franchise with the shows like Mando
but the story and little things are just trash, just watch a Vid what could´ve happened.

This would have been better as a stand alone movie with non canonical characters or an animated movie.
Yeah, that always bothered me. Where did the Empire remnants get the resources to build all this crap?
Rian Johnson has a lot to answer for.
@@Caseytifya lot of time passed, and a big ship is not insane
jj abrams has more to answer for:
- the big ass planetary station of destruction in VII aka Starkiller
- the 1000 deathstar-destroyers (and hundreds of thousands of personnel) in IX aka Final Order (😂😂)
@@alexo_pog they ALL have a lot to answer for: the problem is that instead of ONE vision directing the first six movies (even the prequels were still under Lucas’ vision) they had three-plus people with their own visions all vying to appease their corporate overlords from Disney.
The First Order destroyed The New Republic government in TFA when they fired the death star 3 and there's a lot of money in evil, lol.
I thought it was the weakest but still enjoyable. The Poe being an a-hole was odd.
Agreed. Worst part if the movie.
His "sacrifice" wouldn't have worked. Listen to the dialogue ffs.
Fin was a waste of a character. It’s quite clear there was supposed to be more to him in the 2nd & third film but they threw it all away. They had zero idea for an over arcing story for all 3 films. Well Abram might of but Ryan threw it all out the window.
@@darthmaul13 *might HAVE.
And funny enough, this is the only film in the trilogy where Finn has a story
@@xDarthSTYXxThen what were they doing out there to begin with?
They expect us to believe that Luke, who was willing to sacrifice himself to save his father. But, was going to murder his nephew. Worst character assassination in the history of cinema.
If I ever meet RJ in public I don't think I could stop myself from punching him. I blame none of the actors they were great. I do however blame the studio. They should have had a story arc already planned and any director who took on any of these movies would have to paint within those lines so that we didn't get left with the disjointed mess we got.
He never intended to kill, he panicked out of fear. Just like in Ep. VI when he almost kills Vader after he mentions Leia
Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney because he didn't want to listen to the immature and toxic fandom, grown Ass people that gets angry at a child movie.
@@gamer-px5cuHe never said that, and I don’t think that’s the reason he sold, at least the primary reason
@@officialmonarchmusic I swear the star wars fandom is the definition of delusion.
I love the Porgs
Poor Luke - he "forced" too hard...

This movie is polarizing, which means theres a 50/50 shot you'll really like it. Episode IX isn't polarizing, people don't like it.
Movies are not only made for entertainment; some are made for propaganda purposes.
All that being said, there are a few things I still like about the film:
•The "your mama" joke
•The Porgs
•When Rey literally reaches out and Luke tickles her before hitting her with a leaf.
•Yoda appearing to Luke (especially the same Yoda from the Original Trilogy)
•Luke brushing off the walker's blaster fire.
•How Luke died (not that he was killed off, but him becoming one with the force while staring at a binary sunset)
well, for me he elevated the stakes and the story
which could have been wrapped up in an amazing, original last movie had that version (duel of the fates or whatever) been made
but jj abrams came back and made an abomination that had 14yo me scratching my head and cringing
@@Spaxer I didn't say that the "fans" disliked the film solely because of Kelly Marie Tran (who I separate from the character she played), but the overall portrayal of the female vs male characters was bad.
@@alexo_pog JJ Abrams came back and tried to please everyone, both those "fans" who liked Last Jedi and the rest of the fandom that Darth Kennedy the Woke and her apprentice Darth Rian alienated (no pun intended)

this was the last star wars movie i saw🤮, they did luke dirty and didn't care about the next one
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch maulers review of this movie. It is hilarious.
Actually I think there's a lot of people that did not like Rey from the beginning
I think Johnson had a difficult task since the end of the force awakens set up Luke to have left in presumably bad terms which Johnson used to explain Luke rejecting the Jedi (or at least the old Jedi way)
I find it ironic after the prequels people were screaming about corrupt the Jedi were but when Luke says it in the “Last Jedi” people are like “how could like say that?” Or “how could puke give up”?
Links here:

The main thing to get from it is that it has a good explanation of why the storyline in these movies is confused and inconsistent, and shows some evidence that leads to this conclusion.
I hate everything about the sequels. My only hope is one day the sequels gets officially retconned.
I love Luke so much in this, might be my favorite SW movie
Probably best of the sequels. Expect for Finns storyline.
