Why trade with China?
In some of Trumps latest campaign speeches he talked about increasing tariff on "American " companies with factories in Mexico , but those same speeches he has stated that now is not the time to be putting economic sanctions on China , maybe in years to come , but now isnt the right time for it , i would assume his base doesnt want to hear that so he likely means it . The thing to understand is Trump has a functional understanding of modern finance , and if China is willing to export deflation that will be a big help getting inflation under control for him . He will just need to restore fossil fuel production, and the harder job that will be key is deescalating, or ending these wars that are profoundly interfering with international trade . Then interest rates can be dropped, and help push economic growth . He pulls that off and "value compression" will likely create a massive upside for the world, and his legacy .
