Great video, I haven't been foolish enough to see fan4stic. But I've always had a weird nostalgia for the first two fantastic four movies Also I think Green Lantern movie writers took the wrong takeaway from the second one, making Parallax a giant space cloud as well
It baffles me that the Fantastic 4 movies seem to get worse as we go along! Incredibles is the best and Fant4Stic is the worst Marvel’s first family deserves a decent on screen adaptation so I really hope the MCU delivers
You said you couldn't imagine Fant4stic being for anyone, and, well... I come to tell you you're wrong. I can acknowledge the stupid decision in the time skip, and the horrible pacing in the second half of the film overall, but the film has a certain charm to it that the other two don't. The science is fun. In the other movies the science is relegated to Reed boringly expositing everything to everyone else, including his own wife. In this, they all, even Ben, have fun while talking about science and they all understand generally what's happening and what's going on. And despite Ben not really getting it at all, he's still smart. He's a mechanic and he knows how to put shit together. And he also admires Reed's love for what he does and supports him fully. Which brings me to another part of the movie in which I thinknit excels above the others. The relationships feel more real and genuine. Even the awkwardness of Johnny talking to Sue's ex (or just... SUE talking to Vic) or Reed sucking ass at talking to girls. Everyone feels like an actual character rather than just having one or two traits that are constantly thrown at the audience so they have something to latch onto. Granted, while all of this is there, is also hurt by the time skip and last half of the movie. Which brings me to the next thing. This movie had more studio interference than BvS, Suicide Squad, and Zack Snyder's Justice League combined, and it's not only an atrocity that the BluRay contains jack all for special features, but no deleted scenes. There are so many character scenes in the trailers that are nowhere to be found, training missions the characters went on during the year that we never saw, and an entirely different ending planned. Josh Trank has openly spoke out about the mismanagement of the film and his original ideas, and Galactus was going to be the main villain of this movie. And while I think that's a terrible idea for the first film in a series, the treatment he got was atrocious. But despite all the behind the scenes troubles and mismanagement, it's still far and away my favorite Fantastic Four movie. That will undoubtedly change when Marvel Studios releases their movie in 2024, but until then, this is the only Fantastic Four movie I like. I think what it comes down to is a sort of understanding of what the movie was supposed to be and how I imagine it playing it out, and then adding on top of the already great things that are there. I actually feel kinda the same way about the Slender Man movie (though I don't like that, I just feel a little weird about it).
I mean I’m glad you enjoyed it. I personally prefer to judge movies on what they are rather than what they may have been in some alternate timeline where the production wasn’t troubled
@@TSDTalks22 I usually do the same. But I also go in depth into the behind the scenes, watching all the special features documentaries I possibly can, and looking up the the production of movies that don't have them. And on a few occasions, it's clear to me that without the studio interference the movies could have been so much better. With most movies I wish I could have seen the alternate version and I adamantly dislike the theatrical one. I don't like Suicide Squad or Justice League. But with Fant4stic it's a little different. See, with Justice League it's a fairly even and noticeable split between Snyder and Whedon. But it's all jumbled up throughout the movie. With Fant4stic, it's an entirely clear cut case of the director's half and the studio's half. So much so that you can mark the point in the movie where it shifts from one to the other: the time skip. If you cut out everything after the time skip, and you get a really good first third of a great movie. Justice League is a confusing mess where you sometimes don't even appreciate the good stuff in it because it's surrounded by a bunch of shit. But Fant4stic is literally cut in half, and the first half is enjoyable. It's like making two sandwiches, one with fresh ingredients and one with expired and old ingredients, and then cutting them both in half and sewing one half from each sandwich together. Which is an analogy I never thought I'd make.

The Fantastic Four are like the og Marvel superhero teams and it’s sad that in terms of movies, it never seems to really work out.

Fantastic 4? More like, 'mostly sub-par 4'! HA!

@@DarthTingleBinks alright man you do you
Whatever our opinions are on these movies, we can all agree on one thing: The Incredibles is the best Fantastic Four movie
