Sadly, Laserdisc isn't forever, as many owners have found out. Unlike CDs, DVDs, Blurays, etc. The way Laserdiscs were manufactured has resulted in some rotting of the discs themselves. So there is a deadline to preserve those, and plenty have gone past that point already.

The energy behind "Thats right, BUTTHOLES" is honestly one of the funniest things in that kai episode and I have no idea why.
Especially followed by _"This_ is my resurrection, and you're all about to get F'd!" Kai 3 Frieza is on screen for less than 30 seconds and both of his lines are absolutely peak DBZA.

Well no, the whistling thing is from the movies, which aren't canonical. There's no plot hole, sorry guys.
"You peaked" was just such a perfect joke to me. I certainly have no problem with Gohan having a quiet life that makes him happy, but there was SOOO much buildup throughout the series that he had the most untapped potential and would leave everyone in the dust, it was extraordinarily frustrating
It's oddly realistic though. Like someone who is a really talented painter or pianist but they work for a living and only exercise their talent as a hobby.
But yeah, Toriyama just kind of dropped that idea of having Goku and Vegeta making way for a new generation. He even gave it a bit of an arc, where Goku tries to hand off the hat to Goten and Trunks (even avoiding killing Buu himself, which by his own admission he could have done) before ultimately deciding to do it himself and let his kids live their own lives.
Vegeta even lampshades it in the epilogue about their children being weak.
Even the "buildup" was pretty flimsy, let's be honest here. The writing in Dragon Ball is terrible. DB fans could've written a much better arc by now (which isn't difficult because Toriyama's writing is terrible lol).

@@redshirt49dude, for the love of God I'm so tired of you shits saying this. We get it, things people practice doing is hard for people who haven't put the time in. Whoopty fuckin doo, It doesn't change the fact that we know when shit is good and when it's bad. Us being incapable of doing it better changes absolutely nothing about our opinions validity. And for the fuckin record, people have done it better or at least in a slightly more generic but consistent way. Unlike Toriyama who (R.I.P btw, still love the guy even if he's all over the place) had a lot of bullshit and loose strings and plot holes in his story that only got worse as time went on. People have done great work reimagining it and sometimes improving upon it. I know, Toriyama tried really hard and did really good, but that doesn't mean it's immune to being criticized for its weak points, of which it has many.
"NO YOU'RE ME!" Is a line I actually shouted at my nephew when I gave him a shirt from my college to wear once. Both of us and my sister fell over laughing even though they didn't get the reference. So many quotable lines, but that's my favorite one

I always thought the “I wish my dad was All Might” was a wink wink to the fact that Piccolo’s VA in the Dub also voices All Might.

No idea if Taka sees this, but my last couple of weeks have been super rough, and what he said about it being a comfort show really rings true. I've watched the series through, had episodes on in the background to fall asleep to, just generally been using it as distraction and comfort. You guys are great, the show is great, and thank you for making it.

On a serious note, thank you for this series and of course, DBZA. I cannot overstate the comfort and joy which the original abridged show provided to me as a child. A decade or so later and I find myself met with the same joy and now, nostalgia even, as we’ve been given the privilege to watch it all over again with you guys. The journey has been most insightful into the efforts, hardships, and emotions each of you have put into this project and I’m so very glad you guys came together to make this happen. Cheers TeamFourStar, I wish you all the very best in all your endeavors moving forward.

It comes to an end again
I don't mind Gohan peeking and becoming a side character. I mind Gohan trying to live a normal life and constantly being pulled back in to fight and try to relive the old days. He killed Cell and saved the world, then he got to go to school, get a career, and have a family! He quite literally lived the super hero dream, we should just be happy for him and let him live his life.
I saw an interesting assessment of the Buu saga that essentially posited that the real issue with it, and by proxy how Gohan acted moving forwards, was that it was supposed to return to Dragon Ball's roots as a gag manga, but no one was on board for that, so Toriyama felt forced to go back to action, Gohan's action arc was done, so he had Goku return and essentially used Gohan as a way of flipping everyone who forced him to go back to action the bird.

I remember seeing an analysis of Gohan’s character, and hatred of fighting, basically being because his whole life is basically “settle down, get pulled into conflict, get traumatized, snap, kill the bad guy, repeat” which both some characters and viewers find annoying

I'm guessing you guys won't see this in the tsunami of comments crashing againsts the shores of your attention, but I want to say thank you. Not only for DBZA, which has been a consistent bright spot in my life since a friend in high school dragged me over to watch this "hilarious video" he found while we were supposed to be studying, but for this commentary as well. Being able to go through this show that has meant so much to me over the years as a source of levity and joy when I've desperately needed it with the people who made it has been truly wonderful. Insight into the mind of an artist who has made something that they love and that you love carries a special kind of beauty that I struggle to define. I am honored. I am grateful. Thank you for allowing us to experience your art with you.

You guys have mentioned people thinking Taka voiced 16 and while I can’t speak for everyone, for me it was because he was the only character not voiced by Taka to get a “you will quote everything I say” line (the others being Napa, Guru, and Cell).
And honestly he just sounds like a Taka voice with a filter. You can even hear it in this episode of the commentary when Taka does an impression.

I mey taka once at a con and he was one of if not the nicest dude i have ever met. I told him about how their content helped me through a really rough time in my life and he just brought me up on stage and gave me one of the biggest bear hugs of my life. It is a memory i cherish to this day along side all the wonferfull laughs i got from DBZA and all their other projects through the years. Thank you Teamfourstar for everything you've created and will continue to create. Heres to another 15 years!

DBZA is absolutely my comfort show, especially recently. Whenever I feel like life is putting me through the ringer, I go back to Broly. Or Lord Slug. Or Namekemania.

In terms of finding comfort in this show, it's funny to me because these commentaries were actually a tremendous source of comfort right around the middle of namek saga that I really needed. Knowing that more of these were coming gave me that reason to keep going since I had something to look forward to. Getting to peak behind the curtain was just really fun for me. Thank you for doing the show, these commentaries, and for being seemingly wonderful people
I actually bought a laserdisc player and a bunch of laserdiscs and having seen them up close and personal and understanding how they work 16’s joke is even funnier 😂

What an insane journey these commentaries have been. I didn't find the show until near the end of the gap between episode 60 part 3 and part 4, but getting to follow along with this series made it feel like I was watching along with the rest of the community, learning new things about the show and, honestly, finding it funnier in retrospect now that I know the context. I've been looking forwards to these commentaries every week since they started, and they helped get me through the end of my university degree, my LSAT, and my law school applications. Thanks for making such a fantastic show, and thanks for taking the time to sit down and tell us about it.

As someone who discovered this series when I was in middle school, I'm now a college graduate. This show was formative for basically my entire sense of humor as an adult and I thank all of you for sharing this with the world.

2010, I was 15 years old and on another weekday adventure with my friends, walking down some train tracks in my hometown. My best friend tells me he's seen this parody show of DBZ on UA-cam where Vegeta's scream breaks the timeline. I watched it that night and I've been a fan ever since.
When Lani said "You guys made my adulthood," I felt that. I'm 28 now. I'm with my wife and daughter, spending my first Christmas in our first house. Your videos have been with me through high school, college, relationships, breakups, my first job, my wedding. Every good and bad moment of my life, you guys helped me through it all. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and all of my being, thank you for being you and giving me this gift. Have a wonderful holiday season everyone, and I can't wait to see you in 2024!

I REALLY hope they cover the Buu Bits sometime in the future. Nobody, even they, thought it would happen. And I wonder how many jokes are ones they kept for a long time vs new ones.

Got to the last video, may as well say it at this point, despite the fact that i suck at saying these things.
A year and a half ago i was abandoned by one of my best friends as my other best friend betrayed me, spread deliberate misinformation, turned all my other friends against me and then tried to kill me... I lost EVERYONE important in my life to that "friend's" bullshit. I was at the lowest point of my life, suicidal even. Yet one of the things that got me through those dark days was binging a ton of your content. DBZA, Hellsing abridged, the gaming content, unabridged, all of it.
So thanks guys. Probably wouldn't even be here if your content didn't keep me going long enough to drag me out of that hole.
