Contrary to the public opinion dislike of the sequels, I personally found the sequels to be merely good/acceptable (but could have been great/iconic, had the trilogy's direction been more carefully planned/consistent/united under a single director from the get-go). Thank you for reminding me why I fell in love with the sequels (and the broader Star Wars franchise)!
The sequels have started to grow on me. I'll always have my problems, but I do like TFA and TLJ. I do like individual scenes in TROS, but the plot is what ruins it for me. Not a fan of Palpatine coming back. And I agree, could have been a great trilogy if it was actually planned
@@Xashe_ Thanks for the timely/heartfelt reply. In the meantime, here’s a “fanfic plot bunny” (that I’ve kept on my notes for years) to keep you entertained. Enjoy the incoming huge wall of text! ___________________ Star Wars Fanfic idea derived from UA-cam and Reddit discussions: (in response to “That would give me yet another reason to worship Wat Tambor, I have unironically loved him since I first saw him”) Ikr? Wat Tambor was indeed a remarkable antagonist that audiences can love to hate (despite him being overshadowed by the Sith); it’s such a shame that killing off Tambor in RotS ended any possibilities of involving him in any post-prequel storytelling (unless of course, he made a copy of his own mind to take over the Techno Union in the event of his death). If we were to completely ignore/retcon Anakin’s massacre of the Separatist Council, I would have liked to imagine Tambor making his sequel trilogy return in the form of “Maz Kanata’s elusive hacker” that Finn and Rose were trying to locate on Canto Bight. In this new “what if scenario”… a. We create an unexpected, yet meaningful connection between the prequels and sequels b. DJ’s rant (about arms dealers selling to both sides of a war) suddenly gains more relevancy when Finn and Rose discover that their new Techno Union ally previously tried to profit from both sides of the Clone Wars (under the flimsy pretense of neutrality), thus causing the two Resistance fighters to question Tambor’s trustworthiness (bluntly asking him if he’s up to his old tricks again, aka selling out to the First Order while pretending to be a neutral vendor). c. And then in a stunning reply, Tambor responds with, “the only thing I treasure more than money… is revenge. You’re right that I don’t give a damn about the Resistance winning, but I do give a damn about seeing the remnants of the Empire burn in hell. We’re clearly never going to be friends, but until the First Order is permanently dealt with, you can consider our business interests… aligned.” d. And then he confides in both Finn and Rose how Palpatine/Sidious previously double-crossed him during Revenge of the Sith (using the CIS as a scapegoat/stepping stone for absolute power), thus explaining why Tambor intends to honor his current (although shaky) arrangement with the Resistance- so that he can destroy Sidious’ Empire (and every single one of its offshoots). e. Fast forward to Rise of Skywalker’s Battle of Exogol, where Tambor reveals that he spent every single one of his remaining funds to rebuild the old Separatist navy (adding to Lando’s reinforcements), all for the single purpose of taking down Palpatine and the Final Order. And with regards to possibly epic one-liners, here’s what comes to mind: “The Techno Union… is NO LONGER at your disposal, ‘Lord’ Sidious; you may now consider our contract to be terminated. You should have rewarded me when you had the chance, but now I’ve come back to collect… WITH INTEREST!” (Premonitions33’s reply: “That would be amazing. I never would have imagined Lando somehow being directly connected with Wat Tambor. I wish they would have done that, and to add to that, explain how Incom and Sienar were both owned by the same parent company, so the rant that DJ (or Wat) would go on wouldn't seem like the writers were misinformed/lazy.”)
Perfect 🤝
