That is no joke. One of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life to date. A young black man knocked on my front door and asked for a ride to his aunt's house about 10 or so miles away. When I asked why, he said his brother who was only 14 had gotten a gun and was threatening everyone in his house with it. Needless to say I drove little dude to his aunt's house. It's a shame the violence that happens in the black community. This was a totally normal occurrence where I lived at the time.

That's just NONSENSE!Multi-generational white racism abuses are the center core of Black people's problems. That's what led to the Black crime problem! Black crime is a secondary issue resulting from multiple generations race discrimination keeping Black Americans down!

I was fortunate to have a father who I looked up to and also served the community. I also had other adults who made sure that I was on the right path. My friends were mixed from street types to students. Life is full of different people and you have to negotiate yourself through the jungle. You have to know yourself and make sure you have only good in your heart and what you want you are prepared to work hard for. That is what my father showed me. Racism is part of growing up because there is a two tier system but most people will see you for what you are and give you a chance. You are right that some of us have a chip on our shoulders but it's backed up by racism. It's Ying and Yang sometimes. Your best friend can become your worst enemy. My father taught me that. Peace

People who do well are usually glad to take personal responsibility for having done well, and will quickly advise "do what I did."
We have to get people who are not doing well to acknowledge their own responsibility in their situation as well and sound sufficient warning: "Don't do what I did." That was the concept of "public repentance." But society at all levels today runs from personal accountability. Nobody wants to admit, "It was probably me" when it comes to accounting for a fault.

Back in the 50s, and early 60s, black families were doing OK.
Yes, the country had far more racial tension then.
    But, families were doing OK.
The problems that I've seen break that down were the heroin in the 60s, which I wasn't alive for, thankfully, the creation of welfare programs, the invention of crack in the 80s, and the promotion of gangster rap in the 80s, and early 90s.
None of those things did any good for black people.
I'd love to hear ODBs take on this, but he was taken far too soon.

It maters not what ethnic group you investigate children will pick a mentor / a role model, if they don't have a strong family they will find one elsewhere, be they gangsters, gangster rapers, or gangs. When children learn from the streets it's more often the negative and or criminal things they learn... The family should be the child's primary teachers and role models, but society plays a role. Even if you have a strong family; if society as a whole is corrupt, or the child hangs out with manly criminal, druggies, gangs, the child will most likely follow that same path... The best thing to teach a child is it's their choice whether or not to succeed or fail. While it's true people will try to keep you down, there are those who will intentionally put road blocks in your way, but there is always a way around road blocks and many road blocks can be torn down so don't let them stop you. You don't have to accept failure. Also teach them you can not always have what you want, you may not have the aptitude for some careers, or the career may not be available when you're ready for it, you often have to move where it's available or find something else until it become available. Regardless your success or failure is your responsibility no one else's...

As Mr. Jojo points out, fathers present in the home is very important, but not always possible. That's when the mom has to step up. Look at Ben Carson, a world-renown pediatric neurosurgeon. Dr. Carson and his brother were raised by a single mom in a poor area of Chicago. Every night, she made them do homework, which she "checked". Why did I put "checked" in quotes? Because, as Dr. Carson did not realize until he was older, she was illiterate. But, she made a show of looking over her boys' homework to instill in them the value of education. Dr. Carson's brother is a lawyer.

When people say the system is against them, i genuinely believe they dont understand how the system actually works. Alot of complaints will stem from where they live, the location, the housing, the jobs there, etc, but they can move and change their lives, as well as their childrens lives. Putting God first and giving it all to him will solve problems, when earnestly done. The power for people to change their lives is wholly in their hands in the United States, and there are always opportunities, if people will just go for it.

Your right to protest ends where your neighbors' private property begins. The problem is that these rioters violating the rights of their neighbors by destroying property. Property damage is theft. You do not have the right to intentionality cause your neighbor monetary damage.

We have numerous issues, it's not about black or white. Every race has known hardship, skin color doesn't matter, respect our differences yes, but do not make it your whole identity. What matters most is your character, not your skin color, not your political ideology, not your religion, it's about who you are as a person. Two people can have two different ideologies, or religions, or skin colors, and they can be friends, they can laugh together, cry together, experience joy together. We are all human, first and foremost, anything else comes after.

You know Charter Schools can definitely help for a great many young people who don't have Father's in the home. These schools are often able to have mentors or to do mentoring. I too believe God is the most important. I "identify as" a Christian above all else. My Mother told me"God doesn't care about anyones color, He cares about our heart Lora May"

Regarding race, why not focus on the color of your blood instead of the color of your skin (who cares whether a body produces more or less melanin)?
Black Americans can achieve whatever they want provided they stop allowing the left to victimize them, destroy their self-confidence and self-esteem and keeping them down.

Cover the actual victims at home versus the victim mentality and then look at our inmate population both male and female those statistics of the abused children and households in prison are scary it's like 97 per-cent of the population last I checked was victimized in their home

Denzel is an amazing actor, and like my other favorite Black actor, Sidney Poitier, he exudes class. Check out (the movie) In The Heat of the Night, and To Sir, With Love. In the Heat of the Night was made when racism was the "in your face" variety. It has "the slap heard around the world". Poitier was very conflicted about that scene as he was not a violent person. I hear people say that no progress has been made with respect to racism. I disagree. A lot of progress has been made. We aren't done, there's a lot further yet to go, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.
You should be very proud of yourself for your attitude and work ethic! I have great respect for good people like you!

Morgan Freeman Schools Mike Wallace on Racism and Common Sense December 19, 2005
Mike Wallace: Black History Month, you find...
    Morgan Freeman: Ridiculous.
    Mike Wallace: Why?
Morgan Freeman: You`re going to relegate my history to a month?
    Mike Wallace: Come on.
Morgan Freeman: What do you do with yours? Which month is White History Month? Come on, tell me.
    Mike Wallace: I`m Jewish.
Morgan Freeman: OK. Which month is Jewish History Month?
    Mike Wallace: There isn't one.
Morgan Freeman: Why not? Do you want one?
    Mike Wallace: No, no.
Morgan Freeman: I don`t either. I don`t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history.
Mike Wallace: How are we going to get rid of racism until...?
Morgan Freeman: Stop talking about it. I`m going to stop calling you a white man. And I`m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You`re not going to say, "I know this white guy named Mike Wallace." Hear what I`m saying?

We need to all agree on certain, basic rules of racial harmony. It only works if everybody is treated equally. If this is true then any inequality, regardless of its origin, is racist. That would make the following concepts racist:
Reparations...implies a victim mentality and an unequal status between the races
Segregation...regardless of who's idea it is, it's based on inequality
Voter ID....colored people are every bit as able to secure ID as anyone else....they're not children
CRT....teaches that the content of your character is irrelevant....skin color is all that matters
Affirmative Action...if we're all equal, then merit should be the ONLY deciding factor
If you find yourself championing any of these causes, you're a racist. Chances are, you're also a liberal, whose delusions make their racism appear to be noble and just. Nothing could be further from the truth. Liberal racism may be more subtle than the KKK, but it's racism just the same.

There is no race problem. Anyone can be anything they work their way into. Color is not an issue. Some people make money off all this, even use it to get elected. So this topic stays alive, when in real truth it was dead long ago.

It's possible you mean well! Nevertheless, you are clearly DELUSIONAL! It does no good to just PRETEND that white racism abuses are nonexistent! For better or worse, genuine white racism abuses are STILL a very serious problem. Perhaps YOU have been fooled by the highly COVERT form of American white racism today. You need to look carefully at the fact patterns and events of actual documented race cases.
