Honestly I saw Claymore ages ago... brings joy to my heart everytime I read that name. What a beautiful piece of work. It is a shame we haven't gotten a fully animated series on MAPPA level.

Awakened Teresa is truly a monster on another level - the perfect warrior that the organisation wanted to create through all those experiments on that island, but ironically they thought it was Priscilla and couldn't see the true Teresa they've created.
There's still so many more things to uncover, wish there's continuation so I could see the on-going war in the world outside - the secret in their claymores - those blades that I've never seem to be broken, the 'dragons' which were the source of all yoma and warriors,Teresa's past for how she was that powerful (it seem those with tragic past could make a powerful warrior - biggest example is Priscilla's hatred)...

Unawakened Teresa with 30% release would be terrifying. The only opponent that could stop her was plot.

Years ago I read the entire Manga over the course of a summer. Prior to that I had a collection of Blade of the Immortal and had watched a few anime like Akira, Ninja Scroll, Initial D, and of course DBZ. I'm 37 so I felt like I was a bit out of my age group. Claymore was the first series I shared with any of my jock buddies, and they all got into it.
Cut to us being in our early 30s celebrating a birthday discussing the strongest characters from Claymore.
It's such a well-written series and show and I'm glad to see people are discussing it in 2023 :)

In a lot of ways, I feel the same. Claymore is one of the first anime I watched and the very first manga I read. So it holds a very special place in my heart. I also remember how happy I was when my friend told me he just finished reading it and then we spent next couple of hours discussing about it. Even to this day, Claymore remains one of mine and his favorite manga and anime.
Don't let your age discourage you from watching stuff you love. I believe watching anime is completely fine no matter how old are you. I still really love to talk and watch anime with some of my close friends 😄

It's kind of interesting to imagine what would happen if Priscilla were to live and didn't awaken, she can probably surpass teresa although it's really hard to tell.
*SPOILERS ALERT for those who is yet to finish reading the manga*
I imagine that their fight will be so intense it'll force Teresa to use 80% of her yoki but she'll probably won't be able to win against Priscilla like she used to. But I'd like to imagine that Priscilla will find out the lies of organization just like Miria did, and she probably will, due to her curious nature. And Rimuto better pray when Priscilla find out as she definitely go for him. They can try to send claymores to kill her but we all know that no one will be able to do it. Just like how Miria defeated all those warriors, Priscilla will be able to do that too and she might not even need to use her yoki, just like how Teresa defeated her along with Irene. Idk if Priscilla will kill warriors although she might but I don't think she will, and it's not like she needs to she's unstoppable at that point. Only Teresa can probably stop her, but of course Teresa will not protect the organization from her, no way she will do that after they did her dirty 😊😊. Heck she might even join Priscilla when she finds out the truth as well 😂😂.

I completely agree, that's one of my favorite things about Claymore. Awakened forms are just so weird, unique, terrifying and beautiful, all at the same time 😄

considering how claymore is still being discovered by a lot of people to this day, and the manga that is honestly still selling out so well (i literally just saw one at a bookstore like a month ago) is wild. claymore needs a new adaptation or just continue after the invasion of pieta with the anime, or even a movie would honestly be amazing. been a fan for as long as i remember and till this day i keep re reading the manga and watching the anime to relive it
I completely agree. Hopefully, some studio will decide to fully adapt the manga in the future, Claymore is as you said still quite popular so I\m sure a lot of people would watch it if it's a decent adaptation

Teresa was such a monster I suspect her unawakened form when she was still alive would have placed highly on this list.
Even her base form, when she fights seriously, is probably top 5 material
the final battle at the end of the manga, shows us Teresa against Awakened Destroyer* Priscilla:
Partially Awakened Teresa using the Quick Sword obliterates the most powerful opponent in the Claymore world
*(Awakened Priscilla is shown to dispel out the Destroyer from her, yet she then seems to have the Destroyer's power and abilities, so it's really confusing, meh)
Teresa was alive this entire time, when Teresa got beheaded by Orcish Priscilla, Teresa was in fact still alive, and then kept alive by Clare having Teresa's brain implanted into her (as she was carrying Teresa's head), turning her into the Unique Claymore that she is, that wasn't Clare Awakening into Teresa, but rather Teresa taking over Clare's body, revealing herself, to fix her mistake of not killing Claymore Priscilla so long ago, by killing Awakened Priscilla once and for all. Unfortunately, after killing Awakened Priscilla, Teresa commits suicide, wanting Clare to have her body and mind to herself (well, and Rafaela, laughs, as Clare still also has Rafaela still alive within her, well, at least her mind/conscious anyways, meh), and for Clare to move on too, and thus sadly, we'll never get to see the Twin Goddesses of Love, the ULTIMATE BEING, laughs, sighs, but it was still a good ending by Yagi and its done forever now (even if fans were to try to continue it, they just don't have the skill and quality to do so)
(there's more evidence/proof of Teresa actually still being alive within Clare, until, of course, she then commits her suicide after defeating Awakened Priscilla, but not going to get into all of the cases/scenes/references/etc here)

and then we also got the entire Teresa vs Orcish Priscilla fight too, with base (0-9% YR) Teresa easily matching the 70-80% YR Orcish Priscilla, until she uses her Arm Extension ability to bypass the recoil of the parry, to cut Teresa's forehead (the first and only time Teresa has ever been touched, aside from her hands, and head, "death" scene at the end of this engagement), unfortunately, we don't know if base Teresa could still handle Orcish Priscilla or not, as Teresa decides to get serious, using 10% YR now, and completely dominates Orcish Priscilla, but then when Orcish Priscilla goes 80-90% YR, Teresa at 10% YR power, is seen struggling to parry Orcish Priscilla, but she does still manage to do so, so it's not quite known if she could handle Orcish Priscilla with just 10% YR or if she did need more YR in order to defeat Orcish Priscilla (or Awakened Priscilla), had she not gotten killed, due to fatally-foolishly dropping her YR back down to base level (0-9% YR)

I finished reading the manga long ago it was next to perfect I loved many characters because of their design, backstories, goals, abilities... especially galatea she's so awesome! the ending satisfied me as well, I really miss this masterpiece... the anime was pretty good however there were some episodes mixed canon and filler and others were 100% filler which is frustrating, I hope they're planning to make a remake also I'd love to see a claymore game! I would say fromsoftware is the perfect choice for this project

Debatable, it honestly doesn't really matter that much which one is slightly stronger, they are pretty much on the same level of strength :)
I absolutely LOVE Claymore, was sooo moved by the entire series, never read the manga, but boy oh boy, the anime i thiught was just brilliant! fell head over heals in love with ALL the characters, so amazing!!! GO girls!!!

Dust Eater was probably number 3 in all honesty, Cassandra breaking out of Priscilla's body in her unawakened form after Teresa called her out for a fight is one of the most impressive things done in the entire series.
The creepy guy from the Organization said that the fight between reborn riful and priscilla would decide who is the strongest on the continent (this was before teresa awakened)
And Priscilla had much more trouble fighting reborn riful than she did against destroyer

Besides, priscilla defeated destroyer much easier than reborn riful and destroyer was stated to be more powerful than abyssal ones

I like her that despite her rank she was not arrogant and presumptuous, but very humble and friendly, since she had no problem making friends with low-ranking girls. she was also very shy. She was one of the most humane Claymore in this sense. also aesthetically it was among the most beautiful's girls(even the awakened form was not bad🥰)

I find her awakened form beautiful in an unconventional way. I think it perfectly represents her character and her name. She also has of the coolest nicknames I have ever seen in any media (at least in my opinion). Some people don't like it. But I think it is an awesome nickname 😊

Well, unfortunately the last 3 episodes (not sure if its 2,3,4) of the anime are not cannon. Clare never fought priscilla at north in the manga. It is best for you to continue reading after clare vs rigardo fight. The ending to that fight is a bit different in manga so you could start reading from there 😀

So i should not think of the anime as a perfect copy of the manga..ok ok. Its even better then cus that means i will discover new things and have different outcomes on the manga version. I am now in my late 20s, i always search for this but I don't remember the title.,
I only remember the name - Clare, and when i searching, I always type Claire, that's why I can't find it, it's only now I try to spell Clare, thanks God, and I finally found this one, I like to watch the full video.

Read the manga recently, was so good but felt rushed in certain parts. Maybe author was pressured to complete it but I felt like there was so much he/she could have delved into and made longer.
I also got somewhat of a same feeling. Especially since they mentioned that whole "outside world" yet we never found out anything about it

Last 2 anime episodes are not cannon. Clare never fought Priscilla at north in the manga. I think you should start reading from Priscilla and Rigaldo fight (that's chapter 57 or 8 If I remember correctly)
The fight itself is 90% cannon, but the way fught ended differs a bit in the anime

I love Octavia the best in all awakened being. She resemblance Riful in some way but she does seem less vicious and evil. She and Chronos doesnt seem to be those who go around feast on human innards. I was terribly upset when she got killed (among all the ABs)

She defeated human Hysteria, she couldn't do much once she transformed. Transforming into an awakened being is a major power up. Miria is one of the strongest humans, but she is only human in the end. It took several claymores just to take down Agatha, who is far from the strongest AB
My favorite AB designs are Roxanne and Cassandra :)

You underestimate Cassandra quite a bit. She is stronger than Isley. Alicia has no feats that would put her above Isley, Cassandra, Roxanne and Infected Dauf.
Awakened Clare is much stronger than Irene, Rapaela and Rigardo (whom she killed)
Miria surpassed every non-awakened Claymore by the end of the manga besides Clare. She even defeated Hysteria (former N 1)
I'd say Full Power Awakened Priscilla is on the same level of Awakened Teresa but good top regardless 👍.

Yes, the last 3 episodes (not sure if its 2,3,4 lol) of the anime are not cannon. Clare never fought priscilla at north in the manga. It is best for you to continue reading after clare vs rigardo fight. The ending to that fight is a bit different in manga so you could start reading from there 😀

When Isley invaded the south and fought Luciela, it was a really close fight but he won in the end. However in this list they are far from each other. Though I'd like to believe Isley is as strong to be #6 since he is my favorite character only second to Teresa
Well, their actual fight was never shown to us (only the beginning and Luciela eating Isley's arrows). All we know is that Isley fought Luciela seriously, Luciela was defeated and Isley didn't have any wounds from that battle. And please correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember Isley saying anything about it being a really close battle
Also, Riful has much better feats than Luciela

That's when she saw Priscilla for the first time, and backed off saying "that woman is much stronger than us". Isley invaded other regions because now he had a new and immensely powerful asset.

I'm 99% sure that eventually anime studios will run out of ideas and decide to finish this series. I hope they don't reboot it and totally re-write the story because the comic is epic. Although, they really need to retcon the final two episodes of the anime, that final battle was pretty bad. And it totally didn't happen in the source material.
Ironically, I love the scene when Clare transforms into her half awakened form to fight Priscilla. But yeah, last 2,3 episodes were quite a mess when it comes to story.

Cassandra has better feats, she is much more durable than Isley. I just don't think Isley has enough attack power to defeat her

he's the "most cruel" of the 3 Abyssals (Isley, Riful, and Luciela), because he's a "one man joint military force", he's a "Silver King" that doesn't need anyone else at all, as he can do it all himself:
1. projectile/ranged ("archery/artillery"): bow arm mode, with target seeking arrows, able to blow huge craters in the land, and with his gigantic but extremely fast centaur body, he's not merely an archery unit, but a mounted archery unit
2. melee ("infantry"): shield arm mode, axe arm mode, sword arm mode, and maybe 1-2 more melee arm modes (can't remember if he's got a mace/blunt arm mode, meh)
3. horse-lancer/mounted ("cavalry"): lance arm mode, shield arm mode, gigantic centaur body but still extremely fast too
and also, Isley has the BEST swordsmanship skill of EVERYONE (except for maybe Teresa), while the scene in the anime of his swordsmanship skill in his human form, was laughable, his skill isn't, as in his Awakened form (gigantic centaur body), when he goes into (uses) his sword arm mode, he's near unbeatable and unstoppable (similar to Teresa in terms of her swordsmanship, and especially as seen, with her using the Quick Sword in the final battle, laughs), it's truly terrifying, his swordsmanship skill is second to none, except for maybe Teresa, and also fails to the attrition of the Abyss Feeders (which probably were created to take down Awakened Priscilla herself, wink), the Organization's ultimate mass-producible weapon (also, we never see the Abyss Feeders true full power, as they're restricted: both their power levels and even their mouths are sewn shut, and they're yoki-synchronization controlled too, imagine if they were "let loose or free", just how even more powerful would they become/be, hmm)
(I see the Abyss Feeders as the opposite/inverse of Clare: the Abyss Feeders are 3/4 yoma and 1/4 human, as they were created with Awakened flesh, instead of yoma or Claymore flesh, while Clare is 1/4 yoma and 3/4 human, from using Claymore flesh instead of yoma flesh, and then there's the issue of if the Abyss Feeders can Awaken... into their own Awakened type... hmm)

Infected Dauf's remainings combined with Riful's remainings (after Priscilla killed her) and created Riful like being. Basically, it's a "fusion" of riful and dauf

Miria post timeskip would destroy Rigaldo even in his awakened form. She will kill Agatha on her own.
Miria was closest to being a number 1 after timeskip. What made her lose against the other claymores was not by combat abilities, Raftela’s skills are something you can’t just fight, something she never encountered.
Miria was that strong.
Tho I agree Hysteria is still way stronger. She never released her yoki that could turn her eyes hold. She was way to nerfed in her awakened form. She’s still the fastest, yet she can’t outfly Roxanne’s claw and Cassandraw bite. That was weak, like literally her personality was her downfall.
So happy Alicia and Beth are properly ranked here. Pretty sure even Cassandra will lose to Alicia with her blades that will sloce anything.
Sad that it was Priscilla they had to fight when they only had very short time to be in the story, but Miria and team will die fighting the twins. They were monsters. They didn’t even struggle against Riful and Dauf whom Clare Miria and team had to run away from.

Highest number awakened beings are on a whole another level than unawakened claymores. Awakening is a HUGE power boost.
Miria never defeated a very high number awakened being in a 1 vs 1 (let alone someone who was former number 1,2 ,3). Clare, Miria and others worked together to defeat Agatha. I honestly doubt Miria could defeat her alone. I think Rigardo is still stronger than her, but the battle would be a lot more difficult for him with this Miria
Yeah, Hysteria's biggest problem is she died way too quickly and thus lacks good feats

Priscilla note, even if Clare's Quicksword is comparable in speed and strength, she matched not the original user in terms of overall skill. Puts Irene above Rafaela who was defeated by Clare's Quicksword and all members of the Ghosts. Irene's technique is the fastest in records exceeding even Miria's Phantom.

Irene seems to underestimated her own technique, similar when she underestimated Teresa and was sure they can defeat her with Priscilla's help. I still miss claymore I wish we could have the whole manga animated 😥. Also I think Hysteria should be higher than Roxanne although that's up for a debate. In the rockwell hill she said she was doing fine until teresa manage to hurt badly, taking away her speed advantage. Although Rosemary is strong I don't think she will be able to defeat Hysteria, Hysteria will probably kill all of them if Teresa was not around. Though this is just base on my observation.

anyways it's really just pathetic how she just died so quickly I wish Yagi didn't kill her off so soon, I feel like she should have gotten more chapters to show her full power she's an abyssal one after all. She's too busy trying to catch Miria to even heal herself after she got hit by Roxanne's blade, and she didn't even bother to avoid Cassandra's attack. Anyways she's super fast Miria said she's "virtually invisible" so avoiding Roxanne's blades won't be too hard for her, but yeah I don't know how she can defeat Roxanne. But maybe she can when Roxanne's blades run out, Cassandra said that it takes a while before she can regain her blades. It's still just my speculation, it's still hard to evaluate their strength.

Irene needs to be higher. She's faster than Claire and more accurate than windcutter I bet too. Also she managed to get in some close nicks to a unserious teresa which is

Miria constantly progressed over the course of the manga. And even defeated Hysteria (human form) who is a former number 1 in a 1 vs 1. Solo defeating Hysteria surpasses any of Irene's feats.
Well I mean, that is possible but I ranked half-awakened Clare. Irene doesn't stand a chance against her. HA Claire is similar to Irene in fighting style but better in almost every aspect
@@rokudo302 The thing is she never beat Hysteria on her own, and the only time she TECHNICALLY beat her alone in 1s is when she had to drive herself to a point where she ALMOST AWAKENED just to beat a hysteria who didn't even go 10%...... It was practically on the edge of luck too, just enough to be considered luck. For that reason alone, I believe she would have never advanced to any rank 2 or above spots for the claymore ranking tiers in any generation (excluding fodder ones with unknown 2s)

Kind of weird they only allow their members to use swords when in fact something like a lance and shield or a simple warhammer would have dominated the fight between the claymores and the awakens.
Now that you mention it, it is kind of strange. I don't remember if there is a specific reason for them to only use swords

Roxanne is a bit debatable. Isley has solid defense so I think he can block a good amount of her blades with his arm shield. And he is pretty durable, so it would take a lot of blades to bring him down
It seems to me that Irene should be above Miria, Agatha, Rigardo, Rephaela; She could have been number 1 of her time, but she was unlucky to be in the same era as Teresa.
Awakened Claymores generally need at least 3 and more claymores to be taken down. Agatha was defeated by combined efforts of Claire and others. Rigardo is a former 2 and toyed with them until half awakened Claire. Miria improved a lot over the course of the story, and defeated Hysteria (former number 1) in a 1 vs 1 battle. That feat puts her above Irene in my eyes.
Teresa is a seraphim top Angel no one can beat that with Claire 😎
Just imagine what would happen if Teresa wakes up 70-80 percent

How good is Claymore? I see people comparing it to Berserk
Personally, I think it's great. One of my favorite manga ever. What I admire the most are the designs of the monsters. They are all very unique and interesting.
The plot is not complicated and keeps you interested. Everything gets explained as the story goes on. There are some good twists and characters are decent.
Just so yo know, if you decide to watch the anime first, last couple of episodes (I think last 3 or 4 maybe, not sure) are not canon .

@@rokudo302 Galatea is a tricky one. Clearly before the time-skip she wasn't remotely on par with Rafaela. However, she was almost certainly much, much more powerful than Miria at the time. Being able to hold off an awakened Dauf by herself for an extended time period is a tremendous feat. She would likely have obliterated the male awakened "Mantis being" at the pass. Galatea's strength post-time skip is a real mystery to my mind, so I am unsure how to evaluate her.

Galantieal should be higher than Mirial because she can cause Mirial to miss. Also after 7 years being blind, she is still very vain and refuse to use her yoki. If she uses her yoki and become ugly face, many of the higher ranking claymore actually can't hit her.
If I remember correctly, Galatea's technique doesn't work against fully concentrated attacks. So Miria could use that to her advantage and bypass her technique, especially considering that, by the end of the series, Miria is one of the most battle experienced fighters
@@rokudo302 Yes but that was 7 years also and Miria isnt a awakened. Also the current 10 Raftela with the same ability as Galatea but weaker than her, was able to cause Miria to miss and be defeated.

@@rokudo302 Well, in Clara and Miria time, Galantea is number 3 too and Miria did say, 5 and 6 has a big disparity. I am not sure why Rafaela who is former number 2 is placed number 5 in Clara time while Galantea is placed 3 but maybe that why she can openly stay in the holy city since she can evade the other claymores easily.
@@edmundsim6251 I think there was some reason for Rafaela being number 5. I just can't remember it now. Maybe it had to do something with her being a bit unstable because of her sister. Can't remember really

Helen and Deneve lack feats that would put them above Lars (former 6). Neither of them ever defeated a strong, high number awakened being in a 1 vs 1. Octavia survived for a decent amount of time against Cassandra, and even managed to shortly restrain her. That feat outshines everything Helen, Deneve and Miria ever did
Hysteria's feats are incredibly bad and limit her from being any higher. She never fought another awakened being and was killed almost immediately the moment she got caught between Roxanne and Cassandra (plus only a couple of Roxanne's blades were enough to kill her).
Awakened beings are generally much stronger than Claymores, especially top 5 numbers. Miria never defeated a higher number awakened one on her own. It took the combined effort of Miria, Clare and others to bring down Agatha. I doubt Miria could do it on her own.

Well, they fought decently against him, but that Isley was wounded and was trying to hide from the abyss feeders so he was holding back a lot.
But I guess it is debatable, whether they can or can't defeat Ophelia and Lars :)

Well, Clare is very powerful when compared to rest of the claymores. But in order to unleash your full potential, you need to awaken.
Hypothetically, If Clare ever awakened (I mean the "traditional awakening" like other claymores, not counting her transforming into Teresa at the end) she would probably be at least top 10, probably even top 5 :)
Besides, I personally dislike when main characters get ridiculously overpowered out of nowhere and suddenly become the strongest without a good reason
