I feel privileged to see this performance of Gary Graffman playing this left-hand concerto. What a wondrous concerto and what a fantastic performance. This concerto is up there with the 3rd Piano Concerto and it is a shame that there aren't many willing to take it on.
The orchestra really sings... The forte in de second movement is just magic... I've never heard the piano burst with such force... Wonderful The trumpet in the opening of the 3rd movement... Oh my god, the man must be repenting to this day xD
WRITTEN FOR JUST LEFT HANDED PIANISTS,,,,PROKOFIEV,RAVEL AND OTHERS WROTE CONCERTOS FOR RETURNING WAR VETS WHO HAD THEIR RIGHT ARM INJURED BADLY OR REMOVED,SO THEY HAD MUSIC TO PLAY LEFT HAND ALONE

MIC PLACEMENT HELPED TOO I THINK....
What a left hand...
Graffman plays the sixthlast bar 2 times, that's why. Could happen to everyone. Great playing. Very tight rhythm
Vivace !!!!!!!!!!
vladimir horowitz voted for you gary graffman
😮
Think the orchestra gets behind at the end:- after 24:05 Graffman plays his final chord and the Orchestra are all ready to play - but don't!
HE WAS OFF ALOT,,,HITTING ALL KINDS OF WRONG KEYS THAT FINAL RUSH TO THE END......
I only know the right hand.
Frodo Raskolnikov haha. Sure you can turn the page?
🤣🤣
Spivakov conducts like an instrumentalist - cannot prepare and anticipate, too late, too late.
idoisymcratic performance --like hi teacher of which he was one of a select few pupils Vladimir Horowitz.
20:33
Too bad about that ending though. Otherwise nice.
I do not undertand it too.
Complete breakdown?
Незабвенная Анна Чехова-никто никогда так больше не объявит
Ведущая Анна Чехова
Das ging am Schluß wohl daneben.
Aber troztdem toll.
Gary didn't have much fun either...
Why he keeps playing with one hand?

@@andywalmart it was commissioned by Paul Wittgenstein (brother of Ludwig) after he lost his right arm in WW1
