I wish I could find classes like this near me. We have a few trainers nearby, none with conformation experience. I'm doing a lot on my own, so these videos are extremely helpful.
Great information- especially correcting the dog holding its head down.

Hi, Enjoyed your class to help me get started preparing myself and my Irish Wolfhound for our first show in a couple of months. We were going to do an "in person" Conformation Handling Class here locally in Oregon but none of them have been rescheduled to start again since the whole Covid 19 restrictions have been in place for nearly a year now. At least your videos help me see other new handlers get advise and help with some of the same problems I am sure we will be having. ;) Thanks!

Hi Phil! It’s called a gaiter as in “tailgater” after a cooling device people would wear especially in the south while tailgating at college football games. Now that you and Amy live in Florida, you need to learn how to say “Go Gators!”
I was late for class but had fun watching as always!
Mask Mahalo!! I personally prefer the gaiter. Pressure on the nose and neck can be removed simply by lifting the gaiter from the back of the neck area to the back of your head. Thanks again for the wonderful video!!

I enjoyed your handling class especially teaching to keep the dogs head up. I have a young GSP who likes to put her head down and grinds her teeth when on a show leash. I like the same mask you like Amy it looks a lot more comfortable.

Great video, was great to watch with Amy’s description. Good info on Phil’s mask and glasses fogging or not. I’ve been wearing my glasses to protect eyes, instead of contacts and mask fogging the glasses has made me crazy!

I’d love to see more on keeping a dog’s head up! Mine isn’t sniffing but still doesn’t hold hers up. And it is so amazing to see the difference with the same dog when y’all handle-there’s a reason why we are happy to pay you to present our dogs! Thanks again!

I literally just got hit by the thought that you can soak any mask in ice cold water before entering the ring.... I don't know how breathable that might be, but might actually help those of us who have the hot air go right to our heads in summer dog shows keep cool!

Where can u buy a 28 inch lead collar. I can’t wait to get into these classes.
Do you have any videos on puppy 4-6 mo composition training. I'm very new to this but wanted learn how to show my golden retriever puppy.

Could anyone recommend where to buy the dog collar for large breeds ?
I have a question about lifting the head. Once on a show lead, how do you train the dog? I've spoken to many handlers over the years and very often they told me the dog has to learn 'if he wants to breathe, he has to lift his head'. If he lowers his head the leash will be so tight they can't breathe. Is there is more friendly way to train them?
It should be more of a correction for putting their head down and then release the pressure. Not holding it so tight they can’t breathe.

Pulling up on the dogs neck will only engage opposition reflex which will be counter productive to head up. Why not teach the dog to walk with a head up by shaping and using a target??
