I think that a good plus for exploratory romp is that the run can be anywhere and archives is not heavily iced versus shaper. The run can just cost 1 credit.
No offense intended, by the way. I am an economist, so I tend to see economic self interest everywhere. I do love your videos, especially the game commentary. Thanks for all the great Netrunner content.
***** Criminal for sure. I am a neoclassical economist. As a professor, the fact that The Professor is measurably the worst runner strikes me as apt social commentary.
Regarding Feedback Filter 27:20, its ability to prevent a permanent condition gives it some points in my book. As pointed out Public Sympathy is a way to "manage" brain damage. Sometimes "prevent" is better. Also you can pay to install Feedback Filter with Personal Workshop, something you can't do with Public Sympathy.
Could we possibly see a Netrunner Tutorial at somepoint in the future? I noticed you guys did one for Star Wars LCG which helped alot of people understand the game and I'm sure a tutorial for Netrunner would help new players (like myself) learn and enjoy the game alot more. :)
This is very exciting and frightening all at once. So many fun, little goodies to try out in conjunction with everything that's out there, the combos and the answers to strategies will be extremely exciting to see unfold. But it makes me wonder if things will become too chaotic, too random? Seems like there's almost too many possibilities and the meta may soon become a Hodge Podge of endless ideas. Actually that might be a good thing.
Awesome video as usual. With regards to Monolith - it is 18 cost. you get -12 towards 3 programs, so you are more like spending 6. But you also get to install those programs without spending clicks, so (assuming max benefit) you are spending 3 for 3 MU + the ability to protect from brain & net damage. Which is fantastic. But it is extremely situational.
However, Exploratory Romp only works to remove tokens from a card in the server you ran on, so unless they have something advanced on Archives, running there doesn't help you.
FFG Made a great Intro/ Tutorial on the basics on their page - look up 'FFG Netrunner'; Im sure TC would also do a bangup job making one with some more explanations
Really?! Why the hate?! I've missed that... it's still a broken card to run in Criminals though, you just pump it to 4 and use Datasuckers. With the power turn Andromeda can make and with Doppelganger I don't see that much of an issue there.
I've missed that only matched strenght could be worked with Atman. Still a ridiculous card to put in Criminals. It's still able to splash Datasuckers and Doppelganger to just break everything in the way. With the power-turn Andromeda can make, Criminals will have plenty of bits to work out one or two Atmans along with a Femme. Time will tell... just wait to see how much this card will be exploited!
Also a year later, Steven was wrong about splashing for corroder every time instead of playing inti. Many decks run inti strictly to unlock wraparound and otherwise don't really have a need for a fracter.
Maybe it's just your meta (or mine), but I've literally never seen that happen. Sure, "every time" isn't strictly correct (it's hyperbole) but I think corroder is easily the most ubiquitous icebreaker in the game.
Shaper decks based around Atman or parasite recursion (or both) don't have much need to spend influence on corroder. Maybe those decks aren't in your meta.
They are certainly there, although I haven't been seeing much of Atman lately, and the parasite recursion I've been playing against is usually Anarch, in which case it's simpler for them to just play corroder. I still like to run a single Swordsman just in case, though ;)
I have one, but good one question. Is it possible to make two fun decks out of this expansion?(two of my friends like to play from time to time but not in turnaments)
Question. Would it be at all possible to be directed to one of your videos where someone is playing The Professor for his/her runner? I really want to see it in play.
And Atman is just broken... You don't need Datasuckers or Ice Carvers, you just need Andromeda and boost your 1st turn economy to 12 and just play Atman at St.9 and then break everything and have a nice day!
I think i'm with Zach there, Exploratory romp just isn't as worthwhile. Using something to expose a card to check for traps is much much more efficient than running the server just to remove three counters. After you remove them what do you do, run the server again to check the card? Better off just looking at it - if it's a trap, you know, it's dead. If it's an agenda, you know to run the server. With the exception of advancing ICE i see this as a useless card.
It is hilarious to hear some of this analysis a year later. "The Professor is never not going to be good". I have to wonder if they oversell cards due to economic self interest; "These cards all suck" isn't much of an incentive to buy the new set.
A year later, I'd say Zach was correct about Exploratory Romp.
I think that a good plus for exploratory romp is that the run can be anywhere and archives is not heavily iced versus shaper. The run can just cost 1 credit.
Tim is Bonkers. I love his commentary, facial expressions, and inclusion in your videos. He's the next Greg Miller.
No offense intended, by the way. I am an economist, so I tend to see economic self interest everywhere.

None taken! And thanks so much for watching and enjoying the videos.
Being an economist, one has to wonder if you lean toward Shaper or Criminal...

It's also on youtube as well. It is great for teaching the basics.

Is there any card that Tim doesn't like? It's either, "It's ridiculous." "It's so good." "Love this card."

Great work again guys - these expansions explorations are fantastic.
Another TC homerun... Great stuff... And good to see more people being interested in what Atman points to...
I was told that "stealth" cards were part of the original CCG so I'm betting we will see more of those in the future.
Those dice are made of metal, and they were a Kickstarter I backed a few months ago.
Thanks man... I've really missed that! :P
Well, I guess we really need Datasuckers then!
Dirty laundry is the best runner card in the set. In criminal it's very often a hedge fund (with desperado) that doesn't cost a click. Which is nuts.
Stimhack on prefessor seems in my opinion like a good option to fuel some good icebreakers as you have a limited economy as I see it.
However, Exploratory Romp only works to remove tokens from a card in the server you ran on, so unless they have something advanced on Archives, running there doesn't help you.
Exploratory Romp is worth it for the flavor text.
While we have you here. Where did you get the nice red dice that you used in the recent regional videos? I'd like to get some like that.
FFG Made a great Intro/ Tutorial on the basics on their page - look up 'FFG Netrunner'; Im sure TC would also do a bangup job making one with some more explanations
Question: Can you look at the unrezzed ice when you play Escher? If so that card is incredible.
Really?! Why the hate?!

I think exploratory romp is intended as a hb trick of light nerf.
So EVERY card is good? Buying it :)
yes it was part of Netrunner but used differently . We lose the real mecanics behind with noisy icebreaker and sleepy ice .
Gosh I'm flattered.
I've missed that only matched strenght could be worked with Atman.

That's probably why you haven't seen it. ;) Both those decks can get away with playing inti and saving 2 influence.
What's the math on Professional Contract. How many times do you have to use it before it pays off?
Great video, thank you guys!
I have one, but good one question. Is it possible to make two fun decks out of this expansion?(two of my friends like to play from time to time but not in turnaments)

Silas E. Quester We'll put it on the list of potential videos!
Sounds good. Thanks!
Is Kate still the best Shaper ID in your opinion?
awesome video! thanks guys
And Atman is just broken...
You don't need Datasuckers or Ice Carvers, you just need Andromeda and boost your 1st turn economy to 12 and just play Atman at St.9 and then break everything and have a nice day!
you then could only break st. 9 ice. it can only break ice with str equal to the amount you paid for it.
He can! Read his ability, first copy of a program is free!
Atman isn't broken. READ THE CARD. It can only break things that MATCH IT'S STRENGTH.
READ THE CARD.
Professor can't splash corroder can he? He only has the one influence.

Way to play Monolith:
Build Rig in your hand > Test Run Monolith > Install Rig for free > Profit

Haha, we assure you that all comments, especially the wrong ones, are straight from the heart :)
Would rather see Professor in a different faction. A lot of times the expensive splash programs you are going after are already Shaper.
Ojalá existiera esto en español
I don't know how they like Professor. It is just... odd
People really need to start reading the cards, not reading what they want the card to be
No you cannot.
He can have one for free
I just think most cards have their place. and I don't like inti ;)
Run advanceable ICE, then watch how much Atman sucks.
