We all agree! Thank you! I make Christmas labels once a year but the software changes and the procedure steps sometimes change. I spent hours getting labels this time. I just didn't seem to follow instructions very well (I'm getting older (83). I finally discovered your tutorial. It's excellent. I did discover that one should not make the Calc column names too long. It can cause issues when you specify the field-names for fields you move to the label file. One of my fields would not merge, apparently because the field name was too large. If a field name overflows a line and/or wraps to the next line, it might not be merged in the actual label template. 5160 labels can be almost to small for some address/name combinations. Adjustments larger than a couple characters can make things even worse. I'll look for some labels that are a bit larger when I run out of the Avery 5160 labels and I'll use shorter fieldnames like yours.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I had been stuggling to make the labels, but with this brilliant step by step guide I found it so easy to follow, even me with limited tech knowledge. Many thanks Melissa
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this Melissa. It was concise, clear to follow, and achieved exactly the result I wanted. Regards from across the pond (UK).
Hi Melissa, I am having an issue. Everything is fine till I get to the part where I click File, Print, & Yes. All I get is a dialog box to print. No option is given to Save to the file. I have Libre 7.6 if that matters. Thanks in advance for your help.
I can’t tell you how glad I am to have found this! After trying many other resources, I was tearing my hair out in despair. Thank you so much for saving the annual Christmas card address printing from going old school this year.
Thank you, straight forward brief and to the point. You seem to have touched on most of the points I was wondering about and had some good points on creating a data base.
Thanks, this was much easier to follow than a couple of other videos I've watched. I did have one odd problem, there was a blank page between every good address label page.
Hi Dana! Thank you! I’m glad it was helpful. There are a couple of things that can cause a blank page. The biggest is the page margins. If it is too close to the footer it will kick a blank page so check that first. Second is a setting in Tools / Options / LibreOffice Writer / Print / Print automatically inserted blank pages. Make sure that is unchecked l. Let me know if these help. I get notified with you comment so we can work through this. Thank you!
Hi Melissa thanks for easy to follow video. Is it possible to move the text down to put it in the centre of the label, it moves across but i can't pull it down of the top this would help when printing it's close to being cut off when i peel the label off. thanks again.
Thanks. I would have never figured this out on my own. But it's not working for me because after I created the database from my Word document of 500 different mailing addresses, and the Table field gives me the option of choosing between 17 tables and when I try to choose my database field, I don't have the option to choose street address, town, state zip. I only get the option to choose from one of the prefilled addresses and only that address is displayed when I go to print.
Hopefully you are still out there Melissa as I can follow along until the merge where I get aa "The data source labels was not found." I have tried registering the base and deleted all previous attempts as not to confuse it. But it still hangs up at this point. Any ideas?
Hello. I apologize for the delay in responding. Usually when this happens the file was saved in a different format or moved. Make sure it is saved as a libreoffice document.
I followed your great step-by-step guide. When I create the New document, the labels are blank. I then followed you guide to "automate" the process. The New document is still blank. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?
Good morning, while i try to connect database by clicking file then database but database has not been displaying however all other icons showed as it was on the said clip. Seeking your consent, please.

Seems this video did well, did you ever try to double down on the topic?
very helpful if you do it all in one shot, however it seems difficult to edit eg if you change the database name do you have to start from scratch?
